The repetitious vocal elements (swearing, outbursts, etc), if true, would bother me also. I hope that if this really is an issue, OE will add more variety to it. That appears to the biggest gripe by PS, who coincidentally has a nice voice for radio / dubs. It's the small things that matter, and I agree that if I heard the same several lines over and over again (feels like I'm commenting on a Bethesda game..), I would be quite annoyed. Hopefully there is time to add more variety.

or you could enable the console (google it) and use the warp command. I used KSE to find the map names. 'warp per101' or 'warp har212' are two examples.

Unreal Engine 3 report, going to see alot of it so
agris replied to kumquatq3's topic in Computer and Console
Ya, the fact that the Unreal engine is used in a lot of shooters has no bearing on the rendering and graphics portion of it. Oh, and the online RPG Epic is refering to is most likely Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. -
Ok, sorry for making a 2nd topic in 24 hours. On the Dorms level in Peragus, I swear the 'turbolift computer' next to Coorta's body is bugged for me. When I try to 'use' the computer, nothing happens. No computer 'dialogue' pops up, nothing. I'm 99% sure I'm not missing anything here, and that the terminal just wont respond. So I zipped up my save and I'm hoping one of you could try it and see if the computer responds for you. Thanks

No one has any suggestions? This is massively frustrating.
-
In the Domitories level, I've collected all the holologs and datapads; found Coorta's body and his hololog, but when I go to the player at the top of the map, it says it is Encrypted and then nothing plays. I have the journal entry where my character knows the first three numbers are 3,17,13 but doesn't know the other two. The turbolift computer next to Coorta's body is unresponsive. When I click it, the game freezes for a moment, then speeds up but the computer doesn't register that I've "used" it. I keep clicking, hitting 'r' and nothing happens. What am I missing?

Isn't .ogg a open source thing, so there would have been no licensing fees? Maybe I'm mistaken.
-
Why would they not use .ogg is the real question. A 64kbps .ogg file sounds as good as a 128 - 192 constant bit-rate mp3. If you do VBR (variable bit-rate) .ogg between 50 - 100, you have sound that is the equivalent of high-end VBR mp3s while taking up so much less space. Assuming all else is equal (44khz stereo).

*cringe* It's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Come on, that's pratically a cultural staple. -
The more options, the more fun. Everyone loves options. Level 40 instead of 20 is twice as many times I get to say "neat" to myself and click a few buttons - increasing my characters power. They just need to design some content that makes a challenge for a level whatever, similar to some of the player created mods for bg2. There is some honestly hard s***, and it's a lot of fun. Sure a level 40 bulldozed Abigazail (whatever) but with Gaider's mod, the encounter is still hard. Ditto with improved Acension et al. The bigger the numbers, the bigger the fun. MMorpgs taught us this.

Level caps are for people who dislike leveling. I want this to be the Throne of Bhall equivilent to Kotor. Munchkin me up!

How do you plan to change the inventory, if at all
agris replied to agris's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Ya, we've all got these opinions which is why I'm curious to hear what Obsidian has to say. My dream inventory would be like Fallout's; the bottomless scrolling type (maybe with two columns instead of one, so you can view more without scrolling as much) with the equipped items and mini-stats viewable all from the same screen. Maybe add some <-- and --> arrows at the top of the inventory column which would cycle through the types of items [all, quest, weapons, armour, misc]. All mouse driven, of course. And for the xbox version maybe just spruce up the current kotor inventory? While I don't own a xbox, from what I understand kotor on the xbox handled the rpg inventory as best as it could. The complaints came from PC-users who knew how much better it could be done/interacted with. -
The topic speaks for itself, and I see a lot of devs online right now. So it's been talked about, argued about, and I'm curious to see what the developers think. Also, and this is more a GUI question, but the interface panels (when you looked at your stats, inventory, equip etc) for KOTOR never scaled to your resolution. I.e you'd be playing in 1600x1200 and look at your inventory, and have only a fraction of that resolution to work with because (i assume) the inventory art was never designed past 640x480 specs (TV sets). Thanks for reading! ps hire tom french

I hope Lucas Arts uses Danny Elfman, he's done so much good work. Edward Scissor Hands, Nightmare Before Christmas, and most recently Big Fish. Yes, I know a movie score writer for a videogame is pretty unlikely.

@RiK, Jeff Buckley is very good. You should check out his "Mystery White Boy" live album if you haven't. I like a lot of ambient and experimental, Aphex Twin, Mogwai, Sigur Ros, Supermachiner, Blue Man Group, Godspeed you Black Emperor. There is some rap I enjoy a lot; Aesop Rock, Benefit, Outkast, Afroman, LOA (rip), and of course the Beastie Boys. Old stuff like Zeppelin (How the West was Won is a A+ album), Hendrix, Doors (Soft Parade!). The Beta Band and Neutral Milk Hotel are also two little known bands I really enjoy. I enjoy Radiohead and Pink Floyd a lot. I saw Radiohead in ATL back in October, it was a incredible concert. I listen to some hardcore like Evergreen Terrace, Converge, Everytime I Die, Poison the Well, Walls of Jericho, Dillinger Escape Plan, pg99, Old Man Gloom, As the Sun Sets. That sort of thing. Last, I'm a sucker for Ben Harper and Jack Johnson. edit: how could I forget Brian Eno, Cave-in, and Modest Mouse.

~Di, Ya, I played MW. Powergamed the hell out of it and enjoyed it a lot. There was a modder back in the day named Lady Di, I believe. I just retired from a Time (the end game up to a week ago) guild in EQ, and I can't help but think of games in those terms. While playing Gothic1/2, I would run around leveling much in the way we would PL characters in Everquest. And to derail this thread - was anyone else disapointed that loot didn't seem as "special" in ToEE as it did in BG 1 and 2?
-
Hopefully the admins will look into it more seriously when game info is being released. Like several people said - the idea is to save time. While a game is being developed, many many threads of speculation are made, but usually nothing is gained from it unless a employee jumps in and says something. With the icon you would be able to tell.

On the battle.net *makes the sign of the cross* and Bioware forums, when someone employed by either respective company makes a thread or responds to one in their forums, a "Blizz" gif or big "W" is put next to the thread. Would it be possible to get that function here on the boards? Have maybe a black shard of rock or something. Similar to this There is also the chance that no one would find this usefull, if so ignore me!

I'd like a single player everquest. lots of levels, lots of loot, lots of classes, lots of lots. I'm just greedy.
