  1. Spot on. Light takes just over eight minutes to reach the Earth from the Sun, and about a second to travel the distance between the moon and the Earth. (The film footage from the Voyager probe took a couple of hours to reach the Earth relay station from the moons of Jupiter.) This is on par with calling a light-year a measure of time (as some early SF tv as done). @Reveiled: this is precisely why mathematics should be mandatory, for longer, at school. Trying to have a conversation about anything (meaningful ) will normally involve maths to a lesser or greater extent at some point; the frightening post script to this posters comments is the underlying innumeracy. Product of modern pedagogical pupil-friendly breast-fed-till-teenage-sharing-the-bed-with-mummy type progressive education that marks the departure from traditional rod-rules-and-rote-learing of the pre-baby-boomer generation. Aside 2: The EHB must be a gag logon, surely? One post and it's to make a self-ridiculing statement? Tip: If not, EHB, create a new account anyway ...
  2. The best comedy always has an element of truth. :D Oh well, I'll know by tomorrow whether I'll be going to see them. All of you might no be interested in seeing them perform again, but since I was born after their last concert, I'm quite happy to go and see them even if it's just so I can gloat to all these young prog rockers that I saw them in concert. :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I stole it off Rory Bremner. :"> :D "
  3. You can fire a FIREBALL, though. (I felt like my magic-user alter ego had Tourette's Syndrome for a long while "Fireball!"; "FIREBALL!"; "FIREBALL!".) :D
  4. Is that when we conduct "Hostile Negotiations"
  5. I knew it would be metaphysically good, but it was damn near useless in a combat-oriented D&D hack&slash dungeon crawl!
  6. I haven't played White Wolf, can you summarise (briefly) the nature and demeanour pros and cons correlated to alignment? (You may begin perusal time now, then after fifteen minutes you may begin the exam. At no time in the first fifteen minutes are you permitted to pick up a pen or writing implement. Begin!)
  7. I was being melodramatic, guys. I was trying to deflate the urinative contest that seems to have developed over the last couple of pages. Anywho, I distinctly remember the AD&D 2 ruleset in the Deities and Demigods (or whatever the title was) some of the divine had negative scores: some of the less "social" denizens of the nine hundred and ninety-nine planes of hell, for example, had a Charisma score of -25. (Can't remember if there were negatives in their abilities -- a CHA of -25 had a similar effect to 25, in that mere mortals were rendered stupified and paralyzed with awe, just the ambient smell was a little worse :/ ) Still, a charisma of zero knocks you out. I guess that makes sense.
  8. IIRC it was renumbered when it was imported from Japan to the occident, if that helps (to FF3? not sure: geek SOS: please confirm FF numbering system )
  9. Almost forgot about that flick :D... but, yes that one too. Heck, just about any sci-fi movie you may find a name you like in it. I find that I feel better about the name if I alter it slightly to suit my taste. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I haven't seen it for about twenty years, and when I went trying to find it by title (which took a while) I read the plot synopsis: looks like a direct copy of the Seven Samurai / Magnificent Seven! (But Nester was cool.)
  10. Pass. But I did play Lego Star Wars, and that's a blast. Not sure what your beef is: two players are boring, but six (or a larger number than three) is better? I thought Wizardry 8 was appalling, and that had two groups facing off against each other -- it just elongated combat to the point where individual battles took half an hour or more -- what's the gain? I don't object to more party members per se, but the more members, the less they individually have to do = less important they are overall = pointless one-quest-problem-specific player abilities (like the Beast Trick in K2) = boring, to me. I'm all for having bigger parties: maybe some local mercenaries join in (red shirts ), and some bonus for each one saved at the end of the section (could be rescued hostages, too, in higher levels). More active members (so not counting hostages) = smaller share of the XP pie, so taking more risks with fewer members is rewarded with a higher passing level ... opens up more possibilities for game play.
  11. And components for spells. Digging up mandrake in the dual eclipse dead of night in the middle of the darkest frest ... genius!
  12. Yes, it's on the new Sega console.
  13. The only reason to have a party of three rather than two is to make the game easier (more available skills and feats -- whether for combat or quest); so a two-member party would be feasible and a good idea, I agree. And the idea of bifurcating the team(s -- I would argue that have two teams, master- and apprentice-led, and have them encounter obstacles that require further division of resources, so we eventually get single PC options).
  14. I guess what seems to be the thread we are all sewing with is some sort of dynamic with two central PCs (Knight and Padawan); these two combine with other NPCs in their seperate excursions. I could even see the sub teams occassionally become individuals (like when only one player -- and not Revan -- could hide and release the others on Saul Karaths ship, after the Ebon Hawk was camptured); this is certainly a good idea -- as long as we get to chose which character (within reason). E.g. think of the Dxun Tomb run, and then the team members are split up by conflict or mutual decision to facilitate the next part of the plan. I would expect the padawan adventures first, to act as a de facto introduction. I don't see the need to have more different party members that do very little interaction; better to have fewer party members and more intra-party reactions. That said, ten members was really the minimum without making it "Half-Life and friend"; so the obvious improvement would be to have more participation from the members. It would be a brave developer/producer that also permitted replays to start with the Knight, rather than the padawan, especially if the padawan had a long and interesting story arc to themselves. (But this is no different to starting Max Payne 2 at any level, for example, or HotU with a new PC without playing through the OC completely.) This would allow for returning players to skip the first introductory levels. Think of designing your own pair of master-padawan / lord-apprentice (genders, races, attributes, skills -- including languages, appearances, etc). Think also of two different plots; LS and DS. Choose at the beginning whether you are the padawan or kngiht or apprentice. Padawan is LS training, apprentice is DS training (both can then follow training or rebel); the skippable levels mean that if you chose Knight (LS) or Sith (DS) you are well on the way to that alignment (but still, can fall or be redeemed); this also gives opportunity for a battle with the partner PC when alignments clash.
  15. Yeah, I'll bet the flying pig has arthritis ...
  16. didn't an actor commit accidental suicide a few years back on a set by pulling out a handgun, holding it to his temple and saying confidently to a colleague "Don't worry, it's loaded with blanks!" ... not realising that even a blank cartidge will send enough projectile material to kill at point blank range juxtaposed to the temple?
  17. I was hoping for a puce or a vermillion ... " (Oh dear I think I should go to bed now. Goodnight.)
  18. I just realised that link did not contain the correct script that I had intended. The linked script had a Mr Luxury Yacht (pronounced 'Throatwobbler Mangrove') debating whether to undergo rhinoplasty. The inteded script was the same aforementioned Mr Luxury Yacht being chastised by the interviewer for having such a silly pronounciation of his already silly name with the terminating phrase "You are a very silly person and I'm not going to interview you!". If I could be bothered, I would track down this alternative version of the said script (one of the albums) and link it. But, obviously, that is more than I am prepared to do at this stage. Good evening.
  19. There's no compulsion to use one. (There are a couple of members who have completed the game with a female Exile in the dancers outfit, or nude, too.) You could be a blaster or a hand-to-hand combat specialist (I'm pretty sure Darth Frog has done this already, if not all of the above).
  20. Is that a Bronze doublebladed lightsabre that Atton is wielding in your sig, LadyCrimson? Or perhaps it is the rarer still Copper crystal? It cannot be the rarest of them all, the titian, can it?
  21. A few thing:... B) The devil emoticon is shorthand for "I am a ****wit". ... <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  22. Remember what Egon said? Crossing the streams is bad.
  23. That response is far too sensible for the original post. You are a very serious person, and I'm not going to interview you.
