  1. I was taught swimming in the North Sea. Not particularly pleasant (rather frigid waters), but you had to make do with what you had. Pools are a luxury that only some schools have access to. Making last preparations for a trip to Melbourne. Looking forward to watching The Wizard of Oz as a stage production (musical)
  2. The onboard Intel "Gfx" were just too awful. Bought the cheapest card I could find that would work as a stop gap solution. Got myself a 4GB Asus GTX 1050 Ti. I was positively surprised actually, only game that struggles so far is The Witcher III, but I could tone down the settings a bit. Everything else it runs almost as well as my old laptop (Gtx 880m card with 8GB) Even better, the single fan makes no audible noise, the whole thing being drowned out by the rather noisy WD Black HDD's When not seeking on the disks, I have to really struggle to hear the PC at all, even when under load.
  3. Not going to link to it... but last game i bought was 'Genital Jousting' from Steam. The single player mode is fun enough, but we need to find a few more players for multi-peen play Edit: Actually bought a second game just before it that I can link to...
  4. Sorry, no youtube video. We're going Melbourne to see this in about 3 days from now. I'm really looking forward to it http://www.wizardofozthemusical.com/tickets/melbourne/
  5. Sounds like me and Dragon Age Inquisition... Maybe in ten years time?
  6. I really tried to like Overwatch.... Got no less than 4 good friends who play it several times a week. I just couldn't get interested in it. Edit: When not playing Borderlands 2 and Age of Empires 2 (both in 3-4 people co-op sessions), then I enjoy The Witcher III and Master of Orion 2
  7. Yes, new accounts need a number of approved posts before they can post without approval. In case anybody wonders why, you should see the number of unapproved spam posts by bots that gets removed before people see them
  8. Yeah, the "better" ones seems to be around USD $1100 here at the moment. It might be possible to find it cheaper overseas (with the risk that comes with that) Edit: By comparison the price for the rest of the build (including OS and Office) was USD $2500 in todays exchange rates (got the ram cheap from Newegg)
  9. A crime against humanity! Edit: For the uninitiated, being an ethnic Dane, I'm genetically disposed towards mocking out Swedish cousins.
  10. Removed a few recent posts. Being negative is fine, how it is expressed does matter though. Less personal and more constructive please? If people want to disagree with moderating calls, send a PM and keep the thread "clean"
  11. I need to research the gfx card market a bit, but I wanted to boot the thing up and get running already
  12. Have you tried Mechromancer? The game gets positively insane if you play an Anarchy build and hit high numbers on its stacks. Level 52 Gaige.... currently maxed out in the BFF skill tree, so not quite maxed out yet in Anarchy. But I love it. Especially with the 'Close Enough' and 'The N'th Degree' skills (yet to get 5 skill points in the latter, so not feeling its full effect) "Accuracy is overrated anyway" We started on 'Tiny Tina's assault on Dragons Reach'. Bunkers and Badasses indeed. It's like watching some of those old and funny cartoons of very bad D&D sessions
  13. New desktop build... Casing Corsair Carbide Quiet 600Q Inverse ATX Full Tower Case PSU Dark Power Pro 11 1000W Power Supply Motherboard Asus ROG Strix Z370-F Gaming LGA 1151 ATX Motherboard CPU/CPU Cooler Intel Core i7 8700K Six Core LGA 1151 3.7 GHz Dark Rock Pro 3 RAM (x2 for 64GB total) Corsair 32GB (2 x 16GB) CMK32GX4M2B3000C15 DDR4 3000MHz Vengeance LPX HDD (boot) Intel 760p Series M.2 NVMe SSD 512GB HDD (other) (x2 for 12TB total) Western Digital Black WD6002FZWX 6TB Optical Drive (does dvd, blu-ray and m-disc writing) LG BH16NS55 GFX On-board Intel Running Windows 10 Pro and I also bought an Office 2016 Home and Business edition (yeah, I like Outlook, shoot me)
  14. I didn't even think about that connection! Thanks Mate
  15. I decided that my old laptop is so old it's becoming a liability having it as my only pc at home, so started building a new desktop pc. No liquid cooling this time. Completely lost when it comes to gfx cards these days (bastard bitcoin miners). Currently using the built in Intel "graphics" that came with the motherboard
  16. Saw this show in Brisbane not long ago
  17. Really bad sound quality, sorry. Peoples phones just weren't up to the task. Went and saw these guys a week ago (we are somehwere not too far from the stage). I wish we had some HQ recording from the concert...
  18. Not the Melbourne concert unfortunately, couldn't find any good recordings from the event: (the concert below was just a few weeks earlier, comparable performance although the Melbourne audience were considerably "livelier" with crowd surfing and everything else that goes with an animated bunch of people)
  19. I've been gone so long, I guess I should call my post "What do you do this year?" Started in a new job about a month ago, so that was an exciting time. But, to start from the beginning, made a friend playing swtor about a year ago. We don't play the game anymore, but that wasn't quite the end of it. I guess you could say, it's a bit more than just a casual online friendship. Spending quite a bit of time doing things together, attending concerts, shows, performances or just checking out the local Pancake Palace at 2am, trekking through the local rain forests etc.. The downside of living in two different corners of the country I guess, have to make maximum use of the time we do have. We went and saw Disney's Aladdin in Melbourne, as well as concerts with US bands 'Incubus' and 'The Killers' I also got to see 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' in Brisbane, alone unfortunately, but she was adamant I had to go and see it, even if she couldn't make it. Got tickets for Opera House in Sydney, so we are going to see Bill Murray and Jan Vogler there later this year. I feel culturally very enlightened Edit: Going to put some youtube links in the appropriate thread
  20. My new favourite game is Borderlands 2.... Killed a few raid bosses with my friends. Got a level 72 Siren that I'm trying to get to OP1 A level 58 Commando that I'm trying to get the hang of A level 52 Psycho which is my absolute favourite so far. When not playing Borderlands 2, it's usually Age of Empires II (HD edition)
  21. Scum and Villainy used to be a very fun raid on nightmare. I don't know if the instance made it through all the upscaling and expansions intact though. It's been well over two years now that I last played SW:TOR. With a bit of luck, I'll be able to tell you in a not so distant future. For now, we still got a pair of twin sisters to bring down.
  22. Words are insufficient to describe the damage Ben Irving (the old lead producer) did to this game. Hats off to the new guy, who at least tries some damage control by adding new multiplayer content and reducing the cxp grind a bit. Still, the latter should just have been removed completely. I quite enjoyed the new flashpoint, although I guess it's boring outside of "master mode". It really has some nice challenges in the various boss fights! My friends and I almost beat Trial and Error in master mode too about a week ago, but damn, the last boss just knocked the stuffing out of us when we got there. Wasted soooo much time on the second boss(es, since they are a pair) THe main activity is on the weekends though where our raid team regularly kills Tyth so we can progress on A&E. Getting the twins down to around 20% now, which is effectively the burn phase where you have to start pushing them into overdrive mode and get rid of the tank swap requirement. We still struggle to control the countermeasures in this phase, which is what wipes us (healers getting too many stacks, so less and less healing forthcoming). We'll get them too though. But... I &^%$$ hate Tyth by now. You can do everything perfectly and not stand a chance thanks to RNG when the adds spawn. We started swapping lockouts with some other guilds occasionally, cross faction too, so we don't have to kill him each and every Saturday. I believe once the sisters are down, NiM Scum and Villainy is next on our schedule (keeping my old shadow tank busy!)
  23. Didn't vote and for what it's worth, my thoughts are very similar to Teknomans on the subject. If there are story differences, I play through as both genders, if no difference, I couldn't care less. If the only difference is a visual one, then yes, I prefer to stare at female butts when running around. If a fixed protagonist, I just lean back and enjoy. I had fun playing the nameless one in Planescape: Torment just as I had fun playing Lara Croft n Tomb Raider. Both of the latter were for me games where gender was completely irrelevant to the experience. Ok, so Lara did look good in that wetsuit...
  24. The Danish one sounds about right too (archaic spelling though. The 'j' isn't really used anymore)
  25. Been there, asked that question in the past! (April 2006) (from an old ask FU a number of questions thread) "I'm cheating outragously and posting two questions in one post: 1) Business Development Manager being part of your description, what is in your personal assessment at the time of writing the most profitable (ROI ?) market gaming wise and will you/Obsidian have a go at that market ? Why/Why not ? Not so much platforms, but game genres and demographic target groups. 2) How do you (and your fellow Obsidianites for that matter) feel about merchandising ? Will we see g-strings with Obsidian logos, t-shirts with your resident artists concept art on them, coffee cup with your portrait on it etc. I for one would buy at least 5 cups, one with each company founder on it, if it would support one of those less profitable isometric party based crpgs being self published and developed...
