Briere was great last season, but he also was limited due to injury. He's a little guy and will have trouble taking the punishment that top line centers have to endure. He's also, according to what I've read since I've rarely seen him, not a defensively responsible forward. That's a big knock in my eyes. Looking at Scott Gomez, he's defense first and still managed to put up points.

I played it. It was very much a standard shooter. The cut scenes were decent and the western stuff was cool, but it was pretty repetitive. I'd say it's worth $20, but I felt ripped off paying full price. Keep in mind that I dislike shooters in general, I just picked up Darkwatch for the western motiff.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=172126&hubname=nhl I don't get how Briere is worth that much. He's good, but I wouldn't even say he's a top line center. It seems like the arbitration hearings are going the wrong way. On the other hand, I would say that Scott Gomez is worth 5 million. I guess we'll see.

I remember my first time running through an alliance fortress and being amazed how well they captured the look of the RTS games. But I don't get the comparison, they are two very different styles of game. Using an RTS to break an MMORPG addiction doesn't seem like it will work.

I stole them from communists, so it's ok. Some might say I liberated them. It was very American.

http://9.yahoo.com/ Check out number seven, the insane shark jump. It's hard to believe. The host is also unbelievably hot. They aren't real, but that doesn't stop them from being perfect. edit: I watched a few more and changed my opinion, they are real.

It's 112 degrees in Gilroy, CA right now, and my air conditioner is broken. It's not totally broken, it will tease me with cold air for a few minutes before shutting off. It actually seems to work fine when the weather is in the 80's, but once it hits 100 degrees, it decides it is working too hard and shuts down. Anyways, my house is 92 degrees. The worst part is last night never cooled off. It was 110 degrees yesterday and there was little drop off in the evening. http://weather.garlic.com/ So...I'm going a bit nutty in the heat, but what's the weather like where y'all are?

I once bought a set of wooden blocks for real cheap. They NEVER broke! This means that I am right and everyone else is left.

I watched an action flick called "Running Scared" with Paul Walker. I didn't expect much at all, I was just in the mood for some action. It had a few decent parts, nothing groundbreaking

I like Bethesda. They seem to be earnestly trying to create good RPG's. They also have made business decisions that have helped RPG's in general. Bioware and them are really the only RPG heavyweights left (Obsidian still has work to do.) But for some reason Morrowind and Oblivion do not compel me to play. Sure, they are exciting for a few hours, and they are entertaining to a certain extent throughout, but something feels lacking. The main storyline does not draw me in. I lose my focus after a bit of play, it becomes almost a chore. Does anyone else get this feeling? I never got this feeling during the Fallout's, KotOR, or even Jade Empire. Even huge BG2 never made me feel listless. The biggest trouble is I don't know how to fix this without destroying the open endedness of the games. Does anyone else go through this?

He's a director, he likely has more than one girlfriend. Even bad directors get at least two wannabe starlets.

The hanso Foundation stuff comes from the Hanso website. They were showing Hanso commercials during the Lost episodes and if you followed the link, you got a bunch of corporate info. I have no clue what the relevance is though.

I have "The Movies" and the sim part is not hard to learn at all. It's a mix of Roller coaster Tycoon and The Sims. I played it all day once but I haven't picked it up since. The actual making of movies is a bit harder, at least if you want to have them make sense, but I didn't play it enough to be an expert.

That's a perfect quote. That seems to be arguing style of many on these boards. God forbid we actually respect other people's voice and opinions. Also Darque, I was attempting humor by pointing out that the more I pay for something, the more problems I have with it. Houses, cars, major appliances, wedding rings I apologize for not amusing you.

Bukowski, Dick, Chekhov, Kafka, Vonnegut, Greene, Hemingway, Twain, Joyce, Beckett, Hesse. I'm missing a few dead Russians, sure. Well, my reaction was a bit impetous, I admit. Although I consider some of those writers novelists, and not strictly short story writers. Poe was one of the earliest modern short story writers though, along with Maupassant. If we are looking strictly at American's, I'd still say he is at the top of the list. It's all opinion anyways, I'm not debating it because they are all great. Bulgakov and Doestevsky for Russians.
-
Have you ever owned a car or a house? The more you pay, the MORE likely it is that something will go wrong with it.

What an odd advertisement.

Lame. He's probably the greatest short story writer EVER! Ray Bradbury is 2nd, but he has to die before he can become really famous.

I'm really interested in your opinion of Night Watch. It's been getting crucified by reviewers and I'm still a bit wary after Hammer & Sickle. I liked the demo, though.

I'm confused how Bungie turned into a 3 dollar ho. They actually returned to their roots with Halo. Marathon was their first big game, and Halo is fairly reminiscent of that. Is it somehow a problem that they became succesful? Without Halo, we still wouldn't see another Myth game.

I just don't get the whole attitude over the heating problems. You have a 95% chance that the system will run fine. If it does break down, like Bok's did, then you get a new one for free. Sure it eats up a bit of time, but honestly it's Microsoft that should be whining. 5% of 5 million times $300-$400 is...uh...a lot of money. Hmm...I'd be surprised if anyone followed my train of thought on that. Oh well. Viva La France!

I was initially agreeing with 10k fists, but his anger seems to be taking over his reason. The 360 beating every other console in its first year is more about market growth than the specific console. The gaming industry is a growth industry, so comparing anything to previous launches isn't that effective, unless it bombs. The 360 hasn't bombed, it's done quite well. It's also pointless to argue over the line up, as every console ever released has had the same line up issues. You can't please all the people with a single title. Darque, your heat concern was addressed earlier. It was a defect in about 5% of the systems, which is a pretty low number but it's inflated by the drama of teh internet. It also should be treated like a high powered machine and not stuck into a cramped cubby with no ventilation. Speaking of overheating, my PS2 used to just lock up after over 6 hours of playing. I remember simply waiting for it to cool down before playing again, I never even thought about returning it. But I don't play 6 hours straight very often either.

I was playing a rather epic game of JA2 ver. 1.13, but now I have some odd bug that won't allow Skyrider to land anywhere. I also was toying with the idea of allowing a few mercs to get captured so I could stage a good prison break, but I'm having a few crash to desktops every time I try the prison area. It's a bit frustrating, but I'm still amazed at how entertaining this 7 year old game still is. The weapon variety is seriously sick though. I've got the oddest assortment of firepower.

You can also buy 4 PS2's for the price of 1 Xbox360. That means the PS2 needs to outsell the 360 4 to 1 to stay even, although the PS2 doesn't need to compete per se, it's already exceeded expectations. I think you need to compare more than just 360 vs. PS2 to get an accurate representation. Did the PS2 immediately outsell the PS1 when it was released? But I'm just glad to see the competition is staying hot. That's typically good news for gamers in general. Also, I owned a PS2 shortly after its release, and the game selection sucked as well. That's the story of pretty much every console. I think the 360 has already done better than the original, they've got established franchises and I was pleased with Oblivion and Hitman.

Hurlshort replied to metadigital's topic in Computer and Console
I've always wanted to attend PAX, but it's the same week that school starts up. Just another reason to want to go and not be able to. Thanks Meta...bastard.
