  1. The reverse side of this argument is that there still racists, white supremists, and neo nazi's out there. Now the majority of people aren't in that camp, but I think many people need a reminder that if you just live your life and ignore that hate exists, people get into some pretty messed up situations. You can look at Hitler as an example of this. People didn't want to believe he was all that bad. The world had just finished a terrible war, and Hitler seemed to be rebuilding Germany, Berlin was even considered one of the greatest cities in the world. No one wanted to interfere. So if a Jewish person want to throw out a reminder that "Hey, we went through some messed up sh*&" then I say let them. It may seem like they are drudging up the past, but it is a way of reminding us that hatred and bigotry is a part of human nature and it needs to be constantly checked.
  2. I've played almost every MMO since The Sierra Network had that odd little dungeon crawler in their online world, and WoW is a perfect example of why Blizzard is top-notch. First off, attention to detail, as many have already said. Secondly, when I played the Open Beta for WoW, the game was utterly complete. It was stable, it had a huge amount of quests, it had polish...it was more developed than most MMO's are after their first year. They tested it insanely. Most companies would have released WoW 2 years before Blizzard actually did.
  3. Happy B-Day! I'm drunk, you dhould be too.
  4. First of all: I'm drunk Second of all: Blizzard is succesful because they pay attention to details.
  5. I remember it being Mid-August, but it could be later due to the 360 version.
  6. The technology for fluid moving robots is getting there. Unfortunately it's moving slowly, as the practicality of robots isn't too clear. We use robotics on assembly lines and such, but what is the real use of a robot that moves like a human? Other than world domination, of course.
  7. It would be more impressive if it didn't look like a cool breeze could knock it over. I'd say the guns were the most impressive bit, I didn't expect them to work. Edit: If you notice on the same link, there are some impressive Sony dancing robots.
  8. Speaking of Aragorn, I just watched "A History of Violence" and was delightfully surprised. It was a great movie, perhaps in my top 10.
  9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6Y1lYVNerM...related&search= Proof that Jimmy Fallon would have been a better choice than Hayden Christensen.
  10. I just watch "Silverado" which was another good western.
  11. KotOR was clearly cashing in on the Star Wars name, but that doesn't make it less stellar. edit: BG1 to BG2 is barely growth. It's a direct sequel cashing in on the success of the previous title. When a series is dead in the water, as M&M was, it's a risk to take it on in any aspect.
  12. So in that line of thinking, Hades, we would never see Star Wars games or books because that name is reserved solely for movies. Might and Magic is just a fantasy world. Sure, it started off as a certain type of game, but it was expanded with Heroes of Might and Magic and now it's growing further with Dark Messiah (We won't talk about Crusaders.) It's a universe that developers are using to set their game in. Sure, it's not developed as thoroughly as D&D or Star Wars, but it's still an already created universe. Growth is the key here. Might and Magic was dead. So was Fallout. These new games aren't interfering with the old style of games.
  13. I just liked seeing the ending, since I never managed to actually finish Oblivion. Actually, it was pretty anticlimactic for a game I spent so much time on.
  14. The GM goals were broken in NHL 2005. As were many other things. I couldn't change goalies when not at home, it would only let me change my opponents goalie. How does that slip by the testers? They never even patched that, to my knowledge.
  15. Uh, World of Xeen was top notch. The others don't really touch that epic. Still, I'm excited about this game on a different level. I don't consider it an RPG in the same vein.
  16. It looks like you really just need more RAM to dramatically improve performance, although those cases make it hard to upgrade. Edit: You can buy a cheap external hard drive as well.
  17. It's impossible to do a speed run without having intricate knowledge of the game. It's just a fun little thing to do, it doesn't mean the game is flawed.
  18. I was watching Highlander 3 on TV today, and I started thinking about the fact that there was supposed to be a 4th movie released many years back. I always thought Adrian Paul and the TV series were superior to the movies, although the first was decent, but I don't remember ever seeing the 4th (Endgame) out in theatres. Anyways, I did an IMDB search and it turns out it was released way back in 2000. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0144964/#comment I'm guessing it went straight to video, but now I'm curious to rent it. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0299981/ interesting...

    NHL

I don't think signing Hasek is that bad. He's not being paid a ton. But they need a prospect or a young goalie who can step in if he gets hurt.
  20. The HDMI is pretty important. If you are willing to spend $500-600 on a console, you probably can swing that for a HDTV. I got my 32 inch widescreen HDTV for $500.
  21. NHL 07 looks interesting, as the puck is supposed to be much more independant than previous years. They've always treated the puck like it's a magnet that sticks to the blade of whoever is closest. Still, I don't know what that will do to gameplay. NCAA 07 (football) is really stripped down. The gameplay is good, but all the neat franchise options and the good drafting stuff is left out. It's bare bones, someone compared it to NCAA 98 and that's pretty accurate. However, Madden 07 is supposed to have in the Superstar mode and some neat new Franchise stuff. I'm excited to focus solely on the WR position.
  22. I have all his books.
  23. I felt like Birds was too much of a product of it
  24. I rented NCAA 07 for the 360 and I'm glad I did. They really stripped it of the great franchise features. It's bare bones. I plan on buying Madden, and I hope it's way better. Still, gotta get my draft classes ready.
  25. Yeah, I'm not a big fan of my work being called fanfic, but maybe there was just a concern about the forum being overloaded with short story threads. I'm guessing one thread woyuld have caused less concern, although it's pretty intimidating to try and read a thread with a bunch of short stories in it. It's easier to take them one at a time.
