  1. I hope that picture at the bottom of your posts is meant to mock the antismoking movement.
  2. Liked Bastila, but Carth really bugged me on Taris when he would always hint that he wanted to talk and then ducked all my questions.
  3. Possible spoiler S S S I'm thinking maybe you get Atton if you're female (the article's character was female) and Mira if you're male (all screenshots I've seen have her with a guy PC) since they serve a similar role.
  4. congratulations on post 1000
  5. While cliche, I don't know if the spywoman thing would be anywhere near the biggest cliche in pop culture. I'd say most talented man in the world at ____ would be the biggest cliche, i.e. both major parts in the Rock, the Bond franchise, the Natural, any Bruce Lee movie (though I love 'em to death), any non-Bruce Lee non-Jackie chan Kung-fu movie, any Hong Kong Cinema swordplay movie, any movie with Schwartzenegger, Stallone or (shudder) Vin Diesel. Kindhearted Mafioso-point taken. Actually this is kind of a reusal of han solo, but older and wealthier. The only thing I can recall with a general who predicts things on instinct, though is Patton, and that's based on, well, Patton the man. I agree that EU shouldn't be blatantly trashed by those who don't know anything about it, which is why I'm keeping my objections to Exar Kun, which is something I do know about.
  6. Far as I know they stopped making new books about 8 years ago, but then again, I kind of forgot about this Massassi Exar Kun crap until that wretched old man in Kotor started talking about it.
  7. I think Akari said that he was right off to work on some new project (might have been NWN2), didn't he?
  8. Darth Drabek??? Being from the 'burgh I think you've just given me some name ideas Darth Coles Darth Gott Darth Dunn Darth Patterson Darth 'Shoes' Reynolds Darth Cangelosi Darth Loscenzo Darth Ortiz Darth Backman and not a 'burgh reference, but Darthness Can Boyd
  9. Atris seems to be the best looking, but a flirtation with Handmaiden seems like it could involve nice tender ropes and beatings. A character called handmaiden...she may as well tell you her name is slave. who to choose?
  10. They still let you say that? I thought Putin cancelled Democracy back in September. (w00t)
  11. How come Luuke isn't on the list? "
  12. I'll buy the Luke argument. I'm strictly talking about up until the rise of the Empire vs. exar kun.
  13. furthermore if the force is unbalanced against the jedi, it must be balanced toward the sith. Yoda didn't seem to struggle too terribly against tyranus, even though the latter was playing with a fixed deck, furthering my theory, based also on what Lucas said in an interview (that I can't admittedly reproduce) that Yoda was the strongest force-user in history prior to the emergence of Sidious and possibly Anakin.
  14. You say the force unbalanced itself. I say Palpatine unbalanced it. Isaac newton agrees with me.
  15. I don't remember what happened in Assyria 4000 years ago, but I know that if the excavation of the miniscule city of Troy is any indication of the historical accuracy of accounts of events from thousands of years ago, things tend to get exaggerated with time. 10 foot walls become thousands of feet high. In Akkad one king builds a ziggurat high enough to touch God. In Denmark a previously unremarkable man rips the arm off a gigantic monster, killing it. On Yavin 4 a sith Lord who shakes the ground with each step kills 10,000 jedi. The jedi in the prequels are weak, because one man-Sidious-is so strong that he can cast a shadow over the entirety of the force. Yoda and Windu are so worried because nothing like this has ever happened before. No one's been strong enough to do it.
  16. I don't know what's more foolish: 1. Critiquing an as yet unplayed game for something as specific as the laziness of its implementation 2. Giving Bill Gates $120 a year for an occasional bugfix
  17. My problem with your argument about the strength of Exar Kun is that the comic books and other materials (Jedi Academy tril) dealing with the old republic stuff were written before Lucas decided/revealed that Vader was to be a kind of Christ figure, who never reached his full potential, and that Yoda was to be the most powerful jedi to that point in history. Both men, by definition, make Exar lesser in comparison. By implication this makes Sidious largely superior to all three. So before Lucas made these choices, your arguments about Exar Kun's nigh-omnipotence would have been valid. However when there is a confliction between the EU and Lucas, Lucas must be sided with, being that he is writing the history. In Biblical terms, saying that Exar Kun is greater than Yoda, Sidious or Vader is like saying that the Egyptian Pharaoh was greater than Moses, Lucifer or Christ.
  18. If Anakin was conceived by the force, it's a safe bet that he's got the most force potential of anyone who wasn't-regardless of the state of the order or what era was being lived in. And I don't think Clarence Battle, or whomever, was conceived by the force. I want to say that Yoda being the most powerful force user in history is something I heard Lucas say in an interview where he was talking about midichlorians around the time of episode 1-the significance being that if Anakin's count was "higher than even Master Yoda's," which was the previous highest count ever seen, the boy could be the greatest jedi in history.
  19. Bottom line is that Yoda was the strongest known force-user in history until Anakin came along and had the potential to outdo him. Yoda and Anakin were the two strongest known jedi/sith until the revealing of Palpatine as such. Sidious apparently bested Yoda and subjugated Anakin for 30 years. The two other strongest force users in history. Temples and force cannons aside, I don't see how Exar can compare to someone of that magnitude.
  20. Revan never mastered the Sith ability that prevented him from occasional occurences of insta-death. He also never learned the ability to prevent execution when convicted in a court of law.
  21. This ability has every NPC in KOTOR. This is part of game mechanics not actual star wars ability. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I know, but it's funnier to talk about it as an actual ability.
  22. Yoda was supposedly the most powerful force user the galaxy had ever seen (before Anakin) and he couldn't stand up to Sidious. I don't think Exar would stand much of a chance against good old Dantius without his temples, which Palpatine could probably also draw upon as well.
  23. Although, I wouldn't mind seeing how Obi-wan's ability to have everything go his way through no particular action of his own would fare when matched up with Revan's ability to survive a dozen or so lightsabre slashes.
  24. I'd love to see Sidious fight Obi-Wan just so I could see Obi-wan's jedi luck ability run out.
  25. Didn't know those sold well enough to make 9. Never tried them, but I hated the Koei game for (s?)nes where you had to pick a side during the american revolution.
