  1. You do realize you undermine any legitimate points you might be making by resorting to childish name calling? It is very possible to be critical of the President's policies without disrespecting the office itself.
  2. I'm guessing it is all the security costs that got the tours axed, as those are probably significant. That's the same problem with the President going on vacation, he foots the bill for his own stuff, but not the security detail or Air Force One. So getting up in arms over vacations = Good and reasonable Getting up in arms over white house tours being cancelled = silly The White House belongs to the citizens as much as a military base belongs to the citizens. You aren't entitled to a tour of either one.
  3. Yeah, I can't help but feeling it is tied in with the healthcare system as well. I'd suggest we have a program that finds jobs for disabled people that they can physically do, but that might smack of socialism. I have some family that is on disability, and I don't get it. I'm not that close to them, but they seem perfectly capable of doing a non-labor intensive job. But instead they get paid to stay home. It's not a good system. Now I do think welfare programs should exist, but they need an overhaul.
  4. Yes, I was saying it requires Steam to play. Gorth was concerned that it required more, like how Ubisoft titles launch from Steam and then make you sign into Uplay. At least that was the impression I got.
  5. what a cynical view. Here's one example : http://news.investors.com/business/042012-608418-ssdi-disability-rolls-skyrocket-under-obama.htm?p=full Another would be families living for generations on the government dole, there are also constant reports of massive fraud in the foodstamp program. May be you don't see that so much in the Netherlands. That's a large amount, tell me, has getting disabilities become easier in recent times, or is this rise purely from people who can't get unemployment welfare anymore because their six months are up? (IE fix one and you may fix the other) It's been on the rise since the 90's. It's a very messed up system.
  6. Hmm... saw Sleeping Dogs (digital edition) on sale for $10 on GG yesterday. Thought about buying it, but I couldn't work out if the DRM meant you needed an extra account somewhere for activation besides Steam activation. In the end, decided it wasn't worth the hassle trying to figure it out If I remember correctly, it launches off Steam independently and doesn't have any other DRM.
  7. Uh...Scooby Doo has a ton of different versions. There is actually a channel on my kid's lineup that plays it all day long, and the newer stuff is pretty weird.
  8. This may be a touch over reactionary. I agree with you on the vacations though. Obviously the President should be allowed to take a time out here and there, it is an incredibly demanding job. But the cost to taxpayers should be minimized as much as possible.
  9. Redoing it 4 times might be considered trouble for some people.
  10. I'm not up to date on hardware details right now (I usually just educate myself when I need a new rig) but I will say that my current Alienware desktop is the best computer I have ever owned. I can't speak highly enough about the quality of that brand.
  11. Chavez was no saint, but comparing him to Mao or Stalin is ludicrous.
  12. That sounds like a completely different movie. Do you feel most arcade games were difficult back in the day? The fictional game reminded me of a mix between Rampage and Donkey Kong, which I never thought were exceptionally hard games. Plus if the hero was the central character of the film, we wouldn't get those great villain therapy groups.
  13. I picked up "Wreck it Ralph" last night, and saved $7 on it using a coupon from Scott tissue and Disney Movie Rewards. This might be my favorite movie of the last year, it's just an awesome homage to arcades. Plus it really captured both of my kid's imagination. My two year old rarely sits still for an entire movie, but he was having a blast watching it last night.
  14. Since Adam Sandler is now considered one of the most overpaid actors in Hollywood, I would say that you are a bad investor. Also, you seem to have the notion that star power is the same now as it was back in the 90's. Those dynamics seem to have changed. Source? Forbes has him on their overpaid list, but then states he is worth $6.50 for every dollar you spend on him. That's a solid return. That being said, Sandler is safer investment as a full production company rather than hiring as a lead actor. Also where are you getting the idea that star power has diminished? You mentioned the Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter film earlier, but the Lincoln with Daniel Day Lewis relied completely on the actor and succeeded tremendously. Action stars are not as marketable as they used to be, I'll give you that. I think it is because there are just too many of them, and none have really separated from the pack. But you can't replace a Brad Pitt with just anybody, that guy sells tickets.
  15. MLB The Show 13! There are some changes which I'm struggling to adjust to, mostly camera angle stuff. So far I'm off to a good start in AA ball, but I've only played two games.
  16. Chavez was a very complex character, but this is definitely a difficult loss for Venezuela. My biggest concern is did he create a system that can last, or will it fall into corruption? Chavez put the interests of his people first, but will the next leader do that? I hope so.
  17. They do not look like that in the cartoon! They went for the really cartoony in that one, this looks like they're aiming for 'realism'! You sure those aren't for the new movie? This is what I mean: I don't think it looks good, although not as bad as that game one.
  18. Raithe, maybe there is a word that would work better than anger? It sounds a bit harsh. Everything else is great, very witty.
  19. Actually the new TMNT cartoon that is on is to blame, they are using some ugly CGI. They work better as actual cartoons, or even the rubber costumes form the movies!
  20. A great actor can get on screen and hold an audience's attention with nothing more than his presence. Watch Glengarry Glen Ross for a perfect example of that, the whole movie is shot on a couple of stages with no special effects, it is just actors giving great performances. The subject matter isn't even interesting, but the actors are. Special effects are cool, but they don't make a film great. The Star Wars prequels had fantastic SFX, but that didn't help them.
  21. He's got to make up for the last few months!
  22. Alright, I'll play Honest Hearts! Geez, you guys are a tough crowd.
  23. After deductions, I'm paying around 10% for Federal taxes. My state taxes are more of a hassle though.
  24. Also, it is an MMO, so the pacing is totally different from the KotOR's. Still, there are some great stories mixed in there, so I hope you enjoy it.
  25. My healthcare insurance is a private company, but I don't think they give a damn about my healthcare or quality of life either.
