What is the worst game you ever bought?
FEAR's engine was built to take advantage of high spec machines, it runs lovely on a 6800+ GPU. But I only ever really played it multiplayer, and it was free so I cannot complain at all...

If you could make any game, what would it be like?
No, I was thinking specifically PC.

NWN2
PoR 2 was better than NWN. Your strange opinions are beginning to amuse me.

Remember PhysX?
Hasn't gone really. PhysX may catch on when more Unreal 3 tech games get released.

There's nothing wrong with 2D and it should remain 2D. This would force the developers to work on a great story and not be fixated by lame 3D graphics. O NOES! We have to make this tree look as realistic as possible. Yes, there is something wrong with 2D. Its not marketable. It would sell just like any other game on the market. While this thread is for any game you would ever want to make, claiming that a publisher would find a 2D game in the modern marketplace marketable is pretty much bordering on instanity. It's not going to happen, I honestly couldn't say I am aware of a 2D game released within the last few years.

What is the worst game you ever bought?
I really don't know if I can answer this question, bugs don't make a game bad for me, I have many complaints about games, but I couldn't really say which has been the worst. Good and bad points exist in all the games I have played... I could point out things I dislike in BG2 and things I like about dungeon lords... Or POR:RoMD both widely considered to be poor games.

NWN2
Just seems like the guy is trolling. It's not even remotely constructive.

Awesome, red looks good on white. Today has just started, lets see how it goes. Like any other day I would presume. And how do you start your days?

If you could make any game, what would it be like?
I'd certainly like to see that implemented, I'd also like to see the movement change from those horrible hex's to a system more like ToEE.

It wouldn't be marketable either. Nonsense. It would sell millions. Right... Are we talking (a)real world or (b)your own internal imaginative world? If (a) if (b)

If you could make any game, what would it be like?
What so basically in the same game engine? Of course. really hoped you wasn't going to say that. It wouldn't be Fallout if it didn't use the classic engine. It wouldn't be marketable either. It certainly wouldn't sell well, coz the kiddies would be all "It's not 3D". 2D gaming is something of the past now... I'll miss it, because I like 2D, but then again 3D can look even better than anything 2D could ever achieve. It's more the genre's I'll miss.

http://creators.xna.com/ A good place to get started. If you're searching for an easier way to get started you could try... http://darkbasic.thegamecreators.com/ or http://www.blitzbasic.com/Products/_index_.php but there is also... http://www.garagegames.com/ Choice is yours. You could also try your hand at making modules for Neverwinter Nights 1 or 2, or The Eldar Scrolls 3 or 4 (Morrowind & Oblivion).

WORST character models ever...
Yes, and polygon limitations for intended systems. X amount of time is dedicated to developing each model, and when you have an asset list like that in an RPG there are more models required than for an FPS, so less time to actually make them, and texture them. There is also the fact that RPG's generally run on lower end systems to FPS's, this means there has to be less polygons dedicated to the result. In the respect of morrowind, this is true. They did a crap job on the models, and the mods released improve the game 10 fold. They did a poor job, and don't really have an excuse so to speak. Sure, but they only needed to develop the template assets for the PC races because it's very much a code driven modification process to the templates that we see in game. So it's a different approach, the artwork is better though. It's always important, but RPG's aren't and have never been graphic driven, it was one of the last genres to go from 2D to 3D. RPG's also tend to have more characters on screen than FPS's, less polygons, less time to perfect. RPG's are not really a genre that push the bounderies of technology, NWN's 2 is an example of a game that's really on the verge of what is capible at acceptable frame rates for an RPG. If I every see a totally lifelike model in a game I'll let you know, I've never seen fingers move in a realistic fashion. Model deveopment is quite a long process... Modeling of the mesh, creation of the texture for the mesh, rigging of character bones and animation. That take alot of time and a fair few people.

In that respect i agree...

WORST character models ever...
It's due to the fact RPG's are so damn asset heavy.
-
WORST character models ever...
Well.. on the other hand, Morrowind has much better gameplay, storyline, and voice acting. It is also a couple of years younger than NWN2 and has much lower PC requirements. That's moot tho' due to the fact the models are still awful, even for the time.

To define cheating is rather simple for me, explotation of bugs or console commands that aid the player and decrease the intended difficulty. It's upto the player HOW they play their game, but god mode is cheating.

What are you playing now?
Hmmm... GTA San Andreas, Quake, NWN's OC. IWD2 with the missus. Dune 2 at work (during dinner like)!
