  1. I remember when the old BIS forums where I lurked wouldn't load anymore. This was after weeks of reading about dissapointment after dissapointment. PC Project: Van Buren cancelled, Josh Sawyer resigning, FoPoS released and finally Black Isle being closed down right around christmas time. I lurked for awhile over at Missy's. Finally found OE forums and signed up at the end of Feb '04. Decided I would be more active in the forums. Despite lurking for years at BIS boards I had 1 post, and it was in a sad farewell thread to the ex-BIS staff and Black Isle Studios. R.I.P. My first post: It was in reply to a poll about Interplay and their intentions regarding the Fallout license. I was even called a noob by Role-Player, though it was all in fun... I think. Anyhow OE forums are good, my home away from home... where else can you talk/type with such an eclectic bunch.
  2. Driller Killer ... Its an old film but I watched it for the first time yesterday. Its so bad its good. LOL ... Its really very bad and the directors commentary is hilarious. They don't make films like they used to, back in the Seventies. Fulci and Savini and the like. I miss those B-rated, low-budget, poorly acted, politically-incorrect movies ... somehow they were a lot of fun to watch. Todays' stuff is so very boring and pretentious. "What color/shiny CG would you like to watch today?" (Bonus: Love interest included). Where are the Godfather, Scarface or Taxi Driver of our present day?* Don't flame me too badly... I know there are some independant and cool movies that come out every year. Its just most holywood crap that I find depressing and boring. Though the remake of "Dawn of the Dead" was worthy. Sort of. Another funny one was Hellboy, the funniest was probably Micheal Moore's docu-/rant/-mentary. I can't recall its name right now. Though I recall thinking it ironic that the government that he so gleefully painted black, allowed the making and airing of such a piece. Whereas in most other countries such a thing would be unthinkable. I still need to see "Shaun of the dead", I hear its fun. Coming out 2005 is "The Devils Rejects", directed by Rob Zombie ... :heh: I can smell the blood already. Also looking forward to "Constantine" starring Keanu*wooah* Reeves, based on DC Comics' Garth Ennis penned "Hellblazer". *(rhetorical question) "This is the Nostromo, signing off..."
  3. Fallout forever... Maybe you'll think of me when you are all alone Maybe the one who is waiting for you Will prove untrue, then what will you do? Maybe you'll sit and sigh, wishing that I were near Then maybe you'll ask me to come back again And maybe I'll say "Maybe"
  4. Fallout 3 ... I have a time-machine in my backyard. For real? Probably Deus Ex:IW. The original Dues Ex is one of my favorite games ever. I was so psyched up for the sequel, I followed its development until release. Ion Storm could have released a really, really great game, Warren Spector ...what happened?
  5. Came across this and thought it worth sharing. Nival Interactive, a Russian based developer mostly known for "Silent Storm","Blitzkrieg" and games like "Rage of Mages", "Evil Islands" etc. Is busy working on a new game called Nightwatch. Nightwatch is based on material from Russian writer Lukyanenko and will be using the Silent Storm Engine. Situated in the not so distant future. The game will have you battle vampires, werewolves and other creatures throughout various European cities. No release date announced yet. And the best news? ... Its Turnbased! Here are the links and some more info. http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=22317 http://www.nival.com/nightwatch_ru * You begin your adventure as a weak 7th level other, - 7th is the weakest, first the most powerful level. * Classes: -shapeshifter -sorcerer -warrior wizard * Complex magic system. * Detailed NPCs that are exactly like their prototypes from russian writer Lukyanenko's "Watch" books. They have their own agendas, fears, wishes and will interact accordingly in game. * A fascinating plot about the intrigues of the Great Mages. Storyline is revealed through clues ingame. * Fully destructable environment using the upgraded Silent Storm Engine.
  6. Sehr gut. Dankt Morgoth... etwas, zu vorw
  7. I hope they do, the engine is perfect for an RPG, it just needs a good story. Though chances are slim, as I gathered that they (Troika) already have a new engine up and running. If they made as many games as they make engines ... maybe they should license a Bioware Engine sometime -- as these are relatively bug-free. Usually.
  8. I don't care for steam ... But I did not have any problems using steam at all. None. It worked OK for me.
  9. Go here ...
  10. I agree with mkreku here. The Radeon 9600 Mobility is good at DX9 Shaders and an efficient design. Uses less juice etc. Probably play a bit better at newer games than the 5200. Eg. : Kotor will perform better on the 5200, but Half-Life 2, VtM:Bloodlines will perform better on the 9600. ATI drivers today are very stable. Though you can still find a glitch here and there. But nVidia also has a few bugs. IMO you can't really go wrong with either. Very comparable they are. Personally I would go for the ATI Mobility. Just depends if the upgrade cost is worth it for you.
  11. Thanks for the heads up zhuge. and a merry christmas to people at Troika!
  12. Here's an option.
  13. Ahh well, don't worry about it. Its part of being online. Hang around... aka L.u.R.k
  14. WOW! That's a monster. If you do alot of CAD/Design, ~CPU-intensive, number crunching, work station. That machine is spot on. For heavy video-processing go Intel. If its for general gaming/use its a bit overkill. As few games/apps really need or use multi-cpu bandwith. Follow mkreku's advice, except minus one VGA card. ex : AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 2.6 GHz Socket 939, 1 MB cache, BOXED. Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard S939 PCI-E nForce4 SLI, 4xSATA2, Dual-GbLAN ATI RADEON X800 XT PLATINUM AGP8X 256MB DDR3 But Hey... It's your moolah!
  15. Quoted for truth... :D
  16. Congrats! I'll sure pick this up! Though I have to wait a bit, eurogamer.
  17. I second (triple?) that. The X-wing series of books are quite a fun read too. I get the classic Star Wars feel from them. Ala: SW/TESB/RotJ. The 1st and 2nd in the series are a must read. There is also this other book, a collection of stories called : "Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina." It takes the perspective of many different aliens and humans' tales and adventures with the Cantina as a central theme. It takes place at the time of the original Star Wars. Some mentions of a boy and two droids, and some old guy too. I will just say... Its a keeper.
  18. - Another great swedish metal band! There are so many, talented people, making this brand of music I enjoy so much. I am just glad. Where I live (Namibia, Africa)...this music is totally unknown. Most people here listen to local folk music or POP charts from USA/UK, meaning R&B, Rap, etc. Peace... \m/ B) \m/
  19. As far as I know they were pioneers in Melodic Death Metal. Together with In Flames also. Something I always wonder... Why so many great metal bands from Sweden? Specifically Gothenburg. All the greatest Swedish Metal bands are from Gothenburg Interesting...
  20. In the darkest putrid mud grows the whitest brightest lily. btw that website is **** scary, is it for real?
  21. Dark Tranquility are a band from Sweden, and they have been playing for years now. I listen to their music alot , I think its great. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone on this here fora know them, and what you think about them.
