The same respect you "showed" to civilans from Middle East, Vietnam, Nikaragwa......... that the western goverments killed......oh yeah I forgot they are "coleteral damage". <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Who the hell are you to cast judgement?
-
I'm sorry, what did the West do in Balkans? Step in and save the Muslims from the Serbian genocide squads? What was the problem there? I see and innocent civilians are acceptable targets for military action, are they? So you are condemning "the West" for attrocities, yet defending terrorists? Are you sick, or just perverted?

Don't panic; tell your wife that the emergency response shut down the mobile phone network, as a matter of procedure (the last few terrorist attacks have used the mobile telephone network to detonate bomb remotely). The networks are back up now, but there is still a large amount of pandemonium.

I guess this is the price West has to pay for decades of colonial domination and present invasion of alien popculture in the muslim countries. Arab people don't have to tolerate american warships in their sphere of influence and since they cannot afford hi-tech military they react with terrorism becouse terrorism is a weapon of poor and opressed who desperately want to stop mighty bullies (like Irish in 19th century). You brought this upon yourselves sweetums. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are you aware there are multiple innocent fatalities? I have been watching blanket tv news and listening to the radio as well; there are still a carriagefull of people (dead or alive) under Kings Cross station. And you are trying to be santimontious? Your insensitivity is appalling. You are not endearing yourself to me. I'd shut up and show some respect for the dead, injured and people close to them.

I was five. My parents bought me an Apple IIe for my birthday because they couldn't afford anything better at the time. I think I managed to get to level twenty or something, then all the bad guys started going at ludicrous speed, and I always got caught. If you go looking for a copy of it Ender, get it on an Apple IIe Emulator. There's an updated 3D version of it by Broderbund (?) floating around that totally sucks a fatty. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ah, thanks for that sweet memory! IIRC they even transferred it, holis bolis, to the arcade; I remember playing a sit-down machine of it (and it wasn't cheap). That and Choplifter! (their exclamation mark, not mine: I thought it was okay, but not worth it's own proprietary punctuation). That's what I had for my first computer, the Apple //e: 6502 8 bit processor goodness. Great machine. I remember the ludicrous copy protection schemes they invented to (attempt to) prevent piracy, which were a dismal failure.

Don't forget it is almost mandatory for women to date younger men, now. (My partner is older than I am, although you would think I were a cradle robber if you saw her ...) I have always been very precocious. I have been thinking about getting a motorbike for several years now, which is pretty apt for me ... -

... scene opens with a singular figure being surrounded by swarms of kobolds from all points of the compass, as far as the line of sight. The Wizard Volo begins the somatic components of the Mass Confusion arcade magic spell; Volo: McDonalds is good for you, because I eat it and I am fit and well. QED, The End. Swarms:  -
I don't believe you. What's the story?

PS They stole the German scientists to make the Atomic Bomb, before the German scientists stolen by the Soviets could.

I don't know what you're upset about, it's my avatar that got hit ... At least WOT posters know the revised meaning of the emoticon. I used it in another forum, and I had to reserve the chuckles for myself, as it seemed to sail over most of the readers' heads ... PS It's not into the mouth (directly), it's onto the face ...

Yeah, my father fought all the Axis troops, and he held the Germans in highest esteem. He thought the Italians were cowards and the Japanese inhuman. Which is funny, because my partner is Italian. " He had no love for the Japanese, espeically because of the forced labour camps in Malaysia and also since one of his school friends, who was the school dux and captain of the football and cricket teams (a real universal man) was captured when the plane he was piloting was shot down. The Japanese gave him their ultimate honour: beheading. He used to be moved whenever he spoke of it, even just before his death, recently. I like the Jacket. You can argue the politics all you want, but the Germans knew how to make a uniform.

I'd like to see you charm some kobolds and xvarts, Volo. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> His magnetic charm, as shown on these very boards, is enough to blind them to all thoughts of combat. " -
Your cynicism is sweet, but a little overdramatic. In the real world, nations are looking for ways to improve their economies and living standards, not plotting to invade each other. Civ3 is not really a world simulator of course, but it can be fun if played as such. Go ahead, try it. :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You remember the First World War, right? Remeber what that was all about? How the German soldiers were fighting, "with God" on their side, for FREEDOM ? Freedom from what, do you think? The English and French Empires, methinks. Kaiser Wilhelm's Germany, and later Hirohito's Japan, were both trying to fast-track their own empires, to catch up with England. (Aside: the bombing of Pearl Harbour was an identical strategem to the one used by the British against the Italian Fleet in the Taranto harbour, in November 1940.) And if you think the US is not engaged in an economic war, then I suggest you visit some of the countries outside the trade protection zones, e.g. in Africa. I don't know if we'll ever stop war; I think Darths Sidious and Vader may have had a point about "bringing order to the galaxy", humans seem to only be able to do it with a central authority, i.e. Pax Romana or Pax Britania. PS The Italians used chemical warfare against the East Africans in the Italo-Abyssinian war, in 1935.

In Civ2 that was just an expansionist philosophy, and a race to Democracy (no corruption and better production). It's more difficult in Civ3.

Probably because its about a specific person. War games tend to be more about the event rather than about specific individuals. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I dunno, if I were German, I'd have had just about enough of Nazi bad guys in films and games by now. In fact, I'd probably be so angry that I'd be willing to shed some blood over it ... O-oh, it's the Fourth Reich!

... but we can't have too much consistency in the EU, otherwise there won't be any work for the army of writers re-writing the revisionist fiction. :D -
He's cheating. Also, they can't really cut each other's arms off, so it's not a real test.

At that age? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> you'd be surprised at the entry ages of boarding school, now. And you could just get a nanny to raise them until then ... they'd turn out fine, just like Prince Charles!
