  1. You're assuming that the US is willing AND able to publish their reasons, goals and requirements into the public domain. Which is kinda na
  2. Wait. You've never had, ever, a PC game freeze, crash to destop or one that allowed you to kill a certain NPC vital to the completion of the main quest? In any PC game ever? You've never played Morrowind? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have played Morrowind ... I just stopped playing pretty early on (about twenty hours in). Just loaded Fallout and working my way through it. As well designed as the combat system is, it just isn't that much fun. I understand the idea of micro-managing every aspect of a game. But it just isn't as much fun as, say, the way the FPS genre do it (twitch gaming). I intend to get Bloodlines, too. But my playrate is at an all-time low, currently. Maybe they will add a Live component later?
  3. You'd better have a power cord for the N-Gage, because a game of Civ will not be a brief experience ... :D The problem is that Java is not an ideal language for gaming. Sheesh, it's only now that multiple threading is even beginning to be pragmatically implemented (multiple-core CPUs), so a programming language that's main claim to fame (apart from its alleged portability) is multiple-threading. I played a bit of Snakebyte on my old Nokia ... the mobile telephone keypad is hardly conducive to game playing, though ...
  4. Makes perfect economic sense to create a jRPG, in fact it would be foolish to make anything else! Why would a jRPG not work on a handheld? As opposed to a PC?

  11. Ah, but you see, therein lies the conundrum. You found that picture....so if you just googled it, it would have told you the answer. Joy! Now lies the next question....is it really that "sad" that I actually didn't know where Botswana was before I asked that question (I googled a map of Africa)? Because quite honestly, I could go through the rest of my life never typing or saying Botswana ever again. Isn't the important thing that, should I ever need to know where Botswana is, I am capable of finding out in a speedy manner? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I knew it was South Central Africa. I didn't know that their native language was Tswana, nor that the capital was Gaborone. And, more and more, the ability to recognise
  12. Every eye will suffer from macro degeneration eventually, if not prevented by another (less common) malady or the death of the person. It is unavoidable. So a new eye is a great idea. A friend of mine (a lifetime smoker) if waiting for them to perfect cybernetic lungs. Also, owing to a skiing accident a decade ago, he is awaiting a bionic hand.
  13. The original, of course.

  15. PC format did a prognosticating preview a few months ago; their assessment was that until the developers start developing games that use the new DirectX10-compatible (i.e. Shader Model 4 and up), which won't happen until Windows Vista is a significant proportion of the OS installed base, then Windows Vista will just be a nice-to-have. In other words, Windows Vista won't be necessary until everyone has it. (Which is sort of a catch-22, except that people will upgrade for other reasons.)
