I've never seen a Prima guide not be available weeks before it's game launched, and I've never seen a game guide come out after a game did, so I suspect there isn't one this time, which is a shame, as I collect them. I did fire an email to Prima months ago to get a firm answer, but never heard back.

Like an idiot, I didn't save the game before letting Xoti join, and as I picked single-class Monk I can't tell you much about her Priest sub-class. I do know from watching Cohh play she has at least one unique spell she starts with. However, here is what her unique Monk Sub-class does. Copying the link only, rather than inline-image, so those that want to be surprised can. https://i.imgur.com/QU2uv73.jpg Same with this. It's an item she starts with and it's very powerful and may sway how you build her. I know it would have me, had I known. https://i.imgur.com/NxHpXpf.jpg

I disagree. They have followed, in many ways, the Dungeons and Dragons progression system and "power level 9" (not called that in D&D, but the same thing) is the highest you get at level 20 there, as well. You get to it at 17 in D&D, but you still don't get anything else until Epic Levels, which start at 21 and above. Which it well outside the scope of this game. Now, if they add "Epic Levels" to the game in upcoming DLC that would be quite interesting...

I dare them to drop FIVE codes today.

The Great Sword I summoned in that video was indeed very powerful, and will scale with your characters Power Level (so it will be Fine, Exceptional, etc. quality) but like @boeroer said it will probably not compete long term or in all cases with something you can find and especially enchant down the road. Also, don't forget Spiritual Weapon needs to be cast (wasting to some degree an action that could be used for something else) and while it has a decent duration, it isn't long enough for many fights, and takes a precious spell use to summon (in the case of my Cleric, I could have been using Searing Mark for example). In other words, it's just one of many tools at your disposal. Especially if something has low armor vs. Corrode (and most things do).

As a greek person, 50% of my math teachers were named Thanos or Thanassis, my best friend has the female version of the name hahaha it's true, the name is very common. The English equivalent https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipPm_y68iksdKINKG21BiJFvp075dkrocGOdmimj You have that link in a few posts now, but it doesn't go anywhere (404 error). 50% Is this a spoiler? No, it's safe. The joke is Thanos is a super common name in Greek, sort of like the name Fred or Ron in the US is pretty common. So it would be like a huge, thundering Titan striding towards our heroes, and they whisper his name.... "Chad..."

The main problem with DR wasn't that it was hard to figure out, it wast hat it was basically worthless at high levels. -20 from 200 damage attack in exchange for 50% recovery penalty? No thanks. This sounds like it introduces another problem that applies to every character level though. I will say I was taking care to observe how the armor/pen system felt in the stream last week (at character level 18) and it wasn't too far from the beta, in terms of enemies that were resilient to some attacks and players that got hit very hard for being out of position, so we can hope the system stays level/even through the game based on the balance curve they must have used while designing encounters.

Even if you do know.. wouldn't be keep changing armor a tedium? Yeah, definitely. But it is interesting how much of a difference the right armor can make. I imagine on anything less than PotD it will be fine to just wear whatever armor fits your build (and let's not forget the various magical and higher quality armors and equipment we can't factor in) and sometimes you'll be the bug, and sometimes you'll be the windshield.

Equipping better amour that comes with a bigger drawback should always net you better results. What you gain wearing heavy armors is the peace of mind to be covered in the most possible situations. You go lighter armor, you run the risk of getting hit very hard from a crit or just a heavy hitting enemy with a two handed weapon. I agree the penalty for such safety is a bit too high, the recovery time on heavy armor is crazy especially with two handed weapons, so hopefully that gets adjusted at some point. I highly recommend Perception Resistance for anyone wearing heavy armor, as being blinded is just the worst with heavy armor on.

Best video is Holy Slayer highlight, first attempt VS Skulking Terror Laughted hard :D Incoming nerfhammer detected. Don't worry guys! game features % damage reduction that will take care of those big DPH attacks! You might want to look at the comment I just made under yours on my video - there isn't a damage reduction % any more. It's just Armor Value. You are seeing a CRIT (with bonus penetration) hit a very lightly armored target, hence the huge number.

I think light armor is still useful to prevent over penetration. Also, there are ways to get AR from things like Potion of Spirit Shield for those times you're really close to the line, and several front line fighters can learn passives to make armor even better (Barbarians early on can get a +1 to Pierce, Slash, Blunt armor iirc, and Fighters at power level 5 can reduce recovery time, making heavy armor about the same as medium armor but with all the benefits of heavy). The biggest factor, and one we can't know anything about yet, will actually be the enemies we face. Everyone is saying Light is a deadzone and that's maybe true in the beta (maybe not for every fight) but in the full game the penetration values of the enemies you face will be a massive influence on how effective armor "feels". Also, just between two medium armor types (scale and mail) there can be a huge difference depending on what you face. If you are wearing scale armor with low AR vs. Piercing and getting pummeled by Bounding Missiles cast by enemy mages, you're going to crumple fast. If you have Mail armor on though, their damage will be minimal. But you can't know until you face them a few times AND know they are coming.

Based on the observed and documented data mentioned in another thread, do you feel this will cause the vast majority of players to choose those classes even if they didn't want to? Some players will gravitate towards the most powerful builds - these are the players that will actively google "best Pillars 2 build" and just blindly follow a pattern someone else put together. That's totally fine, it's one way to approach a game like this. Some players will load the game up having seen nothing of it except maybe a launch video or two, and will just do what sounds cool. Those players might end up with a terrible combination, like a Cipher (Soul Blade)/Wizard (Enchanter). I think it's better to balance upwards, to help the people in the latter category, and not worry about the power gamers. Power gamers are going to always exist. If you take away one of their toys at the expense of casual players or even just players in the middle of the road, that's bad game design. Especially in a single-player driven game, where no one should care how you play or how you approach a given challenge.

Best video is Holy Slayer highlight, first attempt VS Skulking Terror Laughted hard :D Incoming nerfhammer detected. The problem as Josh described it is if they nerf Backstab to prevent specific edge cases like this, they hurt the Rogue as a whole. So I think some combinations will just remain very, very strong.

I didn't even know about it. It's archived already, but you (maybe) have to subscribe to Geek and Sundry to watch it. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/256786856?collection=Uu7MCEZL_RSxsQ Looks like Josh and Co. show up at the 40 min mark, but I haven't done more than skip ahead until I saw something I recognized (which turned out to be Josh).

I just remembered to test this. If I have Edge open AT ALL PoE2 will crash when I launch it. Looking over the log it mentions something about memory space, I wonder if Edge and PoE2 are trying to use the same resources? If I launch Edge after I have PoE2 running there doesn't seem to be any issues.

This kept happening to me all weekend long, not sure why. Restarting the PC fixed it every time, until the next time it crashed. I keep meaning to test it, but I was using Edge to stream Hulu every time it crashed. Could be nothing, I won't know until I test it (which I keep forgetting to do). Never had a problem until this weekend, maybe it was the new NVidia drivers I had installed?
