  1. Your synopsis is correct, but I enjoyed the storyline and characters enough that the combat and gameplay weren't a big deal.
  2. I loaded up Oblivion, since I just finished Arcanum and won the World Series in MLB 09. It's a nice little game, but every NPC makes me want to punch them in the face. I haven't played it since Fallout 3, and I have to say, Bethesda made a huge amount of progress on their NPC's. It is just a completely different level of quality.
  3. Hmm, I still think this Blizzard title is way off, WoW was in production for about 8 years before it released, I believe. I'd say KotOR Online is still going to be a couple years before a new Blizzard title. In other MMO news, the books by George RR Martin have just been licensed to a French developer. A Game of Thrones could make some pretty compelling source material, but I'm hesitant to trust any unknown developers. They are the same team making the next Blood Bowl game, so I guess that will show us what they've got.
  4. Hit a two-run shot in the playoffs on MLB 09, but then the power went off and wiped out my game!
  5. You could like, pretend you didn't notice. I've had to make my case to parents about History Channel movies, so I try to avoid any non-curriculum controversy.
  6. Woohoo. I'll be happy with more of the same, to be honest. This stuff is like a summer action movie for me, just pure fun.

I went 1 for 3 in the last round, but I did nail the amount of games for my one winner. This is my worst performance in years though. Detroit over Chicago in 5 - duh Carolina over Pittsburgh in 7 - Should be another tough one, but Carolina was my one win last series, so I'll stick with them. I think Detroit will roll through for another cup at this point. I'm rooting for the Blackhawks though, it would be awesome if that young team brought the Cup to Chicago.
  8. I just noticed the new Night at the Museum is PG-13. School of Rock was also PG-13. What the heck is wrong with the ratings board? This totally messes up my ability to show movies in the classroom!

I was happy with the end. I actually thought this was the best season for answering questions, it seems like the first time they've answered more questions then they created. I'm pumped for the finale. The special effects for the magnetic pull incident were a bit silly. It looked very B movie-ish for awhile. I still dug it though. When did Jack become a badass marksman?

This is such a weird league. How do the Red Wings do it year after year, when it seems like a total crapshoot for all the others?
  11. Well then, I suppose I suggest that they have at least one Bachelor party quest. It is Vegas, after all.
  12. I think we need some actual information before this thread will really be of any use. When do we get a preview?
  13. I like the idea of long lasting consequences. Very few games have pulled that off. I'm hoping they move out of Vegas a bit and cover areas like the Hoover Dam and the Red Rock areas. I think we need a separate thread just for whining, by the way.
  14. Completed Arcanum for the first time, it was a decent ending. I did a lot of side quest stuff, but apparently I totally screwed over Cumbria.

It was a bummer of a game 7 for Washington, sure, but they have a young team and they can hopefully take the experience this year and come back even better next year. I don't think they have any reason to be embarrassed, getting to game 7 against a team that went to the finals last year is a solid achievement.
  16. I took four AP tests, European and US history, Government, and Economics. I did miserable on the Gov and Econ ones, but I knew it pretty early on in the year, as the teacher was terrible and I had zero interest in economics. I passed Euro and US History, and it transferred into 12 units at my university, which was a huge help when graduating. It basically got me out of college a semester early. Those two AP classes that I actually passed are what prepared me for college though, the writing skills alone made most college level essays a breeze.

What if you don't smoke? Army of Darkness is my choice.
  18. It is starting to sound like you got beat up by a girl. You have my condolences.
  19. Agreed. This is a huge obstacle. Video games are pretty much stuck in an adolescent stage. They need to grow up a bit.
  20. Maybe his ctrl and caps lock buttonsa re broken? We used to have another poster with a broken keyboard, he was always getting extra letters in every word he typed. It was funny, you could actually read his posts pretty easily once you recognized the pattern of the broken keys.
  21. I've never felt Gromnir was worth ignoring. I find his posts hard to read on most occasions, but he is only active in a few threads that he is passionate about, and they are all about specific games rather than the general threads where the rest of the community gets to know one another. Which is exactly the same thing we can say about Twinkie.
  22. I think the strong lore refers to the unique setting, races, species, architecture, and environment. My first sandstorm was very memorable. Oblivion was much more of a standard fantasy setting, and a lot of people found that much less engaging.
  23. I call my students all sorts of odd things. It's the only way I can really remember who they are, by butchering the name is some way. I used to call a student Jesus. He always got perfect scores and was extremely patient with the other students. He also vaguely looked like a painting of Jesus we looked at during a Renaissance unit. He's in High School now and the nickname has apparently stuck. There is a very likely chance that I will be the first target if we have a school shooting though.
  24. Please stop arguing about realism in video games. It IS childish. It's a video game.
