  1. Yep, that Gauss Rifle is a real nasty killer. Punches holes through armor like it was wet toilet paper. Together with the 'Sniper' perk and enemies will be calling for their mommy. That is if they had any. Energy weapons there's the 'Pulse Rifle'. Scarce but powerful. Also 'Laser Rifle' for the long range. My Favourite weapon though... the Vindicator Mini-Gun. Heavy Metal Style: 'Fast Shot' Perk, Lots of 'Psycho' and 'Buffout' plus Vindicator . Bloody massacre guaranteed. Or your money back.
  2. Excellent... MCA always makes for great interviews.
  3. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas ships for PC and X-box!!! link: http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/050607/75428.html
  4. Yeah, I mean two of the best examples of CRPGs, imho, were both created by BIS. Fallout 2 PlaneScape:Torment Don't forget Arcanum - Of Steamworks and Magic Obscura - created by ex-BIS, aka Troika. ... RIP. BIS were also credited as the producers on the Baldurs'Gate series. I hope Obsidian will create the same kinda magic.

    PC Snobs

awesome On Topic: Hope this topic doesn't end in a flamewar. Heres to hoping. Imo. one of the reasons some PC gamers may have a dislike to consoles. Could it be because the sequels to some previously PC-only titles were released on console. Then ported to PC. Usually resulting in only ending said franchise, as they alienated the original fanbase and failed to win over the console market 'target demographic'. Its no surprise really. What with most never having played the originals. example : Ghost Recon 2 Deus Ex2 : IW Thief3 : DS All much poorer(sp?) shadows of their former inspirations. Discussion: Many developers today primarily focus on consoles, with PC a mere afterthought. This could create a snowball effect - where more and more developers go console preference first. As that is where the money is. Leaving fewer devs primarily focused on PC. There are fundamental differences between PC and console. Design, aesthetics, focus, you could say it was whole different playing field. We have in essence become a 'niche' market. Maybe we always were.
  7. Thats cool. Fallout1&2 are classic. Imho. Not to be missed by fans of good roleplaying. Its been eight years now since Fallout was released. An epoch in regards to gaming technology. Grin and bear the aging engine, its worth it. Some Tips: If you are not so much into violence. Eg: Diplomat/Thief/Whore. Travel the wasteland. You usually encounter raiders ganging up on slavers or caravans. Now, stay in the background and let them blast each other. As the bodycount rises, loot the corpses. If you're good enough finish the remaining scumbags off. Stay out of the line of fire and watch out for stray bullets! Having the 'Awareness' or 'Cautious' Perk helps here. As it modifies starting distance in Random Encounters. Tagging 'Lockpick' and 'Steal' makes criminal life easier. There are literally ****loads of chests/lockers or safes to rob throughout the wastes. Not to mention making people drunk and robbing them blind. Heh. Keep your eyes and ears open, talk to people and read notice boards. There is always somebody who wants someone killed, or robbed. Lotsa jobs pay decent. Eg: I made some money smuggling booze and drugs into certain cities. Eg: Join the Slavers and buy and sell people like cattle. Eg: Go to lawless towns and put down the law. Also if you tag "Gambling" and have high 'Luck' (10) you can make some moolah on the crap tables. Many gamblers and casinos around. Having a set of loaded dice helps. Try not to get caught though. If you pack a punch and can handle a beating. There's also the boxing ring. OR make a name for yourself using martial arts. Question:. Have you played Fallout1 yet?
  8. Most of the games I find interesting come out on PC. Still... If I do get one of these next-gen consoles, I'd get the Xbox360. :Perfect Dark Zero & Ninja Gaiden 2, also "Gears of War" looks amazing. And with Bioware, Obsidian, Epic and Bethesda also developing for Xbox360, I think it has great potential. Lastly I find most JRPGs/games very weird or disturbing and actively avoid that stuff. This means no SONY PS3 for me. my 0.02 cents.
  9. This list includes cetaceans species known to be endangered. These figures are estimates; accurate figures are difficult to obtain. ______________________________________________________________________ *species* / *population* / *status and listings* ______________________________________________________________________ northern right whale: 500-1,000 endangered (ESA, IUCN) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- southern right whale: 3,000 endangered (ESA); vulnerable (IUCN) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- bowhead whale: 8,000 endangered (ESA, IUCN) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- blue whale: 10,000-14,000 endangered (ESA, IUCN) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- fin whale: 120,000-150,000 endangered (ESA); vulnerable (IUCN) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- sei whale: 50,000 endangered (ESA) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- humpback whale: 10,000+ endangered (ESA, IUCN) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- sperm whale: 200,000 endangered (ESA) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IUCN maintains a complete list of all the species it considers critically endangered, endangered or vulnerable: It's called the Red List of Threatened Species and can be found at : http://www.redlist.org.
  10. Agreed. Especially seeing as S.P.E.C.I.A.L was turn-based from design. With Perks, Traits, AC, etc. that modified action points or relied on it.
  11. Morrowind was such a shallow game, no deep dialogue or great characters. No role-playing cause and effect. Just level-grind, loot to become god in Vardenfell. I just can't see Bethesda following up on one of the best RPGs ever, using their previous games as yardstick. Imagine Fallout with wiki-dialogue. FO3 should have been released already... Leonard, Tim, Jason and co. could have done it justice. Alas... it was not meant to be. Still, if Bethesda can prove me wrong and create a great Fallout game. I hope the devs realize what made Fallout so great and build on those strenghts. Quality RPGs: A rare breed these days.
  12. Nice Post there, Wynne. The Thief community is still going strong I see. I had no idea people were still working on a project with the DARK [tm] Engine. Great news! Thanks for sharing. Definitely looking forward to this. To all Taffers involved with this mod. Keep up the good work. Its appreciated.
  13. Hey Eru ... I was waiting to see if someone had replied to your post earlier. Came on just now and decided to add mine. Anyway, some info to share with you. Hopefully you find it useful. The House Of Vertigo The Ultimate Hellblazer Index Depending on your geographic location. This site may be of use. Works for US/CAN residents. http://www.dccomics.com/features/hellblazer/ * click on "FIND COMIC SHOPS" at the top right of the page. There also is a phone # . These guys "Mile High Comics" have a huge selection and and ship all over the place. http://www.milehighcomics.com/ Great for collectors as they have many first editions and back-issues of rare and old comic books. One thing, their prices are usually beat by Amazon. Also their orders may take longer depending on area/location. If there's no local comic retailer/bookshop. Your best bet is Amazon.com. Usually Amazon.co.uk has a better selection available. Another thing is that TPBs prices have risen a bit lately. Especially the more popular titles like "HELLBLAZER" and "PREACHER". That said, prices do vary, and 2nd hand books are usually in pretty good condition. Or if you are just interested in catching the story. Remember that Amazon is mostly just a sales-channel for other stores. Therefore if a title is listed as out-of-print, it can change anytime as other retailers list copies or reprints become available. This has added benefit of sales/specials as retailers compete for price. Sometimes its worth it to check back now and again. Sorry for the long post. Felt that I didn't want to do half-a-job of it. Also excuse any typos. A Bit late ... or early depending on timeframe viewpoint. Finally, If you like "HELLBLAZER", maybe you'll find "PREACHER" interesting. http://ubqtous.com/preacher.cfm

  17. Wow! I did not know of this. I looked at the thread title and thought ... ?? Kind of familiar... Sin City? This is about a movie? And then it clicked... Frank Miller!! Thanks for sharing. It looks very good! Man ... I really hope they pull this of.
  18. Re: Follow the Reaper. That is an excellent album. My favourite of theirs.
  19. I love reading Gene Wolfe. He has a very poetic, twist of the language. You just feel as if you are there, the sounds, the smell, everything. It boggles the mind... sometimes, the way he writes ... How does he do it? Some of his books : Shadow & Claw Sword & Citadel The Island of Doctor Death and Other Stories and Other Stories Storeys from the Old Hotel Other Great Writers: 'Cordwainer Smith The Rediscovery of Man: The Complete Short Science Fiction of Cordwainer Smith. Smith (Paul Linebarger) was one of the early SF writers who influenced a new generation. His stories take place against the backdrop of a long future history, referred to as "The Instrumentality of Mankind". While Wolfe denies having read much if any Cordwainer Smith, I feel those who would appreciate Wolfe would also appreciate Smith. Norstrilia. Smiths only novel, set on the planet Old North Austraila ("norstrillia"). Jack Vance Tales of the Dying Earth (set far in the future, in a world of decadence and magic) was inspiration for Wolfe's New Sun series. Fortunately this series is now back in print in a collection forthcoming in September. Night Lamp. Set on the decadent world of Fader, whose inhabitants only pursue leisure with a genetic slave class to do their labor. The planet's inhabitants are paralyzed by lack of will in the face of many dangers. Vance developed his own alien vocabulary whose meaning words emerges as the story unfolds. Ports of Call Space opera of interstellar exploration. Lord Dunsany The Complete Pegana One of the progenitors of twentieth century fantasy, he influenced H.P. Lovecraft and many others. Pegana was Dunsany's cycle of stories of mysterious other gods who care little for what worship they receive. The language has wonderful legendary quality to it. Neil Gaiman The Sandman. A wonderful comic books series, 75 issues, now collected into editions. The series is about Morpheus, the Lord of Dream, and his siblings, The Endless (all told, Dream, Death, Destiny, Desire, Delerium, and Despair). A modern fantasy rich in legendary allusions and imagery.'

  21. Maybe you would. What exactly? I'd rather see them finish the patch, so people can at least feel there is some support here. Many, many people are bummed about the ****ty ending and bugs. The missing or cut endings are just salt in the wounds for people who paid full price for the game. This fiasco reminds me of Troika. I wonder if maybe Bioware did Kotor 2, maybe the game would have been more complete?
  22. Bruce Dickinson?! OMG!! Is it really you?! You are like my hero man... :: Ya, some posters here are real badass, we better not piss off those 12 yr olds. ::scary mofos:: ::
  23. This is what you call Bad Press :: http://games.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/02/18/192259 and this too.
