Which planet Next???
Lifthransir Bane replied to rastaturtle's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Also, if you're darkside, and you get visas right after you get to dantooine, make sure you give change the will and give it to the guard captain--NOT the woman in the salvager camp. You'll get your last piece there. If you go to Nar Shaddah and get visas immediately, the quickest way is to sneak into voggo's secret storeroom. -
Who killed the bith scientist on Nar Shaddaa?
Lifthransir Bane replied to Exar_Kun's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
You can find the answer out if you gain enough influence with a certain companion you get on Nar shaddah, but if you really want to know... -
Lucas Arts didn't 'lay off the staff for kotor 3,' as you put it. Some Analyst said to GL: the profit margins for lucasfilm ltd. for games from lucas arts is 8% lower than the return to lucasfilm on lucasfilm's intellectual property when contracted with an outside party. It would be advantageous if we were to concurrently cease the creation of inhouse computer entertainment and close lucasarts itself so that we could have a revenue increase of 13% when considering that not only are we blahblahblah less in taxes, but simultaneously saving blahblahblah on payroll. Guarantee that's what happened. Kotor3 is collateral damage.

didn't feel like reading all the posts so I'm responding to the first one First off, John Williams is a seventy year old man with a dozen or so oscars, so he probably doesn't own a computer and wouldn't be willing to write music for one. That having been said, I agree that the music in this game is below that of the first, though Obsidian is hardly responsible for that. The problem stems not from its atmospheric nature, but rather from its lack of melody and its lack of thematic continuity. In the first, you knew that you were talking to bastila by the cellos playing. Malak's final battle is more climactic due to Soule's worthy imperial march-like Malak theme. If you listen to the music in the playback menu of this game, the only theme that really stands out is Dark Kreia and it seems to be unfinished-it just cuts out without an ending or real place to loop. The only three I would consider average are nihilis theme, telos battle and iziz cantina, but the latter two are total rip-offs of williams work. So that leaves us with two adequate or better songs. It's not the atmosphere that is the problem, it's the lack of standout themes. For examples of how horror-type music can be thematic see Candyman, Halloween and jaws.

[pWIKI] Influence Guide
Lifthransir Bane replied to Boiler98's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
hey boiler, this topic seems to have become loaded with junk and repeated influence events. It might be a good idea to combine all the various relevant posts into one and start over there. I'd do it myself, but I don't want to get into some type of competition over an idea that is not my own. -
The HK-50 has it, but you could have saved yourself a lot of running around right after you found the sonic thing, because hk-50 can be tricked into saying the whole password in the miner's voice.

I want to say you also get a +1 force regeneration or something like that for fixing him.

I can't get past the Sith Temple on Duxon
Lifthransir Bane replied to TheBestUkester's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I think what you might need to do is put the rest of your party out of sight. The guys yesterday attacked only my party when I was sneaking through-they ignored me totally. -

Lifthransir Bane replied to TheBestUkester's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
funny I did this last night for the second playthrough. My first playthrough I did on my birthday when I was blacked out from extensive last minute shots, so I didn't remember it the second time through. But every now and then I'd see something that would ring a bell, like the darkmatter stuff -
Jedi Consular-Jedi Master/Sithlord

yeah Vrook gets beatable when you get close to 20, but at 14/15 consular, forget it. -
Who should I bring out where?
Lifthransir Bane replied to Jakke Solo's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Atton is a must for the refugee sector on nar shaddah. Bao dur is good for onderon's cantina. HK is good for onderon in general. -
Jedi Consular-Jedi Master/Sithlord
Lifthransir Bane replied to Naver Drol This's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
should be complete cake. the only real problem in the game is if you go ds and do dantooine first with anything other than a guardian/marauder -
someone called me a jackass for saying nonexistant robes don't exist? You're right, I guess. I'll bet you find them in the same room that you slay the dragon in Fable.

[pWIKI] Influence Guide
Lifthransir Bane replied to Boiler98's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Hanharr is very easy to gain influence with through his tree. Goto's tree also gives enough influence to max out. Three more influence gaining specific (as opposed to the general help/hurt ones)events: On onderon if you give a pass to the republc guy while bao-dur is in party, he will say 'I wonder what his mission was' and influence is gained When tobin attacks onderon's cantina, agree with HK that you should kill everyone there and he gives influence When you get into a conversation in the second marketplace in onderon agree with mandalore that vaklu is your best bet and his influence, amazingly, rises Also, any time you are dealing with a droid, try to take t3 Any time you speak to t3, treat him like a person-call him by his name, etc. -
[pWIKI] Influence Guide
Lifthransir Bane replied to Boiler98's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Influence seems to occur through dialogue trees and through three sets of generic interactions. 1) Do something completely selfless-e.g. go way out of your way to help someone will prompt a reaction from an ally. two locations on Nar shaddah where this happens: If you pay the debt of the man who claims that you have the exchange's money, and ask for nothing in return If you succeed in treating the sick man. Atton and Bao-dur respond positively to these actions 2) Brutally kill an innocent. Kreia will hate this, but she will use a mind trick on anyone else in the party, gaining influence for them and losing it for her. Atton will be shocked and you will lose influence, unless you ask him if he's okay, in which case influence is gained. the evil droids will like this, as does hanharr Visas is okay with it. Handmaiden, Bao-dur, and disciple (maybe mira) all freak out. 3) Kill an innocent indirectly Kreia will love this, but everyone else treats it the same as #2 Instances of this occuring are on dantooine, if you tell Jorun that there are no laigreks when there ARE, he will come out, be eaten and Kreia will start laughing. Also if you tell the squid on Nar shaddah that he should kill the sick man before the disease spreads, Kreia will do the same. Dialogue trees If you look evil and want influence with bao-dur or disciple, don't talk to them, try and get influence in other ways Kreia likes that you look evil. I don't know if anyone else cares-atton says he does, but he doesn't and I was able to bluff haindmaiden out of being angry. Specific events I have not found the specific places where there are party member specific events, but I have found some: If you agree to help the mercs on dantooine, whether you are lying or not, Kreia is happy, but handmaiden freaks (even if you explain that you are merely tricking them. Before Goto's ship on Nar Shaddah, when you are fixing the speedbike, take atton and bao-dur with you (one of the parts is in the blind sullustians office, the other two are in dock area). Have atton work out the security and call him an expert. Have bao-dur check your work and tell him he's great. Influence is gained. Any more event specific influence events would be a welcome addition. -
I beat the game and didn't find any of these, stupid random loot system. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yea I really want these robes too, so on my way through the game im goin natural so that if I get one of those I can just head that way and equip it! I agree that the random loot thing is a pain in the butt for these types of things, has anyone actually gotten any of these cuz I'm not sure where to look! :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sorry to burst the bubble here, but those are made-up items

Prestige class triggers
Lifthransir Bane replied to Lifthransir Bane's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
by the time I finished dantooine I was a few points shy from the bottom-e.g. yellow eyes and vericose veins. I restarted the game, so my question is mostly directed towards future playthroughs-I don't want to do something that screws up future playthroughs again. -
Prestige class triggers
Lifthransir Bane replied to Lifthransir Bane's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I had everyone except Mandalore, and turned everyone other than bao-dur into jedi. -
Decided to go the way of the sith assassin this time. Also decided that I would get mira and turn all possibles (except the blond guy, who I didn't have) into jedi. With attempted influence gains. This meant staying barely blue through nar shaddah (which I went to first), and plummeting afterwards. Hit level 15 on the droid ship, still blue because there is nothing evil to do there. Got off, killed the jedi, turned atton and mira into jedi (talked about power) and started my plummet. I didn't talk to kreia until I was in the red. By this point I had enough exp to be around 17, though I hadn't accepted those levels. Kreia won't offer me a prestige class. Finish dantooine (Vrook is HARD at 15 sentinel). Turn handmaiden into jedi. Go around the galaxy finishing evil-gaining quests that I skipped and doing evil-gaining party conversations with HK, Kreia and Go-to in order to plummet my alignment. Ended up at a potential 19 with rubber veins and yellow eyes. Still was not offered prestige class. My question is this: what criterion is used to determine whether kreia offers sith or jedi prestige classes? Do you have to be ON level 15 without enough exp to advance a level? Is there a certain action that flags one or the other, and once it's flagged must you take the prestige class of that side of the force? Or did I just run into some sort of conversation glitch. Note: even when I leveled up to 17, 19 whatever, she still wouldn't offer me a prestige class.

Were you happy with the 'romantic interests' in this game, such as atton and disciple (Bao-dur seems to be a try-sexual)? Are they as appealing as Visas and handmaiden appear to be for us men? I'm playing cross-gendered cross-alignment right now, and while it might just be the old heterosexuality rearing its ugly head, I really want to lose enough influence with them to kill both atton and disciple, though disciple moreso.

Vrook - Design flaw or bug?
Lifthransir Bane replied to Naquada's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Vrook is just hard. Way harder than Treya or the whistling sith guy. I had to fight him alone as 15 consular 2 sith lord. You need to check the combat feedback to see why you are losing to him. Go to the quest menu, hit X, then Y until you get to the combat thing. What finally worked for me was the following. Vrook says something like, 'Get ready to die, sith' I go to the menu -Try to wear something that resists energy, like red robe. -Activate mandalorian power shield. -Give myself hyper strength. -Give myself hyper stamina. -Dex/defense doesn't matter because his attack is high enough that he's not going to miss. -first cast 3rd level force poison spell (affliction?) -then cast master speed. -keep the power shield up any time it goes down via meu -use whatever critical strike you have on Vrook, because the defense loss doesn't matter in his case -if he heals for any reason cast affliction again after kreia says whatever it is pause immediately and use regular medpacs until you get back to 100% health, then do exactly what you did last time I beat him twice because I forgot to save and the game froze. If I did anything different, he handed me my head. -
Okay first of all: putting in spoiler tags is stupid if you're going to put it in the title. Secondly, how on earth do you play for an hour while asleep? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> First off, the title is I am stupid. Secondly I was putting is spoiler tags because it's a location. Freedon Nadd himself is mentioned in the chronicles. Third, I said I blacked out, I didn't say I passed out.

It was my birthday last night and I apparently played this game for about an hour while blacked out. I woke up next to a The saved dialogue just confused me. I need someone to explain what happened in
