  1. Exactly. I actually chronicled my last big RV trip with pictures in two places, here and Facebook. I got more responses from the folks here than my friends and family!
  2. Uh, you moderate a gaming forum. No offense, I'm right here next to you wasting time online, but it just seemed a bit hypocritical.
  3. Woohoo! Congratulations, remember to take a few pictures.
  4. But they gave it a happy ending! I mean, sure it was competent and fairly good for what it was. But hollywood changed it to a happy ending! I didn't see the original, didn't it have Michael Cain in it? I'm sure that would have colored it for me. It wasn't really much of a happy ending. After Statham's big truck blows up, he walks a little way and gets in a bigger truck. Is that really happily ever after?
  5. I wonder what the expectation is for Square Enix? I'm guessing it is around the million units mark, maybe 1.5 million.
  6. Dark Allaince 2 has a much richer feature list and more replay oriented gameplay though. Multiple difficulty levels ... with unlockables and stuff. Drizzt was playable as an unlockable rewards for instance. DS3 pales in comparison to Dark Alliance 2. Geez, Dark Alliance 1 and 2 were even worse than Dungeon Siege 1 and 2. As for Drizzt Maybe DS3 should have had an unlockable Jason Statham character.
  7. Wow, I'm surprised Alice is doing so well. That seems like good news, anytime a bizarre twisted version of a fairy tale does well, I consider it good for the industry.
  8. The Mechanic - Jason Statham being Statham. It was solid enough, quite different than I expected.
  9. The problem is everyone is already on Facebook. You are basically asking us to leave a huge house party and go hang at Google's crib, which is empty. Sure, the Google house is probably better, but all our friends are at the Facebook shack. But hey, Google was super late to the email game, and they've turned gmail into a major player, so give it some time I guess.
  10. However the resources were not used wisely, should that cost then be pushed on to the purchaser? All it does is give the company a terrible reputation of 'wait for bargain bin, if that' for each new game they develop. So from a business perspective it is not reasonable. Maybe if this was the last game for the developer to ever make it would be okay from a business perspective to have an inflated price to begin with to see how many people buy it... but they need to create/maintain a reputation otherwise it will simply destroy chances of future products being a success. Uh, were you a project manager on DS3? I'm not sure how you can speak with much authority on use of resources. There is no concensus that this is a bargain bin title. That is your opinion. Reviews have been mixed, as has the reception of users here. As for maintaining a reputation, if the publisher paid AAA money and got what they considered a bargain bin product, and had to lower the price point to get it out the door, that would be a gigantic blow to Obsidian's reputation. That obviously isn't the case, Square Enix and Obsidian clearly have confidence in the product. Sales seem to be supporting that confidence so far, although it is really to early to tell.
  11. So no matter how good or bad it is or how much the playing experience represents value for money (or not as the case may be) the amount of money it cost to make it justifies the price tag? Have I missed something or is it Clown Night on the Obsidian forums? Quality has very little to do with pricing, that's a fairly subjective criteria. It was not developed to be sold as a low budget piece of software. The market has set the price point at $60 for a new release. Do movie theaters change ticket prices based on the quality of the movie?
  12. The product costs millions to make, so it is pretty hard to argue that $50 or $60 is too much for it. You can talk about opinions and it being worth your personal money, but from a business perspective the price point is very reasonable.
  13. Which is excellent news, as WoW was already a very good game. Statements like this, they're the moments that I realise I am amongst rats. Which, when you understand WoW's basic psychological principle, makes total sense. *tap a button get some crack* Good business plan, but...*sigh* Sophistication is... Well its a waste on such people. You work on video games, get over yourself.
  14. True Grit - The newer one. It was fantastic. Just about everything a western should be. My wife didn't like Matt Damon as a Texas Ranger though, but I thought he was good. It could have had more Josh Brolin.
  15. I imagine that may not be SFW for some people because of the audio. But haven't listened to it myself, yet. So, FYI guys. That's funny, I just got that book from another friend with young kids. It really is a perfect embodiment of the frustration I deal with every night trying to get my daughter to go to bed.
  16. Bad Teacher - Probably more entertaining because I went with a few teachers. Justin Timberlake was great, as was the guy from Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
  17. Can't see her winning the overall popular vote against Obama. Something crazy will have to happen for her to get that far, these types of candidates have trouble sustaining the campaign. They more flash than substance.
  18. What a waste of time and money. This thing got killed at every level of the courts.
  19. I don't see why I would need a union to defend my rights. aren't there courts to decide who's right and who's wrong? you don't like how you're being trated, you just have to point out what laws your employer is breaking, right? Courts don't decide right and wrong, they decide what is legal. While the government will protect you from flagrant offenses, they aren't going to get involved in every minor issue. They only need to make sure you get a minimum liveable wage and aren't discriminated against. For example, teacher's unions, while far from perfect, are extremely necessary. Education is not an industry that has clear profit and gains. An inexperienced young teacher makes considerably less than a veteran teacher. School districts have no real reason to pay veteran teachers, they don't necessarily bring in more money to the school. So a Union is the only protection that they have. Unions tend to be born out of necessity, so if the video game industry continues down this path, I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen.
  20. Krezack was joking. Wals is correct.

I see the future! Brent Burns should be a good fit for the Sharks, it gives them some size and production from a guy not named Boyle. I would have liked a little more of a defensively sound guy, but I'm guessing he will be paired with Vlasic to cover that need. Anyways, it gives them a solid top four defenseman group, which they have lacked for a couple seasons. It is tough to lose Setoguchi, but the Sharks had seven guys trying to fit into the top two forward lines last season, so it makes sense that they move someone. Hopefully he does well in Minnesota.
  22. Of course we do, you won't remember it anyways.
  23. Don't forget Mrkreku, who literally has a mail order bride. That makes four. I think we should all pitch in to send one to Walsingham.

I'm pretty worried about Richards in LA, that makes them a more dangerous team. I'm wondering if the Sharks can pull a trade for Robyn Regehr. They want a center for him, but I'm not sure if the Sharks are willing to give up their plethora of them.
  25. I disagree with that. Some games are designed around an extended playing time. DS3 is primarily a campaign game, you play through a story. Sure, you can play from all 4 characters and you can mix it up with co-op, but it isn't going to warrant the hours that an online shooter like Team Fortress 2 or an open world modder's dream like Oblivion. Which is great by me, I love a good story.
