Whats so fun about Hack n Slash?

The thing is: I don't know. It was all done by email and checks. Still, it's not the sponsor who made that site and those claims. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Cashing a cheque is a legal acceptance of a contract. Binding for both parties. Your friend has a case. Take legal advice, quickly.

The UK is surprisingly backward (well, not all that surprising if you live here) in a lot of areas. E.g. after coming from Australia, where almost every house has a pool; every school, gymnasium, college and university have at least one 50 meter pool, I was flabbergastered to find out that England had less than 13 fifty meter pools a few years ago. (I think that has been identified as an issue and is slowly being rectified.) Not to mention the Underground railway system that has had three major investments since the Victorians bequeathed it to London (and in fact the District line still has the same trains I remember from my last visit here in 1977). But I digress ... Converting a cinema to digital is not cheap, especially a big one like the Odeon. Have you priced the equipment?

I love Kim Chee. I used to bug the Korean take-away in North Sydney for so much of it that they had trouble making enough. Traditionally it is matured by fermenting it underground in a bucket ... I've had chilli and feta sandwichs (nice texture). I've had chilli soda (like lemonade with chillis in it), chilli-fermented vodka, tom yum goong that was so hot I made my stomache bleed and generally anything with chillis. At school we used to get that vanilla ice cream, wrapped in squares of paper (making an rectangular prism about an inch high by the size of a piece of bread) which we used to have on toast with honey: tasted just like waffles (well, nearly). I've eated chocloate covered ants, escargo and I am a big oyster fan -- though I don't eat them in the UK because I am not convinced of the water quality here, also the local ones are a bit thin and watery, anyway. (Because oysters filterfeed, they basically act like a sponge for all impurities in the water table that flow past them.) Not like the Pacific Blough oysters, they're so big you need a knife and fork to eat them! I really like (sheep) brains (salted and peeled of the hard membrane), especially on toast. I would consider eating almost anything. I say almost because I used to say anything; however, I don't think I could stomache monkey brains. (The father of a friend of mine was in Asia where he was offered this delicacy, in the tradition setting: i.e. warm, with the still-alive monkey strapped to a contraption with their head held still and their skull opened for the guests to dip their spoons into, a bit like Hannibal in the eponymous movie.)

Smart people don't believe in god...

That's pretty funny. For starters, you are mistaking science and philosophy. Science is not about the search of truth, but about the search of the mechanisms upon which the physical world works. It's not about the "what?" but about the "how?". If you have one object and join another of the same object, you don't have two objects. You have one object and another object. You say you have two because that's how we have established numeric algebra. Ultimately mathematics is just a formal, abstract construct whose relation with the physical world is not self-evident. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep, just to concur, if we used a binary number system, for example, you would represent your two items as 10 items. Seriously, though, said comment was addressing some epistemological arguments for the reliability of sense data (i.e. something akin to Immanuel Kant's Trancendental Idealism versus the Continental Rationalism propounded by Ren -
I don't quite agree. Yes, Revan was left out because he wasn't the protagonist, but the true Sith are not unknown - the Republic has fought the Sith Empire before, although it has been more than a thousand years since then. And saying that Revan just isn't the protagonist doesn't quite explain it. Revan is still out there, but his function in KotOR2 is to serve as a set-up for the coming conflict with the true Sith so that the Exile will follow and join him in that strugge no matter which side of the force either of them ended up on. That was the point of leaving Revan out of the story - to void the consequence of the choice between light or dark side for either character by the time the third game begins, so that the same story will serve either ending. That a manipulation of the story, yes, but it was done very skillfully and it was told well, so I do accept it. It may be forced, but it didn't throw away the credibility of the evolving plot. That's fairly important. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You are thinking like there is some overseer for the both (all) the KotOR games; unfortunately I think that is a very small probability. I agree that the absense of Revan had a minimal impact on KotOR2. I disagree that this was for any other reason that to start KotOR2 with a new first-level character. As to the future, should another game be made, the third developer is free to either repeat the process (and start with another new first level character), or pick up any of the dangling plots, including the "True Sith".

I like the sound of Dwarven stronghold ... good weaponsmiths, those dwarves ... " Good NPC with backstory, not enough dwarves in modules, IMO All good news, like new and different monsters, also like to have multiple ways to solve a problem (ie not just brute force). I hope they all appreciate the trouble I've been to ... Long time playing fun = good. I hope there are some fiendishly clever puzzles ... Always good news, I like special magic. (Nice idea to have custom magic items, e.g. a bastard sword for those with exotic, and a heavy flail for that weapon specialization, a good rod/staff for mages ... etc) Excellent, I like unforeseen ramifications! Consequences are good. Mistakes maketh the man. As long as the plot is served, I don't mind (obviously gratuitous Baley-sating is not a good idea)

There are about two (commercial) digital cimenas in the UK, and one is the Odeon Leicester Square, so that has my vote. Seriously, of all films to see in digital with the THX sound, it's a Skywalker Sound film (GL invented THX). It is truly astonishing that there are so few commercial digital cinemas in the UK, though. PS I bet the tickets were upward of

What are the point of Vibroblades?
metadigital replied to Artem's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Games and films only, please. The original series had the ship computer (voiced by Roddenberry's wife, who also played Nurse Chapel / Dr Chapel in the first film), so I think the general implication was that computers had miniaturized down to be an integral and inescapable part of every day items, so much so that they were assumed and not mentioned. The point about Data (and his twin, Lore) was an homage to Isaac Asimov (another pillar of the Sci-Fi establishment) and his Robot stories (positronic brains and three laws of robotics); also mute testament to the complexity of the human intellect and what we haven't even discovered about it yet. Midway. And a lot of other WWII films (e.g. I think Tora! Tora! Tora! had some, too). Not at all. You are referring to science fantasy. Science Fiction, the best imo, and the realistic stuff, is generally political plots based on slight futuristic environments or askew historical scenarios ... -

Clear lightsaber color crystal!
metadigital replied to Eddo36's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I think the whole point about the Jedi is they are not Ninja; they don't do "stealth". Maybe a Sith Assassin might employ some of the tactics you are so keen on, but Jedi should walk in the front door, and if it's barred, break it down. In broad daylight. Jedi want to advertise their presence, in the same way a police car has bright blue flashing lights on it. Nice try, though. I wouldn't mind differnt colours. -
Did anyone else just get a KOTOR II survey?
metadigital replied to Sir Cedric's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
1. It is 50 questions about KotOR2, so if it is fake, it would have to be someone who knew a lot about KotOR. 2. There is no personal information given in the survey. Not an email address, not country, nothing that can be linked back to the survey taker. If the are Phishing, then they are phishing for something very obscure and not harmful. 3. It is always a good idea to be vigilant, but in this case I believe you are catastophizing. Fill it out in peace. -
So I finally finished Hordes of the Underdark
metadigital replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Computer and Console
If you're working your way down the Hall of Fame (which it seems like) you'll get some good 'uns there. (There are a few buggy ones, unfortunately: I threw "Journey through the Dark" -- or whatever it's called -- out because a lot of the plot triggers didn't work. Oh, and that was after I tried to play with a Dwarven Defender the first time (!), for some reason the drow didn't like that. Then I accidentally flipped the entire goal structure when I played with a high-level monk and sided with the magic user at the beginning and tried to kill everyone else, except the head drow was unkillable at that point of the game ...) -
What are the point of Vibroblades?
metadigital replied to Artem's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It is indeed true. When GL showed an early version of the film to close friends (including Speilberg) he had just the original WWII film spliced into the acting. (HE mentions it on the DVD special edition.) In fact, I've seen the original footage: there's some in "Midway", and other films that I don't remember right now. I would agree with all your post, actually; GL is no scientist (heck he's barely a writer) and SW is a romantic adventure, to be sure. What is annoying to me is the total vapidity of the philosophical underpinnings of the universe (but that is another rant). -
No, power without disipline leads to the Dark Side ...

i have it but have not played it... more of the same i heard. i only bought sou to get the content and allow DL of more modules. i'm working the original pool of radiance now. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I played Pool of Radiance as a P'n'P (and I didn't think much of it), so I wasn't too quick to play it on computer! The first half of SoU is okay, though, it just didn't seem to know how to end. -
The new skins are all white! My new female Alex has a dark face and white chest (because of course all females use all their abilities, including feminie wiles ). ... Playing male now, I see my face has two scars on it. I thought this was silly to begin with (in a society with nano medicine there wouldn't be any reason to have facial scarring), but then I decided that it was probably a deliberate fashion statement, so that's okay then.

Despite your lucifugous protestations, in moderation daylight is good. It is essential for all life on Earth (apart from some plants and crabs in the deep abysses next to underwater volcanoes); gives us people vitamin D, obviates the need for me to wear lots of heavy clothing. Let's us see the mess in the kitchen. Daylight is our friend.

Sure, just airing my opinion, too. I can't remember the specifics now, I just remember thinking that -- using my method of play -- it was going to take me the rest of my life to finish the game. And there are an inordinate amount of Fed-Ex missions. It struck me as a better multi-player environment.

What is interesting is that the romance options are all randomised: sometimes the Sleeping Man's love is your female character, sometimes it's the Knower of Names, etc etc: good for replay value.
