  1. If it is daylight you can use a hand mirror. Nighttime a torch.
  2. It is a marketing survey: companies pay huge amounts to get a good demographic response (because it translates to an accurate report of the market, which they can predict their profits -- or losses -- from). They start with the basics: where do you, the respondant, fit into the market (age, gender, how much money you spend in the market, etc) so they can correlate the data and build a more accurate picture. Then they ask the actual questions, usually with a positive spin. Finally they try to gauge your mood / predict what you will buy next. "These sort of people want a new RPG," etc. I typed an essay into the "What didn't you like" comment box. Although my exact words may never be seen, someone has to summarise all the comments, so if mine are eloquently explained (for a non-computer literate person who has probably never played a computer game in their life) and reasonable, it will impact on the executive summary. Think sound bites -- I put a few in my comments, so that they can be cherry picked out for the boardroom. If that doesn't work, then the company is deaf to feedback, so I'll have to look elsewhere for my next game, anyway.
  3. I have no problem with this, it is good. The accompanying dialogue and lack of choices therein devalued the whole experience. Also I liked the hidden planet better than M5; there was more to do in different ways (pick sides). PS This is in the General discussion, so you should prevent the general audience from learning stuff they mightn't know yet with the SPOILER tag.
  4. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am humbled. The more I learn the less I know. You are a person of hidden depths, Cloris.
  5. I'm surprised someone hasn't suggested her for Lady Death ...
  6. Just post their address here and we'll firebomb them.
  7. Or: if you play DS you are regaining your most recent connection to the Force, if you play LS you re-connect with the original Revan, before the fall. Revan reverts to form in either case.
  8. To complete the current trend the next trilogy would need to be broadcast when the current audience is in the high-diposable-income demographic (18-35, before annoying commitments like mortgages and children come along) so they have no problem throwing cash at the merchandise. Then they need to make the film aimed at seven year olds, so that Harry Potter looks like Hamlet. Thankfully I will either be dead or senile by then.
  9. Iziz, Hsisis, sounds like Isis to me. Cheops stopped by, he wants his deity back.
  10. Yes, I have to admit I wasn't a bit sad. :D You have to wonder about the etymology of the phrase ...
  11. So the VR helmet is the "wireless controller". Well, looks like they've amped up their previous version a bit: VB Tech specs Weight: 760 g Dimensions: 21.7 x 25.4 x 11cm Powersource: 6 1.5 V batteries Play time (on 6 batteries): 7 hours play CPU: 32bit RISC CPU speed: 20 MHz (18 MIPS) Max Resolution: 384 x 224 RAM: 1 Mbit D-RAM Video RAM: 512 Kbit P-SRAM Cache Memory: 1 Kbit Sound: 16-bit Stereo Controller: 6 buttons and 2 pads Your microwave has more computer power than this. S'funny they didn't mention it in the promo .... "
  12. It is an indefensible postion. First let me say I imagine it is modelled off a monastery or nunnery. Now let me explain why it is untenable. The only excuse is if you are protecting the innocent, who would naturally be targeted by evil forces: they are the Jedi weak spot. (Apparently Hoover used to keep files on people in the US so that he would know how to control anyone he needed to for this very reason.) We will call this the Mary Jane scenario. (No prizes for guessing she's up for the job of human shield in the next film. I would bet she bite the bullet, too, as they have only signed on for the three set deal.) I guess the Council don't want rogue Jedi going "off mission" and starting a vendetta against random bad guys who kidnap or hurt their nearest & dearest. Other than that, it is not only ignorant to assume that Jedi should not love, it is downright retarded, literally. It is retarding their spiritual growth. As has been stated above, the whole point is dealing with that which you cannot control. Love is bigger than the lover: you care for your betrothed: their interests are primary and yours / the order's are secondary. That's a big juggling act, to be sure. A lot of people will drop a ball every now and then. But trying to ignore it and prohibit it altogether is foolish.
  13. No Baley! We are going to post other miscellanea about oblique references to the Star Wars actors and characters in other films and literature. E.g. GL was originally going to give Luke the last name of Starkiller, which I called my K1 character. (I notice someone on these boards knows this because they have taken the name, too.) Anyone else?
  14. Taste buds "live" for about ten days. Once you burn them (as I did tonight on my lasagne) they just get replaced in cycle. Taste buds are just highly concentrated olfactory nerves.
  15. This is one instance where it doesn't matter what you do, who you were before you got there, or what you say to whom and even what you do after. It is a mandatory (poorly scripted) plot point. It has nothing to do with your solution to the trial with Kreia in the Korriban cave, nor your conversation with Atton about the Jedi Council when you leave Peragus II. It is a meaningless cut-scene that magically transports you into the final section of the game. (Don't worry, there is still a fair bit of gaming left.) I hated it.
  16. Go on, give it a go!
  17. How do you know to go to Dantooine? Did you have a conversation with Kreia where she tells you to go (I don't remember the specifics: sometimes the same conversation can have a couple of dead-end dialogue options; she should tell you to go to meet the Jedi chums on Dantooine. If she hasn't told you, go and talk to her until she does.) If Kreia has already told you to go to Dantooine, then I don't know why it hasn't triggered because there is nothing else for the player to do.
  18. This is what is known as a vocal minority. Most people who go to a new SW film (read: the masses who make the blockbuster happen) wouldn't even know what episode number it is, let alone who wrote it. (And the vocal minority would be elbowing everyone out of the way to be first in line. )
  19. Just a note to confirm your suspicions: you can get wireless speakers but they are expensive. The ones you want you can't afford (or you would have them already ). I can't wait for the next generation house, with plenum cabling around every room. (Sure plenum cabling is a pain, but you only need to do it once and then it's done. Then no more pantyline, er wires. )
  20. How do you see Mossman as a blonde? I prefer brunettes, anyway (the eyes are important: windows to the soul: I like pretty light ones). :D Barney is a dude and Father Grigori knows where it's at, and that is rare in this day and age.
  21. The UK patch is larger (c.16MB) than the US patch (c.12MB) (I think there is some of the larger resolution movies, but not sure). Certainly it shouldn't be causing this error. Also you might try moving / renaming the offending file in the KotOR directory and re-applying the patch (use the autopatch first).
  22. ... and badger hunting is not what is sounds like, and roasting is a completely different thing altogether.
