  1. A Corpse-Eater Rekke is perfectly in line with his character. I mean, he had to survive on that flotsam somehow, right?
  2. nope. it used to, but that was a bug that got fixed, or so they say. it seems odd that this bug is still around. seems to me you could potentially soft-lock or otherwise completely break down important quests by preventing specific item drops from occurring. (edit - crit path doesn't have any important drops, at least, and bounties give you the heads directly into your inventory instead of as loot.)
  3. I would personally not recommend ironman unless you can mod in autosaving. Deadfire is way more stable than PoE1 but still not stable enough. In PoE1 I lost a few runs from soft-locks and hard crashes, and I would still prefer doing ironman in PoE1 than in Deadfire because of the presence of autosaves that I can backup easily. (In fact, I may never do ironman in Deadfire for precisely this reason, even though I could count on one hand the number of crashes I've had in 600+ hours of playing. All you need is one to ruin your day.) Also as asnjas recommends, if you have to ask about possible instadeath moments, perhaps you're not ready for an ironman run (especially since you haven't seen the entire game yet. at least see what the crit path is like. sentiments about the game difficulty can be obsolete due to a lot of rebalancing that has occured. Back in 1.0, Ashen Maw/Ukaizo was a cakewalk even at level 14. Now, Ashen Maw requires a little bit more skill and can spiral out of control, especially on Berath's--you could end up pulling an entire section of the map. Depending on what faction you side with, you can end up with a brutal high-level fight just doing that as well. And even at level 20, Ukaizo fight can be a challenge if you're used to just brute-forcing your way through a fight and/or aren't used to the multi-part encounters that become more common in SSS or FS. Though I guess actually you can trivially skip this fight if you don't care about the role-playing consequences to do so.) i think every time you talk to rymrgand you can be instakilled, both in VTC and in BoW. I seem to remember having to reload because I sassed off a bit too much. there's also a few encounters on the world map and one in a dungeon that can result in insteadeath if you don't have the right stats. Sevearl encounters (especially in SSS) are generous with giving you injuries, which can be death if you have too many. Not so many of these just on the critical path though.
  4. Seriously I think you need to work on your reading comprehension. No one is assuming OP of having mental health or life issues. Boeroer said something that had one meaning (which he explicitly clarified), and the only other follow up was speculation on what boeroer was saying (which was corrected when boeroer clarified it and only brought back up when you chose to quote it out of thread context). I think I'm good and done here.
  5. I don't understand why you're trying to go on a war path here. Also, actual quote from xzar_monty in that thread: "It makes no sense whatsoever, but I've decided to let it lie." That doesn't sound like taking unreasonable offense, but having issues with something that's messed up but making peace with it. Let's not distort what people are saying to fit your own aggrieved narrative. If you read the entire topic you will see how he does not let it lie, but instead keeps pushing it. And it's not the first time, but pretty frequently actually. I have no narrative except to stop the Deadfire mob. Literally unplayable. the only person who has been so thoroughly hostile is you. xzar_monty even agreed with OP on the basic point (literally "The OP definitely has a point"), and boeroer (whom you've also been picking at this thread) didn't say anything unreasonable and even extra-clarified his sentiment to you. whatever, maybe this is just an off day because the only person i'm seeing in this thread coming out fists-swinging is you. I remember how friggin controversial it was when blizzard made their Paladin in D2 black, and when in warcraft night elves (*cough* their version of drow *cough*) were morally good instead of morally evil. It's weird how oddly unwilling-to-change the fantasy genre audience can sometimes be.

  7. is this PotD with upscaling? Because I would just come back at a higher level (I don't start SSS until 18 or 19 on PotD+upscaling+challenges). I don't have upscaling on at the moment (I've turned it on and off a few times) and I'll happily do this content with it off. I was just really excited to get Survivor's Tusks for my main character. But those guys outleveling me are a problem (and the game tells me I have it hardest because I consumed him in PoE - I didn't really understand the significance of that choice when I did it lol). Their nukes just blow my team up. Here's a question: do I have to go through even more difficult fights to get the Survivor's Tusks? Because then it really wouldn't make sense to suffer through this just to hit a thicker wall before getting what I want. yeah, you need to clear the first three (four?) challenges on the survivor's path. Frankly, even at level 18-19 the survivors challenges can be brutal, if you don't have a party set up for it (sustain healing becomes a lot more important than burst damage, for example) they can be a real grind to clear. if you have FS, even if you end up waiting to level 18 or 19, there's still decent amoutn of content (even within SSS) to enjoy with survivor's tusks.
  8. they said they're collecting feedback until feb. i would expect only a small bug fix at the most until march, essentially.
  9. You should definitely try it again with the ship mod removed/disabled. One should not expect developers to be eager to investigate issues that almost certainly sounds like an interaction with something third-party. It may be that the ship mod itself needs a bug fix for a more recent version of the game.
  10. If you've just been kind of skating through the rest of the game, SSS might be a bit of a shock to you. Most of the fights in SSS have some sort of technical dimension to them. Yes, you can try to brute force your way through them with the same ol' strategy (though you'll patently fail in some of the seeker fights), but it's better as e.g. Jayd suggests, to try to pay attention to the situations of each fight and see what you can do to exploit it. is this PotD with upscaling? Because I would just come back at a higher level (I don't start SSS until 18 or 19 on PotD+upscaling+challenges).
  11. yes, but don't you see??? I read some fantasy novel one time that featured a very specific type of mage, and I must now re-create that in every RPG system that I come across, and if I can't it sucks!!! That's why Planescape: Torment is literally the worst thing ever made. WHO EVER INVESTS IN WISDOM!?!?!? edit: Poe's Law dictates that I have to label this post as sarcasm
  12. OP is talking about being aumaua. It's always so interesting, in a genre that is predicated on the fantastic and limited only by one's imagination, that some people (OP included) are really stuck in a particular mindset of how a game must be and that vision is generally based on a very tolkien-esque rendition of AD&D. Kind of antithetical to the genre's point. Also, it's honestly a little fantasy-racist to presume that a tall, giant-type species can't do well at magic. *tongue in cheek* Even the barely-comprehensible Eotens can cast decent magic.
  13. Maybe you should double-check your observation. A terrified enemy cannot be engaged (engagement cancels as soon as the affliction hits) - so you will not get Disengagment Attacks once they flee. This got patchetd out during beta phase once Unbroken/Trickster builds popped up which showed how easy it was to proc lots of devastating Disengagement Attacks on terrified/fleeing enemies. Nice in theory, but doesn't work in practice. It also means that casting Repulsive Visage as a tank is only advised if you are in trouble - otherwise you'll break all engagements. And that can mean that once the affliction ends the enemies will chose a different target. It also means that if you build around engagement buffing you (Reckless Brigandine, Mob Stance, Champion's Helm, Kapana Taga, Entonia Signet Ring) you'll immediately lose all those buffs. I mean if this wasn't patched again...? you're both right. it's very inconsistent. in my experience, it's not 100%, but definitely people aren't dropping engagement they way they used to patches ago under hard CC, which is good for tanks, but those aren't translating 1:1 into disengagement attacks.
  14. Drop the other three and keep Nalpazca Monk and Herald Pellagina. Use pellagina for summoning ancient weapons as well as the chanter phrase that summons skeletons. I've tried this with a troubadour subclass so I don't know if this will work with normal chanters but I think it should. The summons should keep Dorudugan busy. Make sure to spread out the ancient weapons so when Dorudugan does the meteor shower thing, one of them should survive. Make sure pellagina has exalted endurance (hp regen per 3) and any other hp regen items as well as having enough burn armour (only meteors will hit her as the summons will do the tanking while she stays near Dorudugan NOT attacking him). I recommend horn of auroch helmet so he can't pull you either. For the Nalpazca Monk, get frostseeker. Normally I would recommend kitchen stove but that has too low range when you don't have a proper tank and you only rely on summons for tanking. With frostseeker excess range, you should be able to reposition if Dorudugan kills all the summons and starts coming towards you. Stack all +accuracy items and have the captain's belt so Dorudugan can't pull you. Also make sure you have Revku Cape (turns all fire damage to healing) so you don't die fcrom Dorudugan meteor attacks. To proc it you can have Pellagina force attack your Nalpazca Monk and kill your Nalpazca Monk to gain an injury before the fight. Equip the grog pet so that in the unlikely scenario Dorudugan reaches or use his pull power thing your Nalpazca Monk or Pellagina can just run away. This fight should take you 15-20 minutes as you only need to have 550 stacks of resonant touch to denotate Dorudugan. So do stack alot of drugs in your monk invnetory. But that should not be a problem as a drug lasts for around 250-300 seconds. There you go, easy peasy. I can confirm that 550 stacks is not enough to kill him on POTD with level scaling. I have gotten him to near death, but no closer. This fight is the worst part of this game. So tedious. In fact, 700 stacks was too few. WHY!? i think on PotD you need ~800 stacks. wiki says it has like 6100 health but even if accurate PotD upscaling I think will add a significant percentage to that.
  15. if it doesn't have a duration, it can't be cleansed, which is the advantage of resting bonuses for e.g. spell reflect. also, if it says it's reflected, it seems pretty clear that that's what's happening. it's possible that arcane cleanse from the obelisk is a targeted effect, whereas arcane cleanse from the wizard spell is the aoe effect. the chain lightning and tayn's chaotic orb from the obelisks aren't true chain lightnings or chaotic orbs, either.
  16. Literally unplayable We joke, but 4.0 & 4.1 broke a lot of things that either were never problems before or were previously diagnosed and fixed. That's quite frustrating as a player. (I've paused my current playthrough until some of the bigger issues get addressed.) Feels like they pushed out a major DLC and the turn-based update with too small a team on the back-end. Hopefully future patches that aren't associated with major content changes will be "cleaner." It feels particularly frustrating because all these 4.0/4.1 big bugs (broken summons especially) seem to have no connection to any other feature or bug fix, so it's not exactly confidence-inspiring that to me, it seems like completely unrelated, random parts of the game are breaking. summons/vela scaling especially has the potential to just ruin someone's playthrough and there was apparently no QA that caught it, or engineering process to prevent such a random breakage.
  17. For fool-proof interrupt protection, get Hands of Light on a paladin, which grants Courageous (completely immune to interruptions, still grants a Concentration after 6s). Doesn't priest's Crowns for the Faithful (lvl 8?) make you immune to interrupts ("cannot be interrupted")? I've been using it on my BDD builds.... you must have some sort of zany mod, because crowns for the faithful should only be giving you tier 1 inspirations, you're getting tier 3 per/resolve inspirations and a tier 2 intellect inspiration, which is stupidly OP (not to mention how insanely long it's lasting)
  18. lololol i didn't even think about the wael + abydon interaction annoyance. just be grateful you didn't combine rymrgand and woedica
  19. It's actually quite frustrating and alarming that these kinds of regressions are still happening. At this point, with all due respect, I fear that any final bug fix patch will still break something big about the gameplay and leave the game in some newly broken state in perpetuity.
  20. This was reported in the patch beta forums, but reposting here for visibility. Basically, if you rest at sea, any beneficial effects you have aren't cleared. This lets you stack multiple beneficial effects together. I just noticed it myself, and it's lame because it undermines the challenge I was setting myself up for. See attached picture: Mirke has two different resting bonuses (Roe and Mari Crudia). Everyone still has Sigil of Pain and Darkness, which I had used before rest, but still have. 21. The pillar is not the problem, it's more or less the one, that gets activated the least. My current build dumped resolve to 4, so i am missing around 20 will anyway, so i can get around 17x with all temp boons etc. The spell reflect potion is too important in that fight. If the pillars would fall rather easy, it wouldn't be such a problem. And second, as i mentioned, the items dont work, so i need high will to prevent terrified and stunned, both target will. have you tried stocking up on potions of the focused mind and quaffing them before she reveals the terrorizing obelisk? you'd need a lot because they'd get cleansed away eventually. have you tried dropping big spells like frozen pillar or bringing along hand of wael and woe? you can drop aoe spells just as soon as you see auranic targeting an obelisk so the obelisks start taking damage as soon as they are revealed. hand of weal and woe does a lot of damage and can heal party members, and if a tick gets reflected back at you it ends up healing you i think. it really shouldn't be that hard to take down the non-dps obelisks real fast if needed. all else fails hire a chanter with the one dozen chant on loop. Nope, i play with a SC Helwalker Monk and the other three megabosses were not much of a problem, only that mage. And i want to do it solo :S then craft some potions and craft some scrolls edit - you being solo would explain why you would have difficulty taking down the obelisks quickly. with a full party of 5 that's a lot of chain lightnings or tayn's orbs that get bounced back to the obelisks.

  23. i've literally never seen arcane cleanse "miss". if you're talking about the obelisk of cleansing's cleansing effect, i don't think it's an arcane cleanse, but something custom, which may do some sort of roll, or it might have a range that you can run out of it.
  24. i haven't been able to verify, but it might not be the ability that change, but how it scaled. when i was scratching my head trying to figure out why my streetfighter was having a harder time i seem to remember looking at the tooltip and noticing the AoE duration for sparkcrackers wasn't scaling up anymore, whereas Rokowa's was up to 1.8s from whatever. Again, memory being what it is I could be misremembering, but that was my current operating theory. it could be that at the default 1s aoe duration, the aoe expires before the periodic effect can pulse again.
  25. You're right. I was going off of memories of stuff near and around release, which was vague about it. She is always five suns as a playable character.
