  2. another Star Trek Diplomacy rulebook (This is an earlier game, which has fewer, but more complex rules (written in English!), and so it might be useful. It seems a lot more balanced, and not a gunboat variant ...) what "Gunboat" means: no press List of all the SF diplomacy variants
  3. You are an inveterate geek.
  4. Subspace. But the game is meant to be played without press (gunboat) and blind.
  5. The new XBox will be very similar to Windoze PCs ... all XBox 360 hardware (controllers, etc) will be compatible with Longhorn (the next version of Win). Of course, there are still differences in development, but they aren't as big as this last generation.
  6. Well, they have to take out all the good stuff that made it a success, then add in all the customised stuff that will annoy people and drive them batty and away ...
  7. I wonder how New Zealand got its name? After all, there wasn't any connection with the Danes ...
  8. They'll never match the ultra-nazi copy-protection of the Apple ][! At one stage there was a talk of placing a phyiscal hole on the (5
  9. We still need at least one player. Once we have seven players for the game, email me with your choices. Borg: 0815, 4711 Cardassia: Cardassia Prime, Cardassia Secondus, Cardassia Tertius Dominion: Omarion, Karemma, Brax Ferengi: Ferengi, Zeta Maxia, Volchok Prime Federation: Earth, Vulcan, Alpha Ceti, Beta-Zed Klingon: Q'onos, Khitomer, Boreth Romulan: Romulus, Remus, Algeron Hmm. I thought the Borg were in the Delta quadrant ... and weren't they coming through the Klingon space?
  10. Exactly. WTF? If you have one more unit than the opposition you win. Period. Three to one? Must be something to do with destroying the opposition and not permitting retreats ... or maybe it means regardless of whether support is cut ..? I mean, it's a pretty ropey description, not least because they've got the ratio backwards the second time they quote it.
  11. Well, they obviously build a sandbox level to show off the game for the preview.
  12. I've been trying to fix it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't matter Jags. What do we think? ... Secret service: a unit can instead of a move discover the orders of great power X after Y the great power gets up to the next move phase all post office of great power X at Y. ... What is the scope of the power? Does it mean that the Secret Service can discover all the orders of a selected power, or just the orders of a particular unit? (Obviously it means that the Romulans can then take advantage of this info and act on it the same turn.) ... Combat capability: means that whenever three units attack the same space they always win, but must with a 3:n - attack with n>=3 one the attack supporting units resolve themselves. ... WTF? Also: This variant should always played Gunboat and blind (i.e. hidden movement) Everyone okay with this? PS we still need at least one more player ...
  13. Click the link, there's plenty to read ..!
  14. No, that is in fact one of the many
  15. I see no problem using this variant, anyway! (All we need to do is agree on the rules that aren't 100% clear, as above, and then I'll adjudicate
  16. Yeah, I'm still trying to understand what the "secret service" power is ... Is that just the orders for a particular unit, or for all the units of that power? And ditto for the Borg and movement; do they get their second movement after seeing everyone elses move, or is it just like double movement (in the delta quadrant)?
  17. Let me have a quick scan of the rules to see if they're written in Klingon or not ... :/ ... (I don't see a problem.)
  18. Jags, fix your links! Here is the (English) summary page of the Star Trek Diplomacy game: linkie. Unfortunately, I can't seem to access the rules or download ... (Maybe it is accessed through the German, or probably a password ...)
  19. I thought you had some mathematical skills, Kaftan. Advice for Variant designers ...
  20. All right! I'd be surprised if there wasn't one already out there ...
  21. My word you are a necromancer of significant determination ..! Not only is this a fantasically old thread, but the link has been pulled by starwars.com ! What's the point? If it was a placeholder, then it's gone now, so it wasn't much of a placeholder ...
  22. If you are going to poke holes in the canon, you may as well drive a 22-wheeler towing a battleship, sideways. Nevertheless, that is the stated lore. The fact that Ajunta got stuck (maybe, as Deraldin suggests, because he was penitent) does not deminish the stated and accepted facts ().
