  1. That's good to know. Do they level up if they are not on your current roster or fall behind?
  2. I feel like to an extent that this is something we have to live with because isometric. The inherent lack of ability to rotate the camera is going to make combat occasionally awkward. Unsure if it would be immersion breaking but a toggled no-backdrop top-down tactical view that just showed the relative position of players and monsters might be nice (2d icons similar to the custom formation deal). That way you could issue orders cleanly if it gets a bit messy. I'd be happy if the selected character(s) had a more distinct target ring though.
  3. For your first question, I'm pretty sure its just reporting the current stage's quest exp and then the total experience awarded for the Quest. It won't include combat XP. There is no general combat XP award as far as I know. There is a limited amount of XP you get for killing beasts as you learn about them by fighting them and fill out the bestiary. you gained 67/245 experience point. What does that mean? Every type of creature you fight (ie bear, wolf etc) has a progression in the bestiary. When you receive 100% XP (in your example that would be 245 points in total) you no longer get experience for fighting that animal type. I'm curious about the NPC levelling as well. Do they gain XP awards if they are not on the roster?
  4. Okay, even if they could do the different strokes for different folks thing, because they can't, how is it a "brilliant" idea? And how is it a good roleplay option to say that Wizards can't possibly be strong and intimidating and therefore could never physically intimidate people? People aren't defined by their classes. They're supposed to be defined by their attributes and your roleplaying; your class is just an abstract set of rules that simulate your character's chosen adventuring career. It's like saying, "An accountant really shouldn't be intimidating people with the strength and size of his muscles." Not all Wizards are glass-boned elves with porcelain skin who dissolve into fairy dust in a stiff breeze. Not all Fighters are big hulking thugs in heavy armor swinging mattocks. The problem is that the Might responses are very often specifically quite physical. Its not a good option to say that Wizards can't be physical, but its a very bad option to declare that they are in order to use their attribute's dialogue options if the intent is that Might != Strength! For example, my Priest's Mighty option earlier today was to pick someone up... Its quite possible to have a threatening, mighty dialogue choice that is ambiguous as to the actual nature of the threat leaving the details to the player's imagination.
  5. I don't get that at all. Occasionally I'll find someone goofing off but they attack pretty well. Do you have a lot of melee in your party's composition?
  6. I personally would never use this other than to see how it works. But it seems like the animations are in the game (per cut scenes) so it shouldn't hurt to add it? But if it takes time away from stuff like people with unplayable saves (Raedric Hold load bugs) or fixing broken player files (double-click killed passives) then it should obviously wait for now.
  7. Hey I found the zoom command. SetZoomRange X Y Where X is the closest and Y is the furthest. 0.25 1.5 working well for me.
  8. Unsure about the background textures, I think they have a limit that is less than max zoom in unfortunately. Would love to be able to download a very-high-res pack for these for people who have the hardware and disk space so that they never have to scale up.
  9. How is No Rest for the Pro even possible?! Guess you'd have to do it on Easy, complete every quest to be over-levelled, and only rest for the absolute toughest fights? Could probably do No Knockouts reasonably easily save-scumming.
  10. Yeh its a bit of a trade off with text clarity. 2560 native isn't sharp so I don't personally miss out Glad to hear you got it going. Also starting and stopping Steam can get a bit wobbly with GeDo running - if it stops working just Deactivate GeDo and let Steam open fully before starting PoE. There's some ambiguity about VAC status. Although nobody has been censured for it to date I wouldn't use it for anything competitive just to be safe. Let me know if you get anywhere with console commands, I would like to be able to zoom in another notch or two.
  11. The mouse thing for me did hapen, but it was soted out by using the modifyGetCursorPos setting. Make sure you've saved into the main settings file I guess; did you try the config from the pastebin? Text in the game is unfotunately not crisp at any resolution over 1080p. I didn't notice it to much because it was just how it was when I ran the game normally for me (scaling to 2560 wasn't too much different to native here). That said it wasn't ridiculously bad so I wonder if you have the target res right! Make sure you changed the target resolution to your screen's native 1080 resolution in the config if you pasted my config in directly as its set up for a 2560 screen. Not sure otherwise sorry =\
  12. Playing on Hard, played a bunch of Baldur's Gate. Have bought that stupid game 4 times now; original CDs, the EE, GoG and for some reason on the iPad too. Found the game a lot harder to start with, especially before I rounded out my party and completed more side quests before advancing the main line too much. Got smashed pretty hard a couple of times going too hard on the main quest We're level 5 now and doing well now.
  13. If you're getting 130 frames at 1080 then its certainly viable. How well it actually works out will depend on lots of factors. GeDoSaTo is a technical thing to set up (you need to edit a configuration file) and its not especially friendly, but worst case is probably just that you can't get it to work The goal though is to be able to select 3840x2160 as your resolution in game basically.
  14. The crafting and enchanting system in PoE is significantly more detailed than in BG. I think its pretty good, considering that crafting and enchanting was the result of a 100k stretch goal? I certainly wouldn't consider it insulting..
  15. As a unity game, NVIDIA DSR doesn't work But there are ways! Downsampling is a relatively advanced thing to do, and you'll need a grunty system, running at 80 or more FPS at your normal resolution. I use GeDoSaTo which works with Unity games - GeDo is quite safe (has been around for a few years now) but if you research how to do it you do so at your own peril! Anyone else downsampling from 4k? The results are just spectacular, imo: Straight PNG animation at http://gifmaker.cc/PlayFrameAnimation.php?folder=2015032820nOlslJez6qksp4lKHEvVGo I think its because the models are relatively detailed but have to be also very small that it works so well. I needed these options to get gedo to work well (ripped from a helpful post at neogaf!) clearRenderResolutions renderResolution 3840x2160@60 forceAlwaysDownsamplingRes true modifyGetCursorPos true Pastebin of my config: http://pastebin.com/9d2B0Am9 Something I've noticed though, is that as you increase the resolution, the render is significantly zoomed out - and it gets worse the higher you go. 4x my monitor's native resolution (5120x2880) the game is not really fun to play as you can't zoom into combat very well Otherwise though its well worth playing around with if you are technically adept Anyone have any tips?
  16. They will patch it, but it takes time. In the interim people are discovering and suggesting workarounds which is both helpful and appropriate, especially for those who do not want to start a new game.
  17. Is a known bug. Try deleting the destination zone file from your save game using 7zip to open the archive (back up first!). The zone I went to fully repopped when it was recreated, but otherwise managed to carry on, so try to pick a destination where it won't break your progress too badly I guess. Otherwise there are solutions in the main thread to warp out using cheats (will kill achievements) or wait for 1.03 I guess.
  18. I used 7zip to delete the zone file I was trying to get into (priest level). Had to fight back out again but it was no biggy in the scheme of things. Created a dedicated save in town and was able to complete the quest by slaughterising them. This solution did not kill achievements for me, got my Act 1 cheeve today.
  19. Yeh saw this, looking forward to turning it on for second playthrough.
  20. Unsure how I missed this huge thread before posting, oh wait I know how, its 3am and I've been playing Pillars all day QA dude asked for my save etc so maybe they're looking into it. Good to see that there is a cheat to get out of Raedric Hold so I won't lose my game. It sucks to lose achievements but I will probably use that tomorrow if there isn't a posted non-cheaty fix.
  21. Sure thing, all attached! output_log.txt 96cccfd8-3d49-45b7-9429-49bccda2f7f2 quicksave.zip DxDiag.zip
  22. Have played up to about level 4 and working through Raedric's Hold and my save is broken I'm on a rampart above the priest area and when I zone back down the UI is totally black with a red cancel / no smoking cursor and nothing works - game eventually crashes out with the Close Program / Wait dialog: There is no crash dump. Save is Steam Cloud. This absolutely sucks and I'm gutted ... Is there any support provided other than peer support on the forum?
  23. Your graphics card does not meet the minimum requirements for the game. It is significantly below spec (minimum is a Radeon HD 4850). Quick online comparison, you're lucky it runs at all. http://www.game-debate.com/gpu/index.php?gid=864&gid2=180&compare=intel-hd-graphics-4000-mobile-vs-mobility-radeon-hd-4850
  24. Awesome thanks for taking the time to reply Good to hear that (very) high resolution has been tested. Looks like I'm lugging my monitor home from work tomorrow then
