I thought the only thing they could agree on was that killing everyone in the other group was the solution to all their problems. " You didn't read it? "Lee was chosen as a hero that all ethnic groups could relate to in a city that remains bitterly divided after fierce fighting between Croats and Muslims during the country's 1992-95 war." Correction: Since they haven't already wiped out each other, the only thing they actually seem to agree on is not wipe out each other. They just can't relate to anything else in unison.

The only thing they could agree upon was to disagree. That's the only lesson taught here.

KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
Janmanden replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Uh........That's K1 in a nutshell with the exception that you get the Korriban Sith Academy to rule as a haven after you defeat the former masters....which you don't get in K1 because you are just to busy atm. -
I have rarely seen anything but friendly bickering and the few times that some morons have felt a need to flame anyone but themselves there has been swift justice, but then again I've only played Anarchy Online and MUD (text-based MMO) online. Such outbursts never ruined anything except when they were allowed to continue and deteriorate...but it only ruined themselves as they became a laughing stock to everyone else...and they were subsequently noshouted...which is the ruin.

Make sure he learns to play sport as well. That way, he won't grow up to be a feckless, irradiated geek, but a well-rounded renaissance man! I didn't even have a pc until I was 23, before that I was very busy with sports and life, but that didn't stop me from turning into a feckless irradiated geek...it just took a bit longer. As long as that kid keeps playing crappy freeware and non-immersive games he'll be safe...just keep him the hell away from MUD until he comes of age. edit: some quotes got lost

Luxury and rocking are 2nd nature to danes... A lot of the races, skills and spells encountered in D&D and LOTR are easily translated to danish, because they are common to us from Norse mythology (that also lend inspiration to D&D and LOTR) and other things but all the things that are outside of your national 'domain' pose a minor problem. Thanks to the waves of Harry Potter and national Spiritual/Ghost programs the language is still expanding and new contexts are made. Contexts are very important for translating english RPG to your own tongue, whether you make them yourselves or not. But I guess it might be a problem for other cultures that are not so closely bonded with those realms of fantasy.

Sounds familiar, is that the same as Aliens Sex Fiends: I walk the line?

Who had the best backstory
Janmanden replied to Jedi_hunter101's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
^ Uh...this is the spoilers forum. " Kreia, Visas, HK-47, Bao-dur...they are like people that cling to a past and moves on...broken, but still whole somehow... I voted Atton, because his story is rather special...assuming a different identity in an attempt to dodge a past and path that he enjoyed somewhat but in the end he simply couldn't stomach it...he is like the little guy that's caught up in a storm and try to escape it...not unlike the Exile. -
I share my birthday with J(anmanden).R.R. Tolkien, Sergio Leone and Victor Borge and as a tribute to the thread starter Joan Chen as well...among others.

I think I know those friends I see them every night at 18.00 and after 25 minutes they leave again... :D

I am not surprised at all. I don't play consoles at all, but I do have a client for MUD and a 3310... That's why I prefer the Childless version of Fallout... Not totally fair as some kids are actually quite mature, except my niece and cousin and a lot of other kids that aren't really supposed to be that either, but it's just a lot easier to spot those who are not... I play a MUD (Text-based MMO) quite regularly. Mostly adult playes that have been around for years and keep coming back. Small community with 20-40 players always playing around the clock. People from all over the world. There's a help system in place and you are required to read them before you are allowed to continue your progress. 25 levels with different missions ranging from reading thru all aspect of playing, dying, abuse, policy. Sometimes we get a new one... Does it work? Nah, people still ask questions to things they just read...or SHOULD have read, but of course they didn't, they just type the requirement "Now please type HELP POLICY to continue" which takes about a split second to do. Same thing with EULA's and Policies of Conduct. But EULA doesn't change the nature of a man and while it's of course a noble idea etc., it's pretty futile as long as it's not used and checked upon...if you actually had to relate and answer questions it would be different. Most people just click on a button with some funny letters on it and then the adventure begins...I'm not really any different, but I just use my own morals and (un)common sense...

KOTOR 1 and 2 Comparison..which is better?!?!?
Janmanden replied to droidean's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I agree. Apart from the plotholes and all that, there was one thing in particular I really missed: In K1 the Sith Training Facility on Korriban was a really nice tutorial of the Sith and there were several encounters and dialogue where it felt good to be bad. K2 is really lacking in that area and the influence system doesn't really make that any better as just about everybody, including myself, goes complete out-of-character to get all the goodies from every party member...the females in particular. edit: fixed the right context. -
I really prefer the Childless version of Fallout...my sense of humor is not backwards compatible. EULA's and Policies of Conduct are really nice concept, but they don't change people and if people can't read (because they only understand 1337 h4x0r) or are too impatient to start to read and never ACTUALLY agree (just clicking on a button with some funny letters on it) it's quite futile. If you had to answer a few tricky questions before you were allowed inside it would be different. I play some MUD (Text-based MMO's) too and even though 30 levels are mixed with all kind of things you must read before you can move on to the next level, a lot of people still completely fails that and ask questions they just read the answers too...except they didn't (they just type the words "Now type HELP LEVELS"). Look thru my post (just being rhetorical, stop that!) and you'll find a lot of dubious content, but I'm just having a friendly laugh about it and if I really felt that something I'd say might hurt someone I wouldn't do it. Mus fooled me once and I checked on him... Most of the things I post can't really be understood, but it can easily be misunderstood, unless you flex the gray matter and think a bit unconventionally sometimes. Sometimes I try to make an effort to be understood and sometimes even that fails doh...but I'm not a quitter...maybe I got a troll inside, but hey, don't tell anyone.

Main K2 Plot Devices & overall KotOR Universe
Janmanden replied to dufflover's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
You underestimate the power of the Force where past, present and future all connects thru the Force... As long as the story is well connected (thru the Force) anything goes. To me anything that isn't in the game doesn't exist. If I see Darth Vader and Anakin both in the same scene, I'll expect them to dodge the beliefs towards the fans, that they should be the one and the same person - with a manically glee, but until they are rooted in the story their own background story is unknown to me. Of course that's not going to happen, because Lucas would most likely intervene and a million die hard fanatics would go nuts...but it's a kind of fun we've come to expect from games like Fallout...easter eggs. There are a lot of things in Movies or Games that just isn't equally exciting to do. I read the opionions of someone complaining about why the Jedi even had lightsabers, because they are totally not needed with those Force powers they have...except perhaps when they pick locks or need a haircut...not that the latter seemed to work very well. Gray? I like this humanization of the Force users....Kreia, Jolee Bindo, even Bastila and Juhani which are at odds with their emotions and conflicting ideas. It's SO good to see. It adds a lot of thought to the equasion and is a lot more immersive when everything isn't obvious...as in Games that make you think...flexing the GRAY matter In other words LS and DS is the braindead pursuit.. True Sith? Even the Rakata could have been a slave race, they can't really be trusted in a gray world. Remember how they couldn't enter that uh, Tower? They say they've lost their connection to the force or they've become thin-bloods, yeah sure...I'd say that too at the prospects of power when I meet a gullible main character... To me, KOTOR is still exploring the concepts and advancing the world and is thus still grasping for straws - and that's ok, because so am I. Hopefully we'll meet eventually, but until then they should really focus on creating an exiting credible world...and I agree, K2 didn't fare so well in that department...unless they were really trying to kill the entire SW universe to rebuild it from scratch in K3...one Jedi with a bunch of apprentices left to... When I spoke with Atris she agreed to be my trainer, but as we all know that never happens...but I kept asking Handmaiden to take me back, wondering when that was gonna happen...and then Atton is magically able to go back there withuot the docking codes in pursuit of the handmaiden... Hmmmm... Yeah, that's.. just uh, dandy. If it ain't broke fix it until it is... -
There is no emotion, but peach. Hopefully your endeavours will not be fruitless.

I guess it would be kinda nice if the thread header as well as the thread starting post was always visible on the top of any page in the thread. But I guess I should just keep any ideas to myself. I got both already. (DX, SS) I consider them Action RPG hybrids. DX and SS are unfortunately very linear stories...making the RPG rather shallow, but still definitely must plays.

Phonetically, there's hope at least for the intro words, but unless it's love on first sight I guess you'll need some extra words... Ugh, that was so lame.

Is revan stupid or smart for leaving his friends
Janmanden replied to Masta Revan's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Where there's power to be had a sith soon follows and the notion of friends seems kinda alien to me...that such a relationship would work. Bastila is a betrayer and Carth is a man of the republic. -
It reminds me actually a bit about the 3 TNO's you meet in the Fortress of Regrets in Planescape: Torment. Especially the treachery and manipulation of The Neutral character...how he rebuilds and enslaves Dakkon, how he tricks Deionarra...it's the kind of cold-blooded reasoning that is also characteristic of Kreia: There is always a price to maintain the balance.

C++ for complete and utter beginners
Janmanden replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Developers' Corner
I've read the whole thread a couple of times. I've got some experience and ideas as well, but I feel a strange itch, since something isn't quite obvious to me still... Why don't you just talk with the programmers at your work and tell them of your curiosity? Make them tell you what books (programming, methods and terminology) they use. Maybe they would even let you watch them work and give you a few pointers as to how they work. That's what I would do. -
How Do You Imagine The True Sith?

How do you convince carths son to leave the sith
Janmanden replied to Jedi_hunter101's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
You can just add T3-M4 temporarily to your party. Depending on your build of course of that character, it could be really easy to open that door. -
