  1. Try replacing the "because they were male" with "because they were black" (or white, or whatever). Then maybe you'll get it. Oh I get it. The joke is stupid regardless. Causing a lot of drama about it is almost as stupid. If you can't handle ignoring insensitivity, the adult world is going to get pretty rough. So why not allow racism? Or nastiness in general? Both exist to a great extent in the world as well. There's a difference between personal insensitivity and institutional insensitivity. The former should be ignored. The latter should be met with public outrage.

  3. bad jokes are bad jokes. This particular joke is bad and tasteless. I don't believe it's worthy of bringing out the censorship gavel.
  4. I'm sorry that you are offended that I exercise my freedom of speech to point out hurtful content that adds nothing to the game. I hope that Obsidian, as the artists whose created the game, make the right artistic call and opt to cut this particular iota of content which adds nothing at best and sours the experience of the game for lots of people at worst. Rest assured I don't think you are a terrorist though. Source? I'm offended by religion. Priests should be removed from this game. Nice false equivalency bro. How so?

  6. I think I got a different game from a lot of other people. I'm probably half way through the game and the only bugs I've noticed have been extremely minor. Mostly misaligned text a couple of scripts triggering oddly, but ultimately work out fine. I guess I should be glad I got a different version of the game than all you folks that are having an alleged bug-fest. Thanks for hooking me up, Obsidian!
  7. I like how a cookies thread devolved into what's now essentially an unfocused rant about other video game companies. It's threads like these that brighten my day a little.
  8. My above post addressed the cloth map, but the game manual isn't tiny. It's the same size as every other game manual ever. It just looks tiny when it's next to the enormous CE box.
  9. I don't think I got the same map as some of you. Admittedly, mine is mildly blurry, but I think it looks fine. Based on the descriptions here I was expecting a washcloth with random splotches of color. True, it could have been better, but it could have been a whole lot worse. If they did go with a budget printer: good. I'd rather they have spent more money making the game itself, than spending way more than they should have making a photo-realistic cloth map. Their priorities were clearly exactly where they needed to be, and the physical goods are fine. All is as it should be.
  10. Bioware are probably just buttering up Obsidian to write their next Dragon Age game
  11. I really like how the music has been designed to enhance the "feel" of different areas. So far I've noticed it the most at the Stronghold, where there's a very LOTR Shire-esque theme playing to help the area feel more safe and home-like. In the beta I felt the music was good, but hearing the music in context with different areas and such adds a lot to the atmosphere. Normally I disable background music in games because it detracts from immersion, but this is one of the few games where I think the background music actually adds to the immersion. I've only just begun Act 2; I'm looking forward to hearing more. Just one more thing for me to love about this game.
  12. Just as protons need electrons to balance the universe, Lephys needs Wafflebum. All is well.
  13. Doesn't 92 updates over 2 1/2 years equate on average to 3ish updates/month? Shame on them for never communicating with us.
  14. Bah, don't try to hide the fact I'm more versed in Dragon Age lore than you are. Which is something embarrassing to brag about... am pretty sure that the use o' Ban, as a title o' nobility, predates dragon age by a few years... or a few centuries. HA! Good Fun! I was more bragging about knowing the correct spelling from the game. My knowledge of actual history is limited to "America is best." First know use of Ban as tittle for nobility is over thousand years ago in book called "De Administrando Imperio" ("On the Governance of the Empire"). And what is the word derived from?

  18. Update on that should be coming up in the next few days. Obsidian (and Paradox) decided to air freight the rewards to Europe to try and get the rewards to backers faster. it is more expensive, but we are trying to get people their goods as fast as possible. From the Official Keys Thread Thanks! And a huge LOL @Obsidian for their ****ed up communication. I mean thanks for sending the stuff by airmail, really, but why not communicating that properly? I would have been much more happy today if I already knew that I will get my stuff much sooner... They've been a little overwhelmed lately as one might imagine. I think they've been erring on the side of making sure things get done in time instead of necessarily communicating it effectively to everyone. Source: I forum-stalk Brandon.
