  1. Err... has it? Can you give a few examples so we know what you're referring to specifically, and what standards are you measuring against?
  2. That's assuming that some of the consequences foreseen by our awfully incomplete and poorly understood cosmological theories prove true in the end. Which is about as likely as tossing a coin and getting heads, tails, and nothing at all, simultaneously. Or the Old Ones awakening.
  3. Can you say LAME? Yeah, I think you can. :suckage:
  4. I tell you one thing: if sentient life does exist it had better have more important things to do than fly a bajillion miles here and stick objects up people's behinds. If not then frankly I don't WANT to make contact. I don't know. Aside from the goofy UFO stories, maybe 'flying a bajillion miles' for them is as trivial as taking the car on a trip to the supermarket. And maybe they're observing us as we would observe a colony of ants. I'm not very comfortable with that analogy. I used to boil ants with big kettles of water. For all we know, "aliens" could be n-dimensional beings not more concerned about (or aware of) 3-dimensional affairs than we are about the wonderfully tiny things going on in the universe of quantum chromodynamics. Better not to think about it. Old Ones? Heh...
  5. Co-op. That game just begged to be played co-op. No really, it did. I remember it telling me quite clearly.
  6. Yeah, isn't that one of FO3's worse aspects, though? In the "just out of the vault" scene, I don't even remember if any special sound effects or music are played. And despite having an awesome idea (listening to radio stations), they ended up with a half-assed Black Courier-jukebox hybrid. Funny, because some of the stations you can pick up, and the areas/sidequests they are associated with are very good and contribute a lot to the atmosphere; incidentally, they are also a good example of how you don't need a textbox to set the mood. But the freaking MAIN radio station of the wasteland gets repetitive after about twenty minutes. But man, how can you feel anything BUT love for Qui-Gon Jinn?
  7. And I thought I was hardcore...
  8. On the other hand, the PC is dazzled by the sunlight when they first emerge from the Vault which, with the appropriate sound cues, can convey the significance of the moment just as well. Pretty bloody impossible to miss, too. I also hate being told what my character "feels".
  9. The mid-level content is well balanced and fun to play solo, but if you have a level cap in place, you'll be hitting it pretty soon. And then parts of the endgame can be hairy, especially those involving mages. In BG2, solo FMT/FMCs are so ridiculously overpowered that the only thing one needs to worry about is getting mazed or imprisoned - but then there's the Slayer. I think solo'ing is the most boring way of playing these games, not least because of the increased force-reload factor. But if you've tried everything else... Atrocious. But the really awesome detail about this dungeon is the fact that there's absolutely no good reason to clear it unless you absolutely, positively need every XP point in the game. <3
  10. Stopped reading.
  11. I'd expect DA to be an improvement over BG because devs are supposed to have more experience and be more adept at their trade, but mainly because the technology allows for better games today. Graphics notwithstanding, the core of the game (gameplay) should be better, more complex, more engaging, and with superior AI. The same for quest design. Unfortunately, since BG, and with the exception of the interface and camera-terrible NWN, Bio has chosen to downgrade gameplay for their games, possibly to make them viable for consoles. So, how is gameplay compared to BG?
  12. I think it's Empire: TW.
  13. Because it simplifies things.
  14. I agree. But for some reason I also LOL at the pedantic piracy critics that insist on using terms that make IP violation seem more odious. Value judgements for everyone!
  15. JK plxx With actual swordplay, if possible.

  17. That's true. It's always hairy business to discuss no-CD patches here, for obvious reasons, though. He's probably better off asking on the mod's board anyway - they know their stuff better over there, and guest posting is allowed.
  18. Depends on the gun, from what I know. Once while I was in training, we went through about a week of **** in the wilderness - rain + dust + shooting practice = very, very dirty bolt and carrier group. I actually wasn't aware how full of dirt the thing was until I took it apart... never had it jam on me, not once. Needless to say, I was very impressed. That was with one of the new G36s. On the other hand, you'd be lucky to find an L you could actually finish an exercise with, without getting a jam. I haven't fired a DEagle, but from what I've read, it seems like it's fairly prone to jamming, especially if the shooter isn't experienced and doesn't deal with the kickback well. 9mm guns don't compare in terms of kickback to the magnums, so I wouldn't know, but it doesn't sound too far-fetched. And the conditions in combant aren't exactly the same as what you get in the shooting range, either.
  19. You've probably already thought of this but, why not use a no-CD patch?
  20. Huh. What's this about the "youth"? Is it any more serious with young people than it is with older folk? Wals does bring up a good point, that of standards. I don't know about English, but I know for a fact that, in Spanish, certain errors (eggcorns, malapropisms, metatheses...), and borrowed English expressions which do have a translation are being integrated into the standard, as defined by the academics responsible for establishing said standard. Whether that's a good thing or not, I can't say... but it looks to me like an effort to justify and institutionalize ignorance. What iteration of Walsingham was that? What's the current one?
  21. Only you

can make all this world seem right. Only you

can make the darkness bright. Only you

    and you alone

can thrill me like you do.

  22. Well, they were able to make a very busy Mardi Gras parade for Blood Money, so... why not?
  23. Hitting a man-sized target at 150m is difficult enough with an AR - a handgun is hardly suitable for sniping targets across the battlefield, unless you want to get a bit fantastic about combat. That's exactly the case in AP, so I'm sure the DEagle's tendency to jam can be toned down a bit. On the plus side, a .357 DEagle holds 9 rounds (7 for the .50 AE), versus a meager 5 on the S&W. I'm not a fan of the DEagle, but I don't see it as being a much worse choice in combat than any other disproportionately huge gun. None of that matters however, considering we are going to see stuff like SMG dual wielding. I think any semblance of realistic combat went out the window very early in development, so both weapons are likely to have a place in the game.
  24. Dwarves get that automatically at level 1.
