Companion Attribute changes in 1.03?
HozzM replied to HozzM's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Two different issues here. I was talking about attributes, Might, CON, etc. I checked Eder, Kana, Hiravias and they had no attribute changes in 1.03. So I assumed that that fix did not go live for some reason or that it required a new game to take effect. In another thread http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/72070-companions-builds-ouch/page-11 someone reported that there were two minor changes made to Pallegina and Hiravias only... -

Combat is just too frustrating
HozzM replied to Heatsink's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Its not more challenging. It just relies more on reflex and micro management, whereas turn based relies more on the understanding of a fixed ruleset. Yes and the increased reflex and micro management makes it more challenging and also more intense. No it just makes it more tedious and frustrating, mostly because of the terrible path finding. -

You can make it effectively turn-based whenever you want. Just turn on the auto-pause option "Party Member Finishes Ability". The game will pause after each time a character takes an action, and you can then issue a new order to that character if you wish. Yes I have that option turned on but the path finding is still a problem, where it would not be a in a turn based system. -

The combat is better than the IE games but it should have been a turn based system. -
I can't speak for all of them but Slicken, Mindblades and Ila are all *definitely* over powered. Slicken can your own guys but its the best level 1 spell hands down. Mindblades is insane for a level 2 spell and just 15 focus. Ila is perhaps the most ridiculous of all. It begs you to have two tanks and 4 guys using bows and guns.

I mentioned this earlier in the thread on post #106. If you get Eder at level 3 he has both Defender and Weapon Focus Ruffian, talents/abilities he does not have if you get him at level 2. I asked if someone could look into this to see what each Companion gets at each level you recruit them to see if this was intentional or a bug/unintentional. Defender is a great talent and mandatory for a Tank Fighter. Weapon Focus Ruffian is essentially the free pick here though, I think.

Obsidian, why isn't there any hotfix yet?
HozzM replied to Jazou's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Lot of nice fixes in there. I really hope this gets out of testing and onto Steam ASAP. /pouring some on the curb for Slicken, Mind Blades and Ila. -

Raedric's Hold game crash
HozzM replied to TheLauron's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
This happened to me on one of my game's. It did not happen to me the first time I went through, in other game. The only major difference (played them both similarly, killing pretty much everything) was that in the second game, that bugged out, I left the area to go back for camping supplies, and came back and that is when the trouble started. My game goes to black with just the cursor if I enter either the Temple level floor or the Keep Hall. I can move around the courtyard and dungeon level only.- 316 replies

Sagani initiated a dialogue with me after a camp/rest in Raedric's Hold, Act I. Pretty generic stuff, she hands me a piece of deer jerky to start things up. She closed the conversation by saying she would help my find Thaos. Except I don't know who that is yet. Google tells me its the final boss but I am no where near knowing that in game plot-wise.

Physical Box Ship Date?
HozzM replied to theADOLESCENT's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
The shipping, and the communication about it, was handled poorly. Leading up to the release, with the poll and subsequent updates the overall impression was that the physical goods minus the game discs shipped before the March 26 release. But they didn't. Some still have not shipped! Everything shipped late and Obsidian/Paradox chose the worst/slowest carrier possible out of the big 3 in the US. My shipping label was printed March 25 but the game did not actually ship until March 30, yesterday. The original email I got from Paradox estimate March 30-31 delivery but it will be April 1 best case. -
Mechanics is the single most important skill, bar none, nothing else is even close. So you really need to put this skill on your PC and choose a background that has +1 Mechanics like Merchant or Laborer or whatever else. Don't think there is one that is +2 Mechanics.

So, I swear I am always having to micro manage my party and their targets, otherwise they just stand around. But it never fails if someone gets charmed, the whole party seems to think they will get a ****ing medal for beating down the charmed dude. I have learned to go out of my way to retarget everyone when someone gets charmed but sometimes they ignore the order and attack/shoot/wand the charmed guy anyway. Please code something where the party will not attack a charmed party member unless explicitly ordered to do so.

You can get the first four companions at level 2, like you said, pretty easily. You can get the last four just as easily, in much the same way, after you have Caed Nua at level 4. Having done this I don't know how content would be lost, skipped temporarily, yes. But the areas you travel through are easily re-visited.
