Soulbound items benefited from any weapon proficiency you had in POE1, even if said proficiency applied to a different weapon type. So, if it's like POE1, any weapon proficiency ought to trigger the bonus.

*** DISAGREEMENT ALERT *** You try to hold aggro in this game ? Like, on the Skulking-Terror laguafeth for example ? Son of a gun keeps moving away or turning away from my MT to engage my rogue, even though there's engagement. Tanks have a terrible time keeping aggro right now. Like, the guy literally about-faces to smash my rogue in the face no questions asked, even though I waited say 10-20 seconds before making my rogue attack. There are no field control skills whatsoever at the current time. Enemy triggers a disengagement attack ? Oh noes, he's gonna get grazed for damage that won't defeat his armor...

s/vengeful/useless/ 'cause let's face it, once you cast this firebug (fck, IF you cast it, interrupts hello !! ) , you still need to hit AND overcome the enemy's resistance. Useless AF.

Eothas ? Whatcha mean Eothas ? The guy gets Touch of Rot and Spreading plague whatever. That ain't sun-themed

In my (limited) POE1 experience with priests, they only started shining during mid-late game, say level 10ish when you got access to Crowns for the Faithful, stuff like that... YMMV

Might be working as intended, might not. My fighter grazed with his Knockdown and some measure of damage was applied, however the prone effect itself was never rolled. I wouldn't think it was intentional, see how people are gonna try to get the ability to graze if only to be able to graze with this or that weapon ability (as in, not a spell, an ability that requires an attack action). This is on the vanilla fighter guy.

[Bug?] Not getting bonus damage from high Armor Penetration?
dam replied to AndreaColombo's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
Hm, something's off here. Not only the calculation is wrong (like, completely wrong) but also Biting Whip should only give +0.2 on top of Soul WHip, not +0.4. Unless he's a soulblade, in which case Biting Whip gives +60% . -

Regarding 18.5 : (Base * 1.93 positive multipliers) * 0.5 graze = 18.9 , give or take some for rounding at some point in the process, poof, here's your 18.5 -
Yeah I still need to submit a bug report (altho it's not a bug per se) about characters looking like fcking ducklings when they wade through sand... As for a toggle, sure, it's the Alt key

The pen issue for spells is a serious problem. It *sucks* waiting six seconds to cast a fireball and seeing a bloom of "No Pen". Yeah, that No Pen explosion isn't the explosion you had in mind when casting the spell. And how on Earth did the baddies avoid any damage? Is even Penetration the right threshold to measure this stuff by? Shouldn't it be Reflexes or something, and then only for half damage? (Hehe, my D&D heritage suddenly took hold of my thinking reins...). To be fair, you've cast your fireball : - it's checked first against the target's reflexes, because maybe dat bitch rolled out of the way like - it also makes sense to check its damage against the target's fire protection, because maybe dat bitch (diff bitch, first bitch got away) has a ring of suck it fire protection. The problem is that DND had tools in place to augment your pen (spell pen, greater spell pen, epic spell pen anyone ?). Obsidian are, in fact, well acquainted with these mechanics because they're the ones who wrote Mask of the Betrayer, so they're the ones who implemented Epic Spell Pen. -
GRAPHICS - stealthed characters turn absolutely invisible
dam replied to dam's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
'kay it's happened again, I'm on the laguafeth broodmother map, and my rogue's stealthed and absolutely invisible : The character is under the mouse cursor. Dream life for a rogue really. Sadly, no clear way to reproduce :'( Edit: kay the mouse cursor isn't shown, my assassin's in the middle of the gibs that used to be a laguafeth before it spontaneously burst into smaller pieces (honest guv). -

That's the thing, there are precious too few ways to increase your pen (or reduce armor) right now. A proper cast requires : - eldritch aim - merciless gaze - expose weakness That used to be the combo you'd cast in POE1 when you really wanted that spell to have an impact. Not to mention by the time it's cast, one of the more mobile enemies (hello shadow step) or a ranged attacker (hello redfin paralytic bolts) have taken care of your spellcaster. -

That's true. When I made my mercenary wizard, she only picked spells that can lower armour and such - so my meta knowledge made me roll a debuff mage, which normally would have been most counter-intuitive. And I do think Penetration becomes so problematic when it is this simple, but big threshold which you need to climb over in a number of combat situs. Since grazes have become a luxury, the AP system needs to accommodate for that and be more forgiving, and in that way give us back grazes in disguise. Weird. In the game's current state, CC and debuff spells seem much more attractive than damage spells. Damage spells are defended by 2 mechanics (defenses to see if it hits, then armor for damage calculation) while CC/debuffs only need to pass one check. -

IDK, first playthrough with a Monk (and leveled companions with preset skills), I had none of these party wipe problems here. I think it's closely tied to party composition. Now onto 2 of your points. Injury system : Needs to be tuned to something greater than 4. Raising the limit to 10 (but still applying stacking debuffs) would be much more reasonable, and let the more hardcore, stubborn players carry on without resting every area transition, even with 6 debuffs. Penetration : To be fair, I don't mind the current Pen mechanic , means your tank's gonna be god damned tanky as well... perhaps... eventually. -
SKILL - CIPHER - biting + draining whip
dam replied to dam's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
Well seeing as : 1/ they're mutually exclusive (as shown on single class chars, for example) 2/ only one of these appears in the Active Effects pane Surely that is not intentional -
You can also pause it with Liberating Exhortation (pally).

Unless I am mistaken, an interrupt only resets their cast time, as opposed to wasting the spell ? No, interrupts now cause the spell to be used. So, if your Priest is interrupted while casting Circle of Protection and you only have one cast per encounter of third level spells... now you have no more third level spells. As long as enemies have the same limits on casting as you and your party (which I believe they do based on my limited testing) you can effectively shut an enemy caster down. Crossbows are incredibly good in Deadfire because of their modal. Definitely a weapon to consider in any ranged/interrupt build. Thanks for the clarification. Makes the Spell Steal... spell (duh) all the more powerful, if you can get it off. Unlimited casts, interrupt this Sure, you don't know what spells you're going to get, but you do know you're gonna be able to spam them so, #worth

Why would that cost a talent? That should cost money to hire someone to make the helmet. Seeing how money is never a problem in mid-late game, that would make the whole mechanic sort of moot, in my opinion.

Same problem here with the Skulking-Terror's slurping/attack sound. Unless I'm mistaken and that's RoF, which I cast during the fight. If that's the case, wow, that's one odd sound effect.

Yeah, working in the industry and having to maintain, among others, redmine/jira trackers, I totally understand why theirs isn't open. Can't exploit vulnerabilities or exfil information from a tool the public doesn't have access to

So, here I was, going to dem Foothills to kill me some fish right ? Dem fishes, good fishes be dead fishes am I right or am I right ? So here I am like, I see dem hunt dem boars, like, they killed boars right ? So I stealthily stealth to stealth nearby and take them by surprise (right ?). (and I succeeded at that scripted encounter, so I was able to enter the area un-noticed, and stealthed (right ? )) So, after crashi quitting and restarting the game (unrelated), I load my autosave in dem Foothills... right ? What the wat was my surprise, now when the autosave loads, I'm not stealthed, and I'm instantly greeted by chief-echo-watnot ... not right ! For some reason, the game totally forgot I'd aced that Stealth interaction and entered the map : - at a different location - stealthed bro, I was like, ninja stealthed (right ?) ^^

UI/area - Skulking-Terror attack sounds follow me
dam posted a question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
'kay that's a wierd one... After a party wipe, I F8'd (and the game never loaded a quicksave, possibly because the only quicksave I had was on the world map, not in the area map). Anyway, I loaded up the area autosave, fought the Skulking-Terror laguafeth again. Now, from time to time, I can hear its slurping-attack-whatever sound. It plays during pause, it plays on the load savegame screen, it plays after loading the autosave of another area.- 2 replies

'kay I have no idea wherever this one comes from : For information, my party was wiped out and I F8'd to quickload (except, the game never quickloaded...), then manually loaded an autosave. It might be that this is an artifact from my previous attempt, like it was a KO party member but the game decided it should be displayed in the newly loaded file ? Since it's not obvious what area we're talking about, this is the one with the skulking terror laguafeth.

As per below : The mini-portrait shows I have 15 focus, while hovering with the mouse shows 9, and my 15 focus spell says I'm not quite there yet if I wanna cast. Specifics : - assassin/soulblade multi-class with biting whip
