  1. Thanks for showing those pages. Now I know that it was a good idea to order those two books. Here in Germany it will reach the buyers via Amazon by 26th of March.
  2. Hi everbody out there! As the release of PoE is close at hand I asked myself how many backers are situated in Germany. Germans and of course people from everywhere in the world. Is there anybody from NRW? From Duisburg, Essen, Mülheim, Düsseldorf, Krefeld, Moers, Wesel, Oberhausen, Köln, etc.? Maybe there are enough people who are interested in meeting some backers from PoE somewhere in NRW? Vielleicht besteht ja Interesse an einem PoE-Meeting irgendwo in einer gemütlichen Kneipe? Ich würde mich über Gleichgesinnte freuen. Vorschläge? Grüße aus Duisburg Lightblade
  3. Yes, first of all the most obvious bugs like plot stoppers. German game testers from the major game magazines will have a special look towards bugs in PoE as Obsidian games had a lot of them in the past. This is absolutely necessary to get a very good review / rating. Most important for selling a large number of copies.
  4. It is looking like everything will be shipped pretty close to release day for folks in the U.S.. International deliveries may be a couple of weeks after release, unfortunately. Once we receive confirmation of delivery from Paradox we will let you guys know. This is really disappointing, I thought the reason for sending the game out without the game disk was so that we would get the game pretty much on time, I live in the uk and was expecting all but the game disks to arrive around the 26th. Now its a few weeks after, then the game disks a few weeks later, hasn't someone already stated the all the physical aspects of the rewards are complete, is this not true? I do complete agree to your point! As I am in Germany I also hoped to get the CE gamebox by 26th of March and not a couple of weeks later. Will the physical goods be sent to europe by ship? I payed 20 $ for shipping only, (190 $ in total). For a small and light game box this is a lot of money. So I expected delivery will by via air mail. Backers should be the first to get the physical goods instead of everyone else who has e.g. ordered via Amazon. I am desperately disappointed!
  5. If we would get the new and last beta in the next few hours: Isn't it already to late to report bugs for the goldmaster? Or will those bugs reported from the coming BB "just" affect a day one patch?
  6. I really doubt rolling stats was ever at the table. it just leads to degenerate behavior (Roll, reroll, reroll, reroll... until you arrive to the one that has optimal stats) and it doesn't add anything in the context of a videogame. Sorry, but I doubt you'll ever see this feature again in any RPG, most certainly not in one designed by Josh Sawyer. Yes. This can't be said in better words!
  7. If time is too long until the game is ready (it does not matter if its PoE or a sequel) why not start reading this novel I found today: http://www.amazon.de/Pillars-Eternity-Barrington-J-Bayley/dp/0330308351/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1426064185&sr=8-6&keywords=pillars+of+eternity (just kidding). )
  8. I nearly forgot to say thanks for showing this teaser.
  9. Quite interesting and seems to be a "good work". Its in HD and it looks realy good. I hope I will get my copy of the making of ON A DISC together with the game discs. This makes my collectors edition of PoE much more valuable than any download of the making of or any other kind of "giveaway" like this god**** notepad. )
  10. I would like to start poor as a rat and then get rich as hell. BUT I hope that this gold can be spent for upgrading the stronghold with a lot of usefull things. Or for hiring an army to protect my stronhold while I am abscent.
  11. I think you are right. But I have to say that it will be quite interesting to watch InXile create the console port for Wasteland 2. (I am looking forward for the big patch that creates Wasteland2 into a GOTY edition with Unity 5, better grafix and light and better gameplay.). I am sure that PoE will get the better ratings from game testing magazines throughout the world. And if this should happen and InXile rocks with their console port then I am sure there will be a console port for PoE either. (Even if I dislike this).
  12. Awesone pictures. The dragons look realy epic. But this is nearly to much spoiler for me to see, that I will encounter those dragons / wyrms.
  13. inXile estimates that it takes them over 3 months to port Wasteland 2 to Unity 5 (given that they plan to add features and polish too) gives some indication that 2-4 weeks isn't necessary enough time to port and test PoE to Unity 5. But as can be read those days, InXile will do / port a GOTY edition from Wasteland 2 to consoles. ( I don't know how this will work with a gamepad). The Port will be to Unity 5 and therefore bring enhanced grafics and light and so on. This port should also bring a better gameplay(mechanics). PC users will get this port too. I think this is a great idea. But I hope I will not be "forced" to buy a new "GOTY" edition to play this new experience. This case shows, that this should also be possible for PoE! So what do yout think, Obsidian?
  14. Yes, you are right. But I can tell so far that this article reads like a pre test of the game and is full of praise, very, very positive. The author says something like: If Obsidian does not release a buggy game and if the story and the companions will be cool too - then this can be a real successor to BG2 and will be a hit game.
  15. I do hate those console games! Role playing games (except those from Japan) are not suitable for consoles. For a good cRPG you need at last a keyboard and a mouse. PoE can not be converted properly to a (modern) console with no keyboard and no mouse. Lets see how many copies from PoE will / can be sold in the first 3 month after release. I guess Obsidian will make enough money with this and will not have to do a console port for PoE.
  16. Today I found this article from one of the biggest and most influental game testing magazines in Germany: http://www.pcgames.de/Pillars-of-Eternity-PC-256319/News/Vorschau-Obsidians-Baldurs-Gate-3-im-Geiste-1151075/ This text is a complete hype and the author is realy amazed with the game so far.
  17. Regarding those sreenshots really creates the feeling / look of BG and IE games. Nice work!
  18. I think there will be also a day one patch, so it could be quite productive to release a bb one week or ten days before shipment. Day one patch is most important before game testing magazines will start their game testing on PoE to have as less bugs as possible to get a "best possible rating" for PoE.
  19. Step back, start 'charging' the weapon until light gem goes green, step forth and slash. The weapon range seems to be pretty long, hitting them from 2-3 steps out. That seemed to serve me just fine in UU1. Missile weapons I never got the hang of, and I heard they kind of suck anyway. Hey Tigranes, it seems that I am not the only one who is crazy enough to play this old CRPGs! ) I have a lot of those games in my shelves, UU1 e. g. looks like I bought it just yesterday (regarding the box, the manuals and goodies). Thank you for your guidance to use a melee weapon. I read already in the manual the chapter "combat" but this did not help. (The first giant rat killed me, LOL). Your explanation did help! Thanks a lot.
  20. As the Kickstarter for Ultima Ascendant is still runing for the next 8 days (but doing not so well at the moment) I am playing Ultima Underworld right now. Fighting monsters is not easy, as the game is from 1992 I guess. And graphics are even more ugly than the ones from Doom. Afterwards will be Ultima Underworld II and then I will finish Knights of the Old Republic I. Followed by System Shock II (not sure if part I is still playable today...).
  21. If they do another Kickstarter it surely will be for an PoE Extension. But this will depend on the sold pieces of PoE. Actual Kickstarter for me is Ultima Underworld Ascendant from former Looking Glas Studios which is doing not so well for the last 7 days running and afterwards I am waiting for InXiles new The Bards Tale IV which shall be a sequel to Bards Tale I-III, those games of old. Bards Tale I: Tales of the Unknown was my first CRPG and brought me to the RPG and fantasy genre. A very special game for me, so I hope the Kickstarter for this will be amazing.
  22. @Abel: Very interesting your point of view. I guess it could be very close to the truth... BTW: I think "Kickstarter" normaly means that you only get the first money that is needed to start (kickstart?) a project.
  23. By the way: Any news regarding a new BB? I thought this would be today... but maybe we will get an update by the end of THIS week?
  24. I hope the final release will be as bug free as possible. Gametesters from German Magazines Gamestar and PCGames will not tolerate too much bugs or plotstoppers. And they will not tolerate a bad translation / localization into German. This will result in a low rating. (Just take a look at the Rating of Wasteland 2 -which is quite a good game but had a staggering start in Germany). I guess (I am sure) a rating below 80% will keep off a lot of potential gamers wo liked to play BG and IWD and so on. Germany is maybe the biggest market after US and UK (and all other countries with English as a first language).
  25. Yes, I think you are right - and I hope we will get an answer on this. I do not see why this should be a secret of Obsidian for any reason...
