  1. Anytime you ask about a GECK in a conversation with someone who actually knows what one is, they tell you it's a bunch of seeds, fertilizer, and a water purifier. And who would that be? I can't seem to remember anyone in the game telling you that's what the thing actually is. I know that's what the Fallout Bible states, for all that's worth, but I'm talking in-game lore.

  3. No, I just assumed that's why you wear it - you can't possibly be any fuglier without it.
  4. errr...the ones i regularly surround myself with? the heck is your problem, buddy? NO YOU CANNOT **** ME (but i guess i'll let you touch it for a few bucks). Imaginary friends don't count. Real people, please. And just so you don't get your hopes up, no. Balding, scrawny kids who grow a beard because they look 12 without one aren't really my type. Go beat your meat.
  5. No, that wasn't a rhetorical question. I actually meant for you to tell how many gamers do you perceive to be regular readers of the authors you cited. Well?
  6. Yeah, yeah. You rock for fighting the good fight and all. Just answer the question.
  7. Yep. It's really cool to be the pseudo-intellectual elitist **** on a games dev forum. I should know, I do it all the time. On the other hand, it could be argued that you're a bit of a loon for demanding that games, the McFood equivalent of intellectual stimulus, are held up against those standards. How many gamers read Sartre on a regular basis? Or ever? You're out of luck.
  8. When everything else fails... lower the difficulty? edit: oh, and do buff your party and don't let them standing idly around the level entrance while you take on several mobs that focus on flanking/backstabbing all by yourself.
  9. In FO2 it's never really explained what the GECK is or how it is supposed to work. But seeing Vault City and how utterly useless Citizens are, I'm leaning more towards the "magical" interpretation in FO2 as well.
  10. Hahaha. Fundies are always great fun. But fundies wrt trivial stuff... that's just too much. At least do it for God or something.
  11. Hm. I do believe I said "end of thread", didn't I? Anyway, it's not like we're talking about a feature that changes gameplay, affects mechanics in any significant way or requires a heavy modification of the engine. It's simply pushing the XP slider at the start. It would require testing, but really... how much testing would it really take to see if a feature that is applied at the very beginning and does not affect the rest of the game at all works? Okay, I exaggerated before. Make that thirty seconds. It's possible that a few problems could arise if there are scripted, reward-only skills or similar, but simply disable those/make the bonus redundant and you're good to go. At any rate, this is irrelevant (and speculative, so I'm going to shut up), as any efforts invested on this are pretty much wasted - cheats can achieve for the player the exact same result. This game does not have a MP component where you can benefit from grinding in SP, so what's the point anyway?
  12. I guess you would know better, seeing as you are in on the biz and all - that could, on the other hand, make your argument suspect, if I were a wee bit cynical (). But even if I didn't want to believe that it's not financially viable for a developer to make a game with a branching ad infinitum plot... why would they want to put in much more work for the same money? Who the hell does that?!
  13. This is a pretty silly thing to discuss. It would take a whole 15 seconds to program the option to have the game start with X skill points instead of zero, based on savegame X. That is about as much time as you would conceivably need to cheat up your character to the same stats, should you want to blow game balance to smithereens. So it's not so much "to cheat or not to cheat", but "to take the featured shortcut to cheat or not". End of thread.
  14. That's SIR Jorian to yu0, n00b - I mean, peasant.
  15. Hehe, yeah. I'll take pre-made faces over "the emperor sports the same hairdo as 3/4 of all peasants you meet"-style customization any day.
  16. Yeah, I hear that to play games, you need this odd device known as a "kom-pyoo-tarr". A piece of paper and a pencil is all you should ever need to game, I tells ya! Consoles get more than their fair share of exclusive titles.
  17. Haha, Sarko is the man. "Chauvinist pig!"
  18. I suppose the very notion of an intimate relationship with some guy that feeds off your life force to keep going and bends your will like he isn't even trying is necessarily "creepy". I don't think Darth Nihilus is the kind of guy that picks you up after work, takes you to the movies, buys you popcorn, etc. He's more like the dark brooding type, y'know? I'm still waiting for Obsidian to get their high school dating sim out the door, anyway. They could even recycle some of the work done for Crucible, such as the atmosphere of uncertainty and dread. And the pouncing animations. RAWR
  19. I can't wait to remilitarize your Rhineland!
  20. Yeah, the campaign in RA3 often felt like a skirmish game, and unless the mission had very specific objectives, the allied AIs performed relatively well. Hopefully they will improve on that formula and allow the player to choose whether they want an annoying co-commander for the mission or not. And the Scrin were not bad as the enemy, but the playable campaign was total balls.
  21. Lol, 40 reps on the bench @ 225 lbs is some pretty heavy ****. I don't think mkreku meant that as a serious rebuttal, though. It is the first (and second, and third...) result you get when you google for "fat football", after all. Chill.
  22. Is that a mod? I dont remember weapon degrdation / breakage in any of the BG's. Due to the iron crisis in BG1, normal weapons have a chance of breaking in combat. There is a mod that gives the enemy a chance to have their weapons break as well. If you never experienced it yourself, you must have simply gotten lucky.
  23. <pic> Dammit, where'd you get that pic?! I've lost a few pounds since then, I swear! proof
  24. Looks ****ing awesome. Never played a MW game before, but I'm keeping an eye on this. Thanks for the heads up man!
