I watched Jersey Girl recently. I don't really count it as part of the Kevin Smith portfolio. You left Dogma off your list, which I consider to be the top one. I hardly consider Kevin Smith a hollywood hack. The guy is a comic book geek who worked his tail off to get his movies out. Even if you don't like them, I find it hard to see your point of view. Anyways, I just watched most of the original Clerks again, and I'm willing to see it. It did teach me the term "snowball".

Volologic strikes again. Seriously though, Edmonton is a lot different than St. Louis in climate and culture. But they have a great hockey tradition, so I think they will have no problem attracting other players. I'm just surprised that Pronger would be so willing to run from Edmonton when he's really played his best hockey there. Clearly his wife wears the pants. Blaming Edmonton is silly. Each city has unique aspects, and they won't always mix well with certain players. New York has it's own problems. Theo Fleury and Sandis Ozolinsh are prime examples of players who couldn't handle the big apple.

Wow. Welcome to the Chris Pronger Hate club, by the way.

LA is like 6 hours away, so I wouldn't recommend that drive.

I wasn't saying the Luongo can't be a top goaltender, I just think he needs to play for a competitive team to really judge his skills. Particularly, can he make the big saves in the close games? In Florida, his job really was just to give the Panthers a chance. He was seeing a ton of shots. Although with Vancouver trading all the D-men, maybe Luongo will see a similiar shot count.
-
Isn't there also an alternate cover with Thorton as well? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thornton is on the NHL 2k7 game. Different games.
-
That seems like a good trade for both sides. Bertuzzi should do well in Florida without the glare of the media, and I like Alex Auld as well. It's probably a better deal for Vancouver, but Florida didn't have the ability to keep Luongo and at least they got a top player for him. I'm still not sold on Luongo being the best goalie in the league, either. With Vancouver, he should get the chance to prove it by winning games.

Both of those are more central Cali than Northern. Northern Cali is usually referred to as the Coastal region between Monterey and Napa. Although technically I guess it ends at Oregon, with Chico being the last major city (and that's debatable.)

I live in the heart of Northern California, so I can give a few tips. 1. Visit San Francisco for a day. It's actually a pretty small little city, and you can walk the entire downtown area if you are in decent shape. Visit Pier 39, but not on a weekend. The place is crowded. Get a tour of Alcatraz. Walk the Golden Gate. Take a ferry somewhere. Go to "The Stinking Rose" for dinner. This is an excellent restaurant that specializes in garlic dishes. It's easier than visiting Gilroy. 2. You said you are in the low part of Northern California. Do you have a town name? If you are near Hearst Castle, that's an excellent place to visit. 3. Carmel and Monterey are a bit further north, but they are excellent places to visit as well. There are some great Coastal redwoods in Big Basin as well. Just driving up and down Highway 1 is a pretty great experience...if you don't get car sick. I've spent a lot of time exploring the area, as my wife and I don't have money for long distance vacations. If you are more clear about your expectations, timeline, and location, I can throw out some more info. It's a lovely part of the world.

Hmm, you know, the Sharks are looking for someone to complete the Thornton-Cheechoo line. Ron Wilson came out and made it pretty clear that Nils Ekman is losing his spot. I would LOVE to see Havlat take that spot.
-
That would be shocking to say the least. He really has reached to top of his game in this last year, to be honest, so I don't know what reasons he would have for changing that. It will be interesting to see if this is BS or not.

Maybe it is me, but after the book I found it to be not so good. Effects were awesome though. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have not read the book (books?) but I am now interested in them. Is the English translation good? I remember how long it took to get a decent translation of "Master and Margarita" by Bulgakov.

I have no clue who this person is. Luckily, no one knows who I am either. Good times.

I found Night Watch at Blockbuster today. I was pleasantly surprised. I knew just a small bit about the backstory, but it was enough to help me through the film. I was very happy with the English voicework, as dubbing can usually be brutal for foriegn films. It was a good story and it set the stage well for the sequel. It also got me a bit more excited about picking up the game.

Watching his brother win the Cup will probably help Jordan Staal's stock. I'm watching the NHL awards show. It's painful. They should have made the Mad TV guy the MC. Hockey players need public speaking course. I like the whole humble thing, but it wouldn't kill them to crack a joke. Daryl Sutter was the most entertaining so far. Edit: Thornton takes the MVP! Sweet!

Wow. I actually mean WoW. That's an insane market share that Blizzard has. Even if that's inflated...yikes. -
BREAKING NEWS: EA ACQUIRES MYTHIC ENTERTAINMENT

I'm a bit surprised at the lack of EQ1 and 2 subscribers...uh...where did you get these charts? -
I enjoyed the demo. I just love the combat engine for all these Nival games. I plan on picking it up this summer, although I'll probably have to order it given the difficulty I had finding Hammer and Sickle. Based on the demo, it was also clear that Nightwatch is much more polished than Hammer and Sickle.

BREAKING NEWS: EA ACQUIRES MYTHIC ENTERTAINMENT
Hurlshort replied to Llyranor's topic in Computer and Console
I'm not sure, EA has been forced to change recently because they were clearly going stagnant. There is a chance that they will allow Mythic to develop the game they want to, and just provide the funding. It would seem like common sense, given the fact that DAoC managed to compete with much bigger competitors. Still, it's more likely this is the end of Mythic. But I'll hold on to a bit of hope. -
Gamestop has always been a console focused company, so I'm not all that shocked by their lack of PC merch. I am, however, upset to see my local EB's slowly turned into console spewing machines when they used to have lovely tended gardens of PC delights. Management does tend to be important in these establishments. When you have an actual gamer behind the counter, you can expect certain titles to magically appear that would normally stay hidden in the back (such as Silent Storm.) Lately though, the manager I have bought from for many years has struggled to get even a single copy of the more obscure titles. He has recommended I order online. Waiting for a game in the mail is like waking up on Christmas and being given a UPS slip. It makes me cry INSIDE.

Great season everyone! Didn't we have a Hurricanes fan on the boards? I'm bummed the Oil didn't take it. In fact, the West really needs to come through in the playoffs here. It's the deeper conference, but it seems like a while since the West won the cup. So Saturday is the draft? I'm hoping the Sharks add someone like Jovanaski on defense. I'm not sure which goaltender will be moving though, but I figure Nabakov and Nils Ekman are up on the trading block. They've gotta be able to pull in a more experienced defenseman with those two. I also expect some grit to be added. Edmonton beat them solely on grit.

Chitty-chitty Bang Bang? Anyways, it's a new release with Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer.
-
I just watched "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" and was pleasantly surprised. It was an excellent detective comedy. The director's style was unique and entertaining.

I actually looked up the deep cleaning thing, and I guess it's pretty common, particularly for some who neglected to get a regular cleaning for 5 years.
