Here's my party in BG1: me (fighter/mage), imoen (thief/mage), minsc, khalid, jaheira and dynaheir (invoker/cleric). The reason I picked these characters is because I wanted to have some kind of continuity between bg1 and bg2. When you start BG2, it is suggested that you got caught with those guys. Therefore, I assumed that it was normal to play the first game with them in my party. Moreover, I do believe that imoen, minsc and jaheira are MEANT to stay in your party until the end of the saga, as you get to see their faces even in the ending movie. Besides, why would BIO bother making them appear in the sequel? I suppose that they are your loyal friends until the very end... In BG2 SoA, I almost had the same party configuration: I replaced Dynaheir with Aerie and Khalid with Yoshimo (I couldn't stand losing that great guy, so I helped him cheat death for a while; the interesting part was that when I found myself and my party in the nine hells, Yoshimo said something like "I never thought I would go to hell" or something like that). In BG2 ToB, I replaced Yoshimo with Sarevok (whom I dual-classed to a mage at level 17 and he really worked after that with time stop and wail of the banshee). Having first played BG2, I wanted to keep a character similar to Aerie in the first game, and that is why I dual-classed Dynaheir to a cleric).

Initially, she doesn't, but you can raise it to 17 by making her read the Tomes of Understanding. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> exactly...

I like the blonde babe, even though she has a flat chest.

It's not hard to play BG2 with a single character. I created a kensai (lv9) / mage (level 17) and he almost did everything in the game. I remember beating the red dragon just with him. I am gonna tell you another crazy thing I am thinking of doing in BG1: I am gonna dual class Dynaheir at level 6 to a cleric. According to my calculations, she will become a level 6 invoker / level 8 cleric. You see, I don't have many healers in my party (only jaheira so far)...

Grok told me in a pm that Atari refuses to ressurect the Jefferson project as it is because of the high dev costs. That means that they don't plan to use the Mystary engine. However, that doesn't mean that jefferson is completely dead as Obsidian may (if some conditions are met) use its story as an expansion for NWN2 or as a new game using a new engine.

Fortunately, I managed to find the collector's edition (original BG + TotSC) 2 years ago. Actually, that was the only available edition of the game and I am glad I decided to buy it back then. A friend of mine started recently buying all the IE games, but he didn't manage to find BG1 anywhere. Anyway, I do intend to multi-class my character and imoen at level 7, and I decided to make both of them conjurers as divination spells suck (therefore the loss is just minor).

Actually, recycling Jefferson's story, characters, concept art, etc is the only way to save the project. It's a shame to let it die without glory. However, everything depends on whether Feargus likes that idea or not.

I installed BG1 a few days ago on my pentium 3 and I can say that the game is more enjoyable than I thought it would be. Before that, I was playing this game on my father's laptop (a pentium 2) and it looked kinda ugly. Anyway, I considered using BGtutu, but I prefer to keep the original spirit of the game (the way it was designed to be played). Besides, there are some good bugs in it: for example, there is a unique spell that you can't find in BG2 ("wraith form"= immunity to non magical weapons for a certain duration), or when I dual-class my fighter to a mage, I can choose to become a specialized wizard. Now, everyone knows the advantages of being a specialized mage, but a problem occured to me: I don't have the manual with me right now and I can't remember which spells cannot be learned by my character when I pick a specific school of magic. I do remember that an Illusionist cannot learn necromancy spells, but that's all. Can anyone help me with this, please? I checked all of the CDs, but I can't find the manual. I also welcome any suggestions for my characters (as to which school of magic I should pick). I just wanted to let you know that I will dual-class Imoen too, so I have to find 2 different schools of magic for variety. Moreover, I have Dynaheir in my party (I love spellcasters). Cheers.

is the site going slow for anyone else?
ramza replied to NeverwinterKnight's topic in Obsidian General
I have experienced such a thing (once with this site, and many times for other sites). I guess there may some server problems at this time of the year. There are some websites that I can't even have access to anymore because of these problems. PS: I live in France, so I don't know if these problems are occuring at a national, european or international level. -
OMG! I can't believe what I am seeing here: http://www.vancekovacs.com/page2.html Some of the characters are familiar to us (at least to those who visited the old Interplay Boards), but there is a whole bunch of unknown faces (a bard, a thief, etc)... Man, That game sound so promising... I am depressed now... I need to kill someone... Is there any volunteer?

"cry ramza cry" In your dreams, pal! Anyway, did you add the titles yourself, or what? The pic is kinda cool presented like that. However, you forgot the FR logo (if you watch the pic carefully, they just left some room for it, above the BG3 title).

Keep derailing my thread, please... Anyway, can't you see that Jefferson was the only decent d&d CRPG we could get for the centuries to come? I loved the BG and IWD series, but I seriously doubt we will see games of that quality again. I just want to save/ressurect the project that would have given us the same atmosphere as the IE games did.

I am aware that I have become very annoying with this subject. I promise you that, after that, I will never start a new thread on that topic. I understand that the Mystary engine has become outdated and that there is no point into ressurecting the project in the form it was supposed to be released. Consequently, the only way to save it is to combine its story and all of its features (regional reputation, characters, low level campaign at first in order to keep room for expansions, etc) with a new technology. Besides, if Bestheda has indeed bought this engine, then there is no way that Jefferson will get ressurected as it was meant to be. In other words, I wonder if it is possible to recycle the ideas behind the Jefferson project in a new game with a new engine. You can see how this game's story was promising (if you have read Puuk's interview). My suggestion is that Obsidian makes a game with a similar story and characters as an expansion game for NWN2 (after all, NWN1's expansions didn't have any connection with the city of Neverwinter) or as an entirely new game using an new engine made by that developer. I believe that Obsidian is well-suited for completing such as task as many employees there have already worked on that project. However, even though this seems like a great idea, the problem is that Interplay might start making lawsuits against Obsidian and Atari for copying something that he owns. There may be ways to avoid this. Cheers.

You have got a point there. Since the two NWN1 expansions had almost nothing to do with the OC story and took place in different locations, it is quite possible to be able to put the Jefferson story in an expansion. The problem is that Herve might start making lawsuits against Obsidian and Atari for copying something that he owns. Anyway, if you have seen the new fallout 3 pic that is shown at NMA, you can understand that the Mystary engine has become outdated and that there is no point into ressurecting the project. The only way to save it is to combine its story and all of its features (regional reputation, etc) with a new technology. Besides, if Bestheda has indeed bought this engine, then there is no way that Jefferson will get ressurected in the form it was meant to be released. Obsidian is capable of doing such a thing. I will have to ask Feargus. Cheers. PS: As a proof of my good faith (when I apologized), Darque, I accept to go on a date with you next week.

Now why would I do that? I'm actually hurt <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You just said the opposite of what I suggested in my post. I got the impression of being mocked at... Sorry if I hurt your feelings though... (peace? )

Are you mocking me?

Agree. That's a big problem. Those new laws are ridiculous. I've heard that in Greece it is prohibited to play Counter-Strike! WHAT A CRETINISM! It doesn't reduce crime-rate. But it sure does reduce Greece's progaming potential. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't know where you heard or read that. CounterStrike is still on store shelves in Greece and I personally doubt the Greek parliament would ever bother passing a law against violence in videogames. Members of the parliament hardly ever worry about such things...

First of all, the Jefferson plot is set in the Dalelands and not anywhere near the city of Neverwinter. Secondly, changing the story's setting wouldn't be an easy thing to do since some elements of the Dalelands (places, people -the purple knights of Cormyr for example) were crucial to the plot.

Even though this is a Jefferson related thread and should be taken seriously, I can't prevent myself from "ROFL-ing"...

Kotor 1 was a fine game, but I don't know if I will like Kotor 2 as much. I read a recent article at ign.com which was saying that the PC version was VERY buggy (even more than the XBox version). I hope I won't be disappointed...
