Rhomal's Commentary - Old school in NWN 2 - Part
... scene opens with a singular figure being surrounded by swarms of kobolds from all points of the compass, as far as the line of sight. The Wizard Volo begins the somatic components of the Mass Confusion arcade magic spell; Volo: McDonalds is good for you, because I eat it and I am fit and well. QED, The End. Swarms:

Resarch...
I don't know what you're upset about, it's my avatar that got hit ... At least WOT posters know the revised meaning of the emoticon. I used it in another forum, and I had to reserve the chuckles for myself, as it seemed to sail over most of the readers' heads ... PS It's not into the mouth (directly), it's onto the face ...

Conspiracies: Are they real?
Yeah, my father fought all the Axis troops, and he held the Germans in highest esteem. He thought the Italians were cowards and the Japanese inhuman. Which is funny, because my partner is Italian. " He had no love for the Japanese, espeically because of the forced labour camps in Malaysia and also since one of his school friends, who was the school dux and captain of the football and cricket teams (a real universal man) was captured when the plane he was piloting was shot down. The Japanese gave him their ultimate honour: beheading. He used to be moved whenever he spoke of it, even just before his death, recently. I like the Jacket. You can argue the politics all you want, but the Germans knew how to make a uniform.

Rhomal's Commentary - Old school in NWN 2 - Part
I'd like to see you charm some kobolds and xvarts, Volo. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> His magnetic charm, as shown on these very boards, is enough to blind them to all thoughts of combat. "

Civ IV
Your cynicism is sweet, but a little overdramatic. In the real world, nations are looking for ways to improve their economies and living standards, not plotting to invade each other. Civ3 is not really a world simulator of course, but it can be fun if played as such. Go ahead, try it. :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You remember the First World War, right? Remeber what that was all about? How the German soldiers were fighting, "with God" on their side, for FREEDOM ? Freedom from what, do you think? The English and French Empires, methinks. Kaiser Wilhelm's Germany, and later Hirohito's Japan, were both trying to fast-track their own empires, to catch up with England. (Aside: the bombing of Pearl Harbour was an identical strategem to the one used by the British against the Italian Fleet in the Taranto harbour, in November 1940.) And if you think the US is not engaged in an economic war, then I suggest you visit some of the countries outside the trade protection zones, e.g. in Africa. I don't know if we'll ever stop war; I think Darths Sidious and Vader may have had a point about "bringing order to the galaxy", humans seem to only be able to do it with a central authority, i.e. Pax Romana or Pax Britania. PS The Italians used chemical warfare against the East Africans in the Italo-Abyssinian war, in 1935.

Civ IV
In Civ2 that was just an expansionist philosophy, and a race to Democracy (no corruption and better production). It's more difficult in Civ3.

Conspiracies: Are they real?
Probably because its about a specific person. War games tend to be more about the event rather than about specific individuals. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I dunno, if I were German, I'd have had just about enough of Nazi bad guys in films and games by now. In fact, I'd probably be so angry that I'd be willing to shed some blood over it ... O-oh, it's the Fourth Reich!

... but we can't have too much consistency in the EU, otherwise there won't be any work for the army of writers re-writing the revisionist fiction. :D

King Kong
That's interesting, and some good points there. I don't agree that an archetype needs to be one-dimenisional to be true, however. Certainly, for more complex characterisations, different aspects of a character can be expressed in different scenarios, with different characters and situations to add contrast to the description. Actually, thinking a little more about it, Gandalf had some depth to his character; he was regarded differently by different groups within the world (even though he was still basically a force for good); he was quite a chaotic character, too: the end justifies the means.

Kotor 3: Ideas and Suggestions
From what I heard, Bastila's character was actually intended to be the daughter of Nomi Sunrider, but that was scrapped. Bastila was actually the original name for Juhani's character. Or at least, that's what I think happened. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep, they swapped the names around (not the characters). I think Yuthura Ban was originally going to be a party member, though; perhaps she was instead of Juhani (I mean the original Bastila)?

Kotor 3: Ideas and Suggestions
Ooo, touchy! I was making a general comment on the state of the continuity of the EU, as it is handled by GL. Every time he makes a new film, he completely ignores any continuity restrictions in order to expediently deliver the new revisionist view of SW that appeals to him at the moment. And the continuity is consistent because ...? Wher are the missing Sunriders? I put it to you that the only reason GL hasn't contradicted the continuity of this period is because he hasn't made any significant contribution to it, yet. What's wrong, "Jediphile" ( ), don't like anyone criticising "The Gospel according to St George"? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not at all, [Metaldigital], I'll criticize Lucas whenever I think he does something wrong. By the time of the movies the Sunriders are 4000 years into the past - why should they have any significance at that time, much less be remembered at all? As I said, we have plenty of ammunition to use against Lucas already, but here is actually an area where there is no inconsistency, so what's the problem? [snip fanboy rant] <{POST_SNAPBACK}> (In case it's not blatantly obvious, I am not interested in one scintilla of the EU.) Ah, okay. I was wondering, and didn't remember if the original idea was for Vima or Nomi herself. We don't know much about Vima's life as a jedi, but Nomi did indeed have the jedi ability for Battle Meditation. So when I heard of the original intent for Bastila, I thought they might have meant her, but be denied the use of her and then decided to push the plot 50 years into the future, so that they wouldn't have to deal with "Tales of the Jedi" characters that they weren't allowed to use anyway. Hmm, there might even be some truth to that assumption, since Vima would have been 50 to 60 years in KotOR1 otherwise... Not much of romance that will sell games there, I think... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's the continuity disagreement I was referring to, "Jedisycophant", the one that LucasArts has created in the KotOR universe.

What are your Ability Scores?
... Maybe my online role isn't to be goofy. Maybe I'm more of the introspective type online. I think each of us carves out a place for himself in every place he considers important. I spend a lot of time here reading and writing about a variety of subjects, so I've already created my online persona. I could change it, I know. I even want to change it sometimes. ...But it has become the most dreadful of things -- comfortable. So, I imagine I'll remain as I am. Nevertheless, I'll participate in the errant "three sheets to the wind" threads I happen to see. ... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You could always create a new avatar, that way you could indulge all those dissonant person
