  1. Not necesserily. Developing from scratch means more testing and longer development cycle. If you get an engine, which was around for a while, chances are you will need to debug less code, as well as there possibly will be forums and mailing lists to get help and check on reported bugs.
  2. Heh. I don't much books outside of my computer. Although there are lots in txt files (I can upload them on PDA and read anywhere). I don't own any tech books at all, virtually everything can be found online, if not, I go to my uni library. The only book on my desk now is Introduction to Discrete Mathematics, which I didn't open from when I finished the course.
  3. I like the special ham you brought to this thread *munch munch munch*
  4. On the other hand, when alignment change dynamically, your character is known to prefer certain alignment choices, and your party will know you are evil if you do evil things. But it really is not tied with alignment but rather with change of it, though. Another way would be indirect influence. If your character is famous enough (or at least known to a group of people), other characters could potentially figure your alignment, so the social environment in general can have a biased reaction based on your alignment.
  5. No, out of the oven in some Italian pizza shop. Once you find a good one, you'd hate Pizza Hut as I do.
  6. The only pizza which is actually any good is home-made and freshly out of the oven.
  7. Forgot to mention seafood pizzas last time. Love 'em. PS Yes it has octopus too.
  8. Sorry to disappoint you, but you are like the 100th person asking that and the answer is NO, there is no kotor3 in development.
  9. Yay! Another kotor3 thread!
  10. This thread is so getting closed.
  11. No sewers? I love this game more and more.
  12. That's all relative. Just look at the border police between Finland and Russia.
  13. And what is not intuitive about that concept? When a combatant in a melee lets her guard down, opponents nearby can take immediate advantage to make one attack for free. Dodge is speed, deflection is using one item to deflect an attack, you can't deflect one attack with more than one item, hence end up using the best item. Now you tell me how is that less intuitive than inverted armor class in 2nd Ed.

Now I won't go there for sure.
  15. "the grandmaster of Iron Crotch"
  16. I am actually one of them.
  17. I must say here that AC in 2nd Ed was extremely counter-intuitive. In real life most things get better when they go up, why should game ruleset be the other way around?
  18. How does this enable you to easily slay dragons? Some dragons are too powerful and there must be unwinnable fights (or characters actually) in the game just for player to fear them.
  19. But those who want "correct" level progression speed will certainly love that the party moves at "correct" speed.
  20. More from The Daily WTF
  21. Non-profit organizations are subject to regulations too. They would not withstand a few audits, if what you are saying was the case, and we would see many of them close down.
  22. The movie is based on novels by Sergei Lukyanenko, and it is not exactly a vampire setting, though it features some. The idea is there is a secret "mage" underground in today's world with Dark and the Light "sides" (), but there is no direct confrontation. Centuries ago both sides agreed on maintaining a balance, because domination of one provokes bloodshed and chaos. So Night Watch is "light side" monitoring "dark side" at night and Day Watch monitors "light side". Vampires must get permits for fresh human blood. The novels rotate about political intrigues, but movie is action and loses most of it and is not that interesting. I haven't played the game, but those who did mainly complained it is too short and easy. BTW, It is the first industrial experience like that in Russia, if I didn't miss anyting else.
