  1. Just you wait for XBOX Home Edition, XBOX Professional, XBOX Mediacenter, XBOX Volume License, XBOX Plus Pack, XBOX SR1, XBOX Developer Version, XBOX CE/Handheld, XPOD etc.
  2. Which is sort of the same problem that Hollywood is having, isn't it? Movie companies whining about the unfaithful movie goers unwillingness to view "Tough Guy XXIII", "Celebrity Skin Show 3" or "Freddy vs. Jason vs. Predator" etc. I suspect there is quite a lot of teeth grinding going on amongst the creative people, the investors and the poor suckers who have to somehow reconcile the two extremes. People too concerned about the formulas of movie making give you "The Phantom Menace", people too unconcerned about the formulas of movie making gives you Uwe Boll. Somewhere in the middle, the good movies exist, and because statistics says so, for x number of unessential but decent movies, a golden nugget is bound to be found. I imagine the game industry works a bit the same way, although I have no insider knowledge of what it is like.
  3. I'd rather have other mutant powers. Nothing the Inquisition can't handle
  4. Are we supposed to? :ninja10: I had heard the name before... think I saw it on one of those "Charts" in a CD/DVD store a year or two ago. I only noticed it because one of my colleagues had won tickets to one of their concerts but couldn't be bothered to go. Not sure what happened to the tickets.
  5. Keep in mind that the original cut of Alien is the true Director's Cut. The "Director's Cut" that is labelled as such was cut by Ridley Scott, but only because when the studio tried to recut it he felt they did a horrible job. His definitive cut is still the original. Which is actually a minute longer. It was interesting when I found this out because it contradicted my previous understanding of what a "Director's Cut" could mean. It was no longer "the cut the director wanted but the studio wouldn't allow," it was "extra scenes to make a buck." Sometimes it is the latter, usually it's the former. I know Some of the stuff was nice, some of it pointless. I can understand why some of the restored stuff didn't even make into the DC version. Still nice to see it on the extras DVD though. I just watched "Aliens" last night. Now, there is a movie which definitely benefits from the 40 minutes of additional footage "put back in", as it actually makes sense and in some ways make for a more coherent movie. I always wondered how Ripley knew how to drive one of those power lifters
  6. Big Gun Dimplomacy... Playing a multitude of games these days (when not catching up on my unseen movie collection) BG1 with ToSC, JA2 with the 1.13 patch, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Planescape Torment, Europa Universalis III (playing Muscowy/Russia) and NWN2/MoTB as a Fighter. Some of the games have been in progress since last Christmas/New Year
  7. I think you would be surprised to discover, which lengths the human mind can go to when in denial.
  8. Actually, the old Netscape 1.0 and 2.0 browsers (which were the first graphical ones I used after using emacs as a hypertext viewer) weren't so bad. It was when they started to add all kinds of stuff, like email, newsreader and what have you into it that it started getting bad. You could say, they tried to cram an operating system into the browser instead of the other way around, forcing the browser into the operating system (which is what Microsoft ended up trying to do). Still, it (netscape) was one of the pioneers in making the internet accessible to the general public.

Nathan Long - "The Blackhearts" Excellent fantasy, just the way I like it. The "good" guys get abused, wronged, humiliated, treated unfairly, reviled, tricked and manipulated... and then they die Ok, so a few survive, i guess they needed to leave it open for a continuation. It was still a well written and well paced story though.
  10. The romans tried that. Just look how that ended...
  11. "Alien" Directors Cut + a lot of the extras content, including the deleted scenes that didn't even make into the DC version. "Aliens" is probably up next.
  12. But, there are so many interesting beans? Cocoa Beans, Baked Beans, Coffee Beans (a personal favourite), Mexican Jumping Beans, Jelly Beans, Mr. Beans, Cool Beans, Lima Beans, Kidney Beans, Green Beans... the list is endless  Ok, so a different recipe every now and then is probably not a bad thing, but with publishers being bean counters, odds are they will go with stuff that is predictable if given a choice. Makes it easier to manage expectations for share holders.
  13. It makes you wonder though, how long his mum is going to hang on to those eggs and greens when shotgun armed thugs start roaming the country side, thinking it easier to take crops rather than grow crops? Evolution in action.
  14. And isn't this topic from before the game was released? Yes. Sad thing is, I even remember some of those guys from the start of the thread. I wonder what became of Ghostofanakin and Product of the Cosmos has the rare honour of being one of the few regular inhabitants on my ignore list back then
  15. I know that feeling... Currently busy with: 1) Tearing off the shrink wrap of my Alien Quadrology DVD set (bought quite a while ago) 2) Determining which pizza to take out of the freezer 3) trying to decide which wine will go with pizza Then, after pizza and wine, I am going to watch an Alien movie or two.
  16. I usually buy special editions/collectors editions of games (when possible/reasonable)... I noticed that there wasn't any special or collectors edition of Mask of The Betrayer availble. Did I miss something or isn't there any? If not, are there any plans to make one? I was sort of disappointed in not getting a little plastic mask and a jar of neon green spirit essense jelly
  17. Did they ever make posters out of any of that concept art? Some of the stuff would make excellent merchandising, I for one would love a poster sized jeanette on my computer room wall Umm... no pictures of my desktop. It is a plain blue Windows XP desktop with way too many icons cluttering it :blush10:
  18. Ironically, if eye witnesses (including a US reporter/photographer on site) are to be believed, none of the suggested measures would have made any difference. Apparantly she was shot when she stood up in her car, waving at the crowds. A bullet proof vest under her clothes would have gone a long way to prolong her political career. The gunman blew himself up after the assassination.
  19. Lets see how good my negotiating skills are: "...suggests that the sexual innuendo takes the backseat and keep a low profile, in return the thread can stay open..." Was that good or what?
  20. Not sure what you have there To the best of my knowledge, the only available "real" patch for PC is 1.0b (which I downloaded manually as sw_pc_english_from200424_to210427.exe). There is also a 1.0a if I remember correctly, but that one just updates the manual/readme or some such. Another slightly independend patch (not officially supported by LA, but made by Obsidian) is the media patch which gives you higher resolution FMV's and better quality music. A bit on the large side though
  21. Is she one of these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Female_serial_killers ? Edit: Today was the first day that my brain realised that I am on annual leave and not at work. I think I will go out in my garden, grab a chair, sit in the shade and enjoy a cold drink. The world be damned
  22. Try imagine North America without fuel for 5 years...? No phones (including cellphones), no computer networks, no tv, no radio, no cars, no trains, no airplanes... No delivery of produce from the country side to the cities, no deliveries of farming equipment from the industrial areas to the farmlands... No schools or education save whatever books and papers you might be lucky to find, either in libraries or abandoned book stores... A system made up of specialists, who are all bricks in the wall, starts to crumble. It doesn't matter that you have a degree or two in physics if you can't catch your food once the canned stuff have been scavenged from the grocery stores. The most likely survivors will be the generalists, who can do a variety of essential survival tasks. Fishing, hunting, growing crops (without advanced technology) and perhaps a few demagogues who can BS others into doing the work for them. Without an infrastructure in place, we are nothing. I would say, it is quite easy to imagine really
  23. Agreed. This is where the tech savvy people hang out.
  24. Now in right forum...
  25. Oh noes, can you ever forgive me? In that case, I wont tell you who you are going to face in the end... But I am busy fighting her minions.
