  1. Now, that's cute: a girl that loves the RE series. I have discussed about this with some friends and they were all rather surprised as most girls freak out when they watch us play these games... I also heard that RE Outbreak sucked. How come you liked it? And where's RE4 on your list? I thought you loved that one... Anyway, to answer the thread's question: yes, Kotor is in my top ten list, just after the IE games (except for PS:T, which I personally hate ) and after NWN.
  2. Needless to say that I added all the relevant info in my Jefferson folder...
  3. *sob* Noooooo.... Why are you dead, Jeffy? *sob* After reading that interview, I want that game even more than before! Damn Atari for not wanting to ressurect the project and damn Interplay for not wanting to sell the project. *jumps out of the window" AHHHHHHH... PS: I live on the ground floor
  4. The thing is that some of the people who criticize videogames have a point. Sure, it is the person who is violent in the first place, and it's not the games that turn fellow and innocent gamers into blood-thirsty monsters. However, VG can prove to be a mean for someone to exteriorize his violence: some people play VG just to have some good time and relax a bit (this helps them control their violent instincts in the real world), while others tend to believe that they, in their real lives, can do exactly the same thing as in their games. Of course, these are extreme cases. I remember a trial in which some 18 year-old guy had killed some people with his car. They found out that he didn't have a driving licence. When he was in front of the judge, he said that he was a pro at Gran Turismo and that he didn't need a licence. That shocked many people. Their are other examples in which small kids try to mimic their favorite characters in Tekken, who kill their friends just for the fun of it (the same way they do in Medal of Honor) or who completely confuse fantasy and reality (see the story in my first post). Those people can indeed be dangerous to the society. Who can you blame? Maybe both people and VG... It is a good thing that some games have an age limit so that you can protect your kids from violence until they are old enough to differenciate virtual world and real world. Concerning my topic, d&d sure is fun, but if you make an excessive "use" of it. I think that it can obsess some people in such a way that they can't live a normal life anymore. Some kids start buying swords and play with them, and then there is an accident... how curious... If you search the web, there are a lot of sites criticizing d&d and saying that it's evil, blablabla... Even though I don't agree with them, d&d can be dangerous in some ways. Some kids literally associate themselves with their characters: that is just sick... Others believe that magic exists... Others kill themselves because their character died... Anyway, that topic makes you think a bit about the nature of some games (which was my intention when I started it). Cheers.
  5. Well, let's say that I just am a perfectionist. I want everything to be well done and this can be noticed in my real life too: I spend quite some time with my homework...
  6. The point is that some people really get obsessed with d&d and that they start confusing reality and fantasy. D&D can literally invade your life if you let it do so: for example, my neighbour and a friend of his are totally obsessed and say stuff like: "hey, look at my fork +5" or "this guy must have 20 STR" (when we watch a movie). This is funny at first but can really become tiresome if d&d is all that you think about during the day...
  7. Actually, I got "inspired" from threads such as this one: http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/ultimatebb.ph...pic/2/1843.html
  8. This is the story of a happy guy named Joe, who is obsessed with d&d. Here is how his day starts: "Hello everyone! My name is Joe and love fantasy settings and d&d most of all! All this stuff is so incredible that it can indeed become a part of your reality! Take me as an example... Yesterday morning, I woke up at 8 am and was satisfied after a good night's rest. Actually, I slept only for 8 hours because my health was full and because that's the only time I needed to memorize my spells. I can say that I slept very well that night: I dreamt that I was raiding a gnoll fortress along my fellow and loyal companion in order to save the kids from some village that were taken hostage by the vile creatures. No need to say that we hack'n'slash through the horde of monsters that awaited us as if it was mere water. It was just a piece of cake since everyone was at level 16. You see... I am a powerful sorcerer and I am pretty good at casting arcane magic! I always had a gift for magic... I probably am the descendant of some kind of dragon and noone in my family knows that. However, the problem is that I am quite weak physically and that I can't wear any armor. That is why I travel with my best friend, Borgan. He is quite short, has a long beard and always has a bad temper. He is funny with his scottish accent, but he has to been taken seriously when he gets angry. Since he is a competent warrior, I count on him to protect me from any hazards and I do the rest in exchange to his services. Everything was going well, but as I was about to be kissed by a gorgeous babe (as a reward for saving her little brother), when I made a successful Listen Skill check without even wanting it. It was my alarm clock... Too bad, I have to go to school again... What a waste of time... I could practice my magical skills and become more powerful... oh well, that's how life is... As I tried to wear my clothes, I made a Disguise skill check (just for the heck of it). And you know what? I rolled a 20! I was sure then that I would have a great day. So I wore my leather armor of shadows +2 and went downstairs to take my breakfast. Everybody else had left the house, so I ate my cake alone by using my +1 fork and +3 knife. Just to talk a bit about my family, I have to precise that everyone is skilled. My sister for example has an affinity with nature: she manipulates animals and burns their fur with "call lightning" spells. As I was going to take the schoolbus, I noticed that it didn't wait for me and moved on its way to school. The only solution to this was to teleport myself directly to this damn place. After casting the spell, I ended up in the girls' toilets. I had a hard time getting out from it without being seen and being treated as a pervert. I don't know any invisibilty spells, you see... Anyway, school is fun actually since I have many opportunities to practice my magic and do whatever I want. For example, in litterature class, I casted a "mass dominate" spell, and spent the whole 2 hours taking a short nap and looking at every girl's underwears. In gym class, I cast a "cat's grace" spell on myself and manage to jump even higher than the Mr Tough Guy of my class. That was great! Every girl was looking at me with awe. When the time to go back home arrived, I left school and decided to go back by foot. That's when a band of well-known bullies crossed my path. They dared to threaten me... Can you imagine that? The nerve! I finally casted a "Bull's strength" spell and kicked their sorry AssEs. I KOed one of them, while the others ran away. Fortunately for me, they dropped many things: I found some gems when I looted the body and I found some gold coins, four baseball bats+3 and a knife+5 on the ground. Yeay! I was so happy because I could sell all that stuff to the nearest retail shop! However, I couldn't carry 2 of the bats since they were too heavy for me (I only have 8 STR) and since I already was encumbered with the scroll case I always carry with me. I also forgot to tell you that I leveled up! What a joy! I am becoming more perfect with each day passing. Later in the evening, I took my bike+10 (it goes really fast) and joined my gf to the nearest wood. Actually she keeps telling me that this is a park, but I can't believe her since we have made so many sidequest at that location. How is it possible to live adventures in a tiny park? Anyway, I have to tell you that she truly is beautiful: she has shiny amber eyes, long white hair, dark skin and pointy ears. Isn't that adorable? I love elves, especially female ones. The only problem is when she rages: noone can resist her when she goes mad. I remember when she had castrated a guy from school one day. That's what he deserved as he insulted her. Noone has the right to insult Aleria. After catching up with her, we completed a mini-quest (we had to retrieve the neighbours' cat) which was worth some XP and some coins. I then had an argument with my gf, and everything went bad for me: she made a critical hit with one of her special attacks and I failed my fortitude saving throw. We broke up after that... At the end of the day, curiously I had many cuts and bruises and many parts of my body were aching even though I had drunk a potion of "Cure Critical Wounds". I was nevertheless satisfied of what I have done that day. I am a great magic-user even tough the spellcasting is something that exhausts me." Guess what happened in reality... Moral of the story: don't play too much d&d
  9. Actually, I solved my problem: I had kept a save file just before the bridge battle and after finishing the fight and having created a bag of holding with the cheats commands, I looted one of the bodies and found the bag of holding I had dropped away. To my satisfaction, I discovered that it shared the same inventory with the one I had created. This means that the "double container bug" only works for the mercenary sack. Anyway, everything goes well since I don't have to restart the game and I now have 2 mercenary's sacks and one bag of holding! :D
  10. Probably... Now, I know that you are the one who caused it... I will sue you!
  11. Since I prefer mangas over animes, I have purchased all NGE comic books released to this date (9 only). Having watched a few episodes from the anime, I believe that the manga is better done, the characters are well worked (they are a lot more complex than in the cartoon) and the intrigue is x100 more interesting. The only problem with this author is that he only gives some clues here and there, and you can't be sure about anything that happens in the story. I have read somewhere that he intends to make a different ending than the one from the anime. I don't know what it will be though since I don't know how ended the cartoon. Anyway, NGE is quite enjoyable even though with its incredibly complex story (japanese love such things, something that I cannot understand).
  12. Where to start? Well, I am in chapter 5 right now, in Kuldahar and there is a nice guy (Conlan I think) who sells some nifty stuff, including a mercenary bag (which acts like a bag of holding). I have to admit here that I am cheating fiend and that in every IE game, I have used the CLUAConsole cheat thing. Don't get me wrong, I usually don't cheat but there are two reasons I am doing this. First of all, I don't have much free time, so in order to finish some day those damned games, I need to make things a bit easier (get free gold, raise my levels a bit, create some items) as I don't want to be carrying useless stuff and start selling it to any shopkeeper, etc. Secondly, I am an magic item collectioner, which means that I want to have in my inventory every single item with magical properties that I come across in the game. I now that sounds crazy as I even keep every ring of protection +1 that I find. Since the IWD games use a random treasure system (and a treasure system based on the difficulty level in IWD2), I use the CLUAConsole cheat to create the items I haven't found. Now, with magical bags, I have enough space to store these items, even though things have been tough for me in both IWD games. Moreover, in IWD1, I could put those items in closets in Kuldahar (as this town was somehow your HQ). In IWD2, since you always have to move from one location to another; item storage becomes a difficult and obsolete thing. In the same game, you will find many storage items like a bag of holding and the mercenary bag. I have used the cheat commands to create those items at the beginning of the game and this has proved to be quite useful. By reaching Chapter 5, I made a stunning discovery. When I bought the mercenary bag that was offered by the shop (I did that just out of curiosity), I noticed that the items stored in my cheat-created mercenary bag couldn't be found in the former. That meant that I could store other items in my newly acquired bag! Now, my problem is that when I came across the bag of holding on the Bridge Battle (in chapter 1), I threw it away thinking that it shared the same inventory as the one I had created with my cheats. Now, I regret doing this and try to find a way to make this OTHER bag appear again. Does anyone have a clue about how I can achieve this? I have tried every cheat command for that specific container but all the other bags shared the same inventory as my first one. Cheers.
  13. Hey guys!!! Shame on you! Don't digress, please! Only Ellester has given a serious answer until now...
  14. Ever since I kicked his sorry AsS, I seriously doubt that he will make another appearance... I don't like phony jeffersons after all...
  15. Many people in these forums have bashed IWD2 and were saying that it was the worst IE game. I had the same impression at first but as I went deeper into the game, I noticed some common points with BG2 (which is my favorite game). The main difference is that IWD2 doesn't have party interaction, but that is forgivable. In addition to that, some people claimed that IWD1 is better. The point of my first post was to show that this wasn't exactly the case and that IWD2 was a strong solid game that didn't get enough advertisment in order to become a successful title. Anyway, I would be glad to discuss with those of you who don't share the same opinion as me. Cheers.
  16. After having completed IWD1 last June and having reached today chapter five in IWD2, I believe I have played enough in order to make a comparison between those games. First of all, I like both of them. IWD was a pure dungeon-crawler, with few side-quest, little interaction with NPCs, very little story but had some positive points like the music, the landscapes, and the story behind each place you visited which gave some charm to those gloomy dungeons. On the other hand, while IWD2 is also a dungeon-crawler, I actually believe it is better than its predecessor. It has great music, some "glorious battles", nice landscapes AND (which is very important in my opinion) has several interesting sidequests, interaction with NPCs (wherever you go, you will meet someone to talk to and receive a quest). Moreover, IWD2 HAS a story: the bad guys appear in front of you early on (even if you knew their identity before that event) and actually HAVE a background story of hartred towards the Ten-Towns. While playing IWD1, I had the impression I was chasing ghosts, instead of discovering a vast plot against the 10 towns. The only problems I can think of with IWD2 are that clearing some areas can sometimes become terribly annoying and boring (like the ice temple) and that some areas don't have a very profound background story (you just get some pieces of info about each place, but you do not discover step by step -through books or testimonies- what happened exactly to that place -like the way you did in IWD1).
  17. Then, I will have to go find him in the Abyss (or wherever else they go after dying), and kick his AsS in order to convince him to let me ressurect him. If you are wondering about what the demons will do to me, hehehe... I have the "protection from evil" spell.
  18. Well, I am tempted to turn undead, but that would turn the jefferson ghost to dust. The only way to deal with this is the: TRUE RESSURECTION spell!
  19. Snow Drop SA Review Do You Like Horny Bunnies 2 SA Review Secret Wive's Club SA Review I really hope you're joking. I recognize several of the others too you sick ****. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Man, it never crossed my mind that such games existed. One must feel really horny to play such games... To answer the thread's question; I have BG1&2, IWD1&2 and PS:T installed on my pc. The only game I have finished so far is BG2, but I am playing again TOB since I liked it a lot. I uninstalled WC3+Exp since I had beaten the game. Now, I wish I had a better pc in order to play NWN+Exp and Kotor. Maybe I will buy a new one in 6 months...
  20. If you read carefully at NMA, Obsidian bought both FO3 and Jefferson assets (since both projects shared the same engine). MMM, I smell something here... Jefferson, where are you?
  21. Where can I find this version of the Bard class? Actually, I like the idea of replacing the Bard's spellcasting ability with a wider range of spellsongs. If I manage to create a Bard that looks like the one in the FF series, I will even be able to include the red mage in my version of the d&d rules.
  22. For quite some time now, I have been trying to create a personalised version of the D&D rules. More specifically, I have been creating new classes, new feats, new spells, etc. But don't get me wrong, I am not entirely changing the rules you can find in any WotC book... What I am trying to do is to create a more interesting system as there are some things in Player's Handbook and in the DM Guide that I don't like. For example, I removing the concept of Prestige classes and am replacing it with the 2E kits (like the ones you can find in BG2) or I am trying to change the stat bonuses from some races (for example, elves get +2 to CHA -as elves are by definition prettier than other races- and -2 to CON, and their favored class is sorcerer from now on). Some of you may not like what I am doing, but I try as much as possible to keep everything balanced. Anyway, I was just comparing the Bard class in both 2E and 3.5E and I noticed a major difference in the bard's spellcasting ability. Indeed, in 2E, the Bard can cast arcane spells up to the 6th spell level in the same way as a wizard (copies spells from scrolls, memorizes them). In 3.5E, the Bard can learn a limited number of spells (whereas in 2E, he could learn as many his INT -or CHA?- score allowed him) but can cast them without having to memorize them (just like a sorcerer does). Moreover, the Bard learns his spells from a very special spell list which is made of both arcane and divine spells. Now, I don't know which version of the Bard class I should keep and that is why I am asking you which one is better. The 2E bard can cast spells like fireball, lightning bolt or ice storm, while the 3.5 Bard cannot cast such spells but has some curative magic. I would appreciate any suggestions. Cheers.
