  1. I always found that both Kotor games had waaay too many droids in them And selkath, any selkath is too many selkath Seriously though, too many droids.
  2. I did the same mistake, played a male malkav in my first game. Also neglected my combat skills and had give up in a certain boss battle, backtrack my steps to a previous save and make a different decision regarding what path to take. I can definitely recommend Nosferatu for a different gaming experience though, even if it might not be for everybody. I played a female one to boot, just for the hot leather wear. Despite it's technical issues, an awesome game
  3. Lets see how this poor thread likes it in Skeeters Junkyard Sorry, not having an external mp3 player, I have no constructive input.
  4. Yes, both the official patch and the official unofficial media patch can be downloaded seperately from the internet and copied to the computer you have Kotor2 installed on. You might need a DVD if you want the full media patch though, although not strictly necessary (just requires quite a few cds then).
  5. It runs surprisingly well (i.e. no lag or stuttering) on my 4.5 year old pc, a pentium4 2.8ghz and 2gb ram (and something was state of the art gfx card 4.5 years ago) on 1024x768 resolution and most fun effects on.
  6. Agreed. I think if they are going to keep the influence system, stop with the "Influence Gained" messages. Just put your influence level on the character sheet and leave it at that, then if you really want to know your influence level, you can find it, but it doesn't interrupt gameplay with numbers. It should be configurable, ideally, just as the messages of damage (hitpoints) can be toggled on/off, for example. A most excellent idea I think I'll join the club of "Longer is Better". I don't really play a lot of games, but those I play, I play a lot.
  7. Always have a game in back up in case the one you are playing fails. DS failed in keeping my attention. Back to basics. I keep switching between Europa Universalis III (now ruling most of Europe, North and South America plus a few african possessions) and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. when I need to exercise my headshot skills (not to mention that I find it an awesome post apocalyptic experience).
  8. Only if you have an obsessive compulsive need to solve as many side quests as possible (it is unessential for the game and only gives a few xp/credits)
  9. There are a number of "breakable" quests in the game unfortunately.
  10. Kotor2 keeps seperate sets of saves for each character *name*, so if you have played for a while, gone back to the menu and created a new character (with the name generator) it will appear as if the old saves are gone (being associated with your old character name). There is a button called "switch" where you can switch between the different set of saves. Could that be where it has gone? As for Nar Shaddaa, I am not 100% sure that it is the red eclipse that is supposed to trigger the Visquis sequence alone, but an internal variable that needs to reach a certain number, totalling up all your actions on the planet. Maybe the "squeeky" little guy (can't remember his name) in the entertainment district can give you an indicator (for the mere bargain of 5 credits mind you)?
  11. *having visions of customs agents opening camera case full of bees...* From personal experience... HANG ON TO YOUR PASSPORT! With a bit of luck, I should get a new one in two weeks time from the local consulate. You might not be so lucky elsewhere in the world
  12. This thread is being retired for a multitude of reasons. Just to give one excuse: Not to mention, even if the EA bashing enabled people to let off a little steam, it seems like it was headed down the path of bickering. I have a feeling we havent by far heard the last of Bioware and EA though.
  13. Looks like this thread has strayed a bit far from Elder Scroll games and their add-ons into... *something* Feel free to take up the subject again if somebody has relevant info and/or suggestions to add about aforementioned games.
  14. Ive made 5 attempts to express my loathing for that scumpit, but I cant without using *** words so Ill just say that no artist of integrity would go near that place. How about http://www.cgsociety.com/ ? I find it a bit tricky to navigate, but has a lot of links and references.
  15. And speaking of obscure... this thread I believe served it's purpose. Glad to hear it won't affect your computer fund Azue79
  16. Thread shortened by a few unnecessary comments...
  17. These days it is equally unpopular when people leave three suitcases and an articulated rucksack unsupervised in the Hauptbahnhof. Odds are the bomb squad will run away with it before a thief gets to it.
  18. It's a dirty trick to prevent dead horse beating, I tell you!
  19. I know it isn't much help, but just a suspicion. A quick search on dual + core in this particular forum reveals quite a few threads where people have similar symptoms. They all have dual core cpu's in common. Can't say for sure if it applies to your particular situation, or even what the fix might be though, sorry
  20. It could be that you just don't like that type of game. Or maybe anything you don't like is terrible, my apologies. BF1942, BF2, and BF2142 are three of the best games I've ever played. I got BF1942 and the first expansion (Road to Rome) as well as BF Vietnam. I love both of them and never really understood what the general dislike of BF Vietnam is about  I tried my little brothers BF2 once and didn't like it. Never tried BF2142, something about it being online play only if I remember correctly. I might dislike the rumoured internal workings of EA and what they have done to some development studios in the past (I miss Origin), but I do like some of their games. Without EA, I would never have gotten the Obsidian games in the first place, as they are the distributors (of the Kotor games) in New Zealand.
  21. Yeah, the "surface" combat wasn't so bad (I do have whichever one that allows you to choose firing modes from 1, 2 or A... I use 2). While being quite decent team workers, you can still outmaneuvre the enemies, especially if you don't have any qualms about letting the other guys on your side get some of the attention while you get around them. They probably never saw the headshots coming from their flanks. The problem is the basement, where I have to pass through a doorway, with what I think is two army guys waiting on each side of the doorway on the other side of the wall. I can't squeeze myself close enough to the wall to just face one at a time, as the other guys invariably gangs up on me in an area with little room for moving around. If I knew that once I was through, I would get a break, I could probably solve the dead lock with a grenade thrown at the guys on one side and then running through the doorway with my gun on full auto trying to take them out asap, still leaving a couple of opponents, but at least I would only have to face enemies in one direction. Besides, as I have found out, there is nothing to gain from prolonged firefights in this game except jammed guns and deteriorating body armour Reminds me a bit of some of the tactical decisions you need to do when playing Jagged Alliance 2. Now where is the C4 and detonator when you need to remove a wall?!?
  22. I know the place you are talking about. None of the dogs really stood out in a crowd though and early in the game I used the "Take All" button, gathering bits and pieces of different animals, so maybe I was just unlucky and none was there. I've changed my approach and only take "go and find" type assignments when I actually have the xyz in my inventory Since I can't carry unlimited loot, I've had to made some hard decisions too now, like what to keep, what to stash in boxes around in the country side, in case i need it later and finally, just to leave stuff behind... A packrat like me really hates leaving stuff behind >_ I ran into an armed gang of guys guarding a big gate leading north. I assume I have to do something elsewhere to progress past that point. Currently I am stuck at the lower levels of Agroprom though.
  23. So, finding a bit of time in between sessions of Europa Universalis, I play Stalker. Let me start by saying that, I love this game. Very much so. Unfortunately, liking a game does note equal excelling at it. Two problems so far, one insignificant and one that is more tricky. The trader want's a dog part, not just from any dog, but a pseudodog. I've killed every canine I've come across so far, yet no matching dog part (I got some tails I think, but not what he wanted). Any particular good places to go looking for that particular breed? That was the insignificant part. Not sure what happens long term when failing these go and fetch missions. More tricky is how the heck do you survive the lower parts of the Agroprom research facility? Especially the regular army guys (at least that is what I think they are) are making my life miserable. I survive the tentacled guy with the "predator" style cloaking skill allright (a bit of running, dodging and emptying my shotgun where I think his head is). But the army guys are very good at creating a killzone at the doorway I have to pass through, no matter what I try, they always end up being able to bring two guys guns to bear on me. Do I have to pass through these basements to progress the game (part of "Kill Strelok") or can I just skip this part and navigate around them and go elsewhere? Should I just spend some of my precious handgrenades instead? I had great fun with these when defending the first stalker camp at Garbage. I really need to practise my headshot skills...
  24. One of my favourite parts of the forum guidelines: It seems like this topic has outlived it's intention and through the heated debate of posters rather than ideas add to the global average temperature. Sad attempt at witty closing remark, I know
