Ukraine Conflict - continuing
Well, also, today, NATO membership is not all that it is cracked up to be. Personally, I would not place my country's survival entirely within the basket of NATO coming to its rescue. I actually can envision Article 5 being invoked and NATO nevetheless doing nothing/very little to help a member state that's the victim of naked aggression. Ukraine is better off settling for a Germany/Korea-style border separating itself from Russia-occupied Ukraine (and yes, the whole world must continue to see it as occupation and never conceed to Russia any legitimacy for Russia's actions since 2014), and then enter into binding bilateral defence treaties with multiple strong Western allies who keep Ukraine well-supplied with advanced Western weapons and training.

Dragon Age Veilguard: A rook can only move horizontally or vertically
I don't remember exactly, but in DA:I were there not some dialogue choices where one may end up clicking the romance option just because all the other options were rude/stupid/ridiculous? I seem to recall feeling 'forced' to click the romance option because clicking any of the others felt like you were being a jerk.

May also have been a way for the Bioware execs to guarantee this is the end of the road for the franchise. Bioware creative director Epler has repeated in multiple interviews that there will be no DLCs/expansions for DA:V, and that this is because the game is "story-complete." He's even confirmed that the DA:V devs have shifted to the next ME game, and only a small team will be kept to work on a limited number of patches and updates. Me thinks Bioware is done with the DA franchise.

Dragon Age Veilguard: A rook can only move horizontally or vertically
Finally got the chance to watch the Skill Up and Matty videos in full, and also check some other negative reviews, and then very sadly went into my Steam wishlist to remove DA:V from it. 😞 If I ever play the game, and now that has become a big if, it will be years from now, and I don't want it cluttering up my wishlist.

Dragon Age Veilguard: A rook can only move horizontally or vertically
Well, I'll be playing this game despite the romance elements in it and not because of them. I generally don't care for the romance elements in my RPGs, but the romance mechanic in this game looks to be especially atrocious and entirely without attraction to me. Thank you, Obsidian, for not wasting your development resources or my valuable time on a romance mechanic in Avowed.

Dragon Age Veilguard: A rook can only move horizontally or vertically
I suspect this will be my perspective as well. The game is not to my RPG tastes anymore, but because of my love of DA:O and of the franchise overall (which is to say, the setting and its lore), I will view Veilguard as my fond (but also sad) farewell to the franchise.

Same with me.

I had not heard this. Interesting. Yes, but in that interview we're told Owlcat would prefer Pf 2e if they ever return to making Pathfinder games. No, these are games they're making themselves. They even talk about how they're using (continuing to use) Unity for one game, but have switched to Unreal for the other games. There is one historical RPG that has already been revealed for which they're the publisher. But these games they're talking about here are all games that have yet to be revealed (though I suspect that the Unity game is the one the furthest along, and likely a sequel to Rogue Trader). Also interesting was that they seem to confirm that none of these games are their own IP (even though they say they'd like to create their own IP). So these are all cRPGs using existing IPs. Maybe one of them is a D&D game?

I would definitely agree with this, and I don't pay any attention at all to so-called pro reviewers or streamers. However, unfortunately, I now feel that in today's society most ordinary people reviewers (in all media, so also TV shows, movies, restaurants, etc.) engage in unfair reviewing, icluding review bombing, as a way of making themselves feel important and relevant.

What are you Playing Now? - Right Now at the moment edition
Thanks for this. I have that mod downloaded but have never played it, for exactly the reason you mention, that melee combat seems to be very problematic in the game. And for me, I almost exclusively prefer to play melee.

Ukraine Conflict - continuing
Hey, I myself am quite okay with Putin starting a war with us or NATO, as I've said previously. Not because I want a war by any stretch, but because I am someone who believes that sometimes war is sadly necessary to stand/push back against a greater evil. I was merely surprised this story had not come up for discussion here. But I've enjoyed reading through all of your responses so far.
