Paul Kariya is a world class diver. I mean, I love the guy, but he really has made it an art form. Of course, when you are a small guy against a 6'4'' brute, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Sharks move on! Now if Edmonton and Calgary wrap up their series, we'll get a nice Alberta battle, and the Sharks can chew on the Av's for a bit.
  3. That's just great casting by the way. I already hear his voice when I think of Beast.
  4. It was pretty funny, but who the heck decided to give Colbert 30 minutes at a White House dinner? Honestly they could have cut him off after about 7 minutes, he definitely lost steam.
  5. I really cringe every time I see the term action/RPG, but the concept is pretty cool. Might be a fun buy.
  6. Uh, I agree with Volourn on everything but the Dragon Age comment. Seriously, I've heard no official word about Dragon Age in a couple years. There's been plenty of speculation, but I can't remember the last screenshot or concept art. I'm not saying that's bad, I figure the game will come out when it's ready and I will buy it happily.
  7. I agree that Resident Evil is way more Action than Horror. Except the dogs...that was a bit gross. The sequel was a complete action film too, there was really no attempt at horror (except the school bit.) Silent Hill sounds a bit more like an artsy horror film. It's funny, but it sounds like gamers who have played both these titles hate the movies, but people with a cursory knowledge of the game are way more accepting.

I've never said he's not trying to score points. I'm telling you that there is way more to playing good hockey than putting up points.

Hmm, I'm really not anti-Jagr at all. I think it's awesome what he has done in New York this year. I'm not going to shed tears when he takes the MVP, but of course I'd be whining more if Thornton didn't already wrap up the scoring title. I also have never downplayed the skills of Cheechoo and Marleau. They are excellent players. Cheechoo had 28 goals in 2004, and that was when the league was much tougher to score in. But hockey is a team sport, and these guys are benefitting from the puck handling class that Thornton is putting on. He's wearing out Nashville, causing them to take penalties, and controlling the flow of the game. Trust me, I've played hockey for a long while. When a line goes out and dominates, it makes the game easier for every other line. I don't know how many times I've seen a line control play and create chances, and then watch the next line put the puck in the net relatively easily.

For Volourn: Now I'm not saying you don't know hockey, but seriously, every news source is saying the same thing. The coaches, the players, and the media all seem to agree that Joe Thornton is dominating the games, despite not getting on the score sheet. Do you really think he's failing?
  11. Wow, that's pretty fantastic. At first I was a bit iffy, but it's actually fully supported by Microsoft. Too bad I traded in all my games to pay for Oblivion.
  12. I'm a huge fan of the Resident Evil movies. I actually like them better than the games. I'm not quite sure why people complain about them.
  13. Too much infrastructure. The US has enough problems managing the current 50 states.
  14. I'm actually more excited about this E3 than I have been in awhile. Mass Effect looks very cool, and Blizzard should be announcing the second new playable race for the WoW expansion. Plus, maybe we'll see some actual 360 games instead of just showing off the console.

I'm sure Volourn will argue this, but Thornton was just awesome last night. He didn't put up any points, but he absolutely dominated the play. Seriously, Nashville couldn't get the puck from him, and he drew 4 penalties. He's also wearing out the top D line, allowing Marleau's line to clean up. Marleau deserves credit for putting the puck in the net, in fact he was the best player in the previous two games, but it helps that he can fly under the radar. Hockey is about momentum. If a line goes out and dominates the play, even if they don't score, it's a huge lift. It allows the next line to go out and carry that momentum forward. Putting up points is not the only measure of a player's greatness.
  17. Again, SP2 was a pain when it was first released, but it's been over a year now. The bugs are pretty well worked out, and honestly the home network stuff is just a million times better than SP1. I'd still cross my fingers when you install it though ;-)
  18. Huh, I was so curious about this I was actually going to install the game. But, surprise, you need a CD Key that was inconviently placed on a jewel CD case. What a pain, I've got the CD and the packaging, but I have no clue where the jewel case is. Ah well.
  19. ALFA is a tricky one, because if you don't get a decent server with a decent DM crew and a decent group of players, there is no reason to play. I got lucky in that I started with a group right off and we built our characters up together. We also had an excellent DM team, which has since departed ALFA altogether. They also had what I consider the best server design. I still think it's an awesome project, but I agree that they need to worry less about making a huge world and more about filling it.
  20. 1. Most open Persistent World servers for NWN are going to be pretty lax. If you want to see a good one, you will probably have to join a closed server. The reason is, a good server doesn't want every Tom, ****, and Jane to hop on and run around like naked idiots. They put time and effort into the world, so they want respectful players. 2. Persistent Worlds on NWN and MMO's are still very different. Persistent worlds still have a pretty small cap on how many players can join up. You also shouldn't expect stability, as they are servers run by average joes. The trade off here is the DM's will actually help you and don't have 1,000 tickets to answer. 3. Good Persistent Worlds have a pretty rigid rule set. The best one I played on was ALFA, and they had a ton of rules, but they also had almost 0 ganking and griefing. It was the closest thing to a PnP experience I've seen, right down to perma-death and extremely slow levelling. They created hundreds of miles of Faerun for people to explore.

I've played with a dislocated thumb, which was easy, and a fractured thumb. The dislocation wasn't really all that bad. The fracture happened when a shot connected with the top of my thumb. It forced the nail about 90% off and made the finger turn blue. The nail was the only real hassle, and I just taped it down. I would have just removed the whole thing, but that extra 10% is actually really painful. Eventually the new nail grew in and pushed the old one out. I also bruised my middle finger severely once, but it didn't matter either. Both of these injuries happened to my left hand, so as a left handed shot, I only need my left hand for stability. My right hand holds the butt end of the stick, so an injury to that hand would likely be more serious. So which hand is it? And which finger?
  22. SP2 is way more stable then it was when it first came out. I'd give it a try now that they've worked all the bugs out. It really is a good improvement over SP1. I also would like to hear what game syou can't play, since I haven't had any problems with JA2 and even Xcom.

I seriously have no clue who the Sabres are. Chris Drury is the only name I even recognize from seasons past. They are a serious surprise this year.
  24. I just finished the Indigo Prophecy. It was pretty awesome, and just the right length for me. I definitely see the complaints about the last part of the game, but I didn't think it was too bad. Still, more detective stuff would have been cool.

I'm not too surprised by Carolina and Dallas looking at a fast exit. Carolina is weak on defense and experience. They also haven't had to battle much lately, whereas Montreal has been playing for their lives the last month. Dallas is a shootout team. Without the shootout they would have less than 100 points. They would have been fighting for a playoff spot. Still, I'm shocked how badly Turco is playing. Colorado isn't much better, in fact I'd say the only difference between the two teams is the goaltending. They match up pretty evenly.
