I did a tour at a Budweiser plant today and they talked about prohibition for awhile. So even though the skull and crossbones might seem silly or downright intrusive, it could be a heck of a lot worse!

Given that there is evidence that suggests the used games market actually supports the new games market, I doubt MS/Sony will come out against it in this generation.

We are kind of reaching the point of diminishing returns too. Crysis still looks fantastic today, that's why Crysis 3 doesn't look that much better.

It is why Crysis 3 looks no better than Crysis 1 (which is a 6 year old game now) because they wanted to make sure they can port it to 360 and PS3 easily. When devs forget about PS3 and 360 and start focusing on PS4 and 720, the standard goes up for PC as well, and we will leave this 7 year limbo that saw no substantial visual improvements in games since 2006 Thank goodness for that, my PC is 5 years old and can still run everything that comes out today pretty well. In the past that would not be the case.

Ok, so my RV trip didn't quite go as well as expected. We hit about 2,000 feet and encountered a heck of a snow storm. We pulled off and bought chains, we only had about 20 miles to go to reach our park. We put on the chains, but on the freeway one of them snapped off. I pulled over on the shoulder, but from there I got stuck and started sliding towards the guard rail whenever I accelerated. We called the highway patrol and my insurance company, and they said it was going to take 4 hours to get to us because of all the accidents on the roads from the storm. We were not in a good spot, someone could slide and hit us easily, so we were not happy. Thankfully a tow truck came by after about 30 minutes and pulled us out of the snow. We were able to get off the freeway and wait out the storm. Rather than pushing on, we headed back down the hill to a nearby park and now we are resting comfortably. Phew!

That might be where the failure of Colonial Marines benefits us, as it would drive the price down of the material. But unfortunately I think the Aliens property is still too massive to go cheap enough to make it worth it for Obsidian.

The nice thing would be if they could release the property and resources and let Obsidian finish it independently. Sega is probably focused on the new consoles and isn't going to put resources into an older project which still needs considerable work. Plus I'm sure the lousy reviews aren't endearing them to the franchise anyways. Obsidian, on the other hand, could probably crowdfund enough to get it finished and out the door on the PC.

Heading out in the RV today for a couple days near the snow. I'm a bit nervous, I've never taken the RV to the snow, but we are only supposed to get about half a foot so it should be fine.

Played a game of FTL, and my crew suffocated to death while trying to fix the O2 system. Lovely.

So I'm a big fan of their comics, but I watched the cartoons, and they just didn't do it for me. Some stuff just doesn't need to cross over.

It's kind of a Navy tribute film, so if you like the Navy then it is definitely worth a watch.

Battleship - More fun than I expected. It was silly, but the cast seemed to be having a good time, and there was some cool ship stuff. I went in expecting little and that's what I got, just a fun action flick.

Awesome GD. I'm heading to Vegas in a few weeks for a hockey tournament, and I'm super excited.

That's a shame, I enjoyed the 4th Die Hard movie and thought it was a decent addition to the franchise. The whole kids angle seemed like a perfect way to go, given that the original Die Hards were pretty much focused on this guy who was having marital problems.

Nothing weird about that, the great thing about GoG is that they make sure that these games will run smoothly on most modern systems. Disc copies of older games often take a bit more work to get running.

Oh Jack Black's in it ? Feh, forget it then. I'm not sure who you could imagine would be better for the role than the lead guy of Tenacious D.

Brutal Legend is an awesome idea for a game, it features Jack Black and uses music better than pretty much every other game ever. It's actually a bit of a lackluster game in terms of gameplay, but I was able to forgive that because it simply dripped with metal rocksauce.

I always thought it was weird that Semin didn't do better, he was extremely talented in international play. edit: Just checked his stats, he did have some pretty great seasons. I guess it was just tough under the shadow of Ovechkin. Still, hopefully he will thrive in a new environment.

Alpha Protocol was an innovation of choice and consequence. Sadly it didn't have the impact where that will ripple out to other developers.

You are using a pretty broad brush to tar the entire LAPD, it's not very reasonable. The LAPD is gigantic. You could argue that it simply doesn't work as an effective law enforcement agency in its current form, and I would probably agree with you. But a den of evil? That's just hyperbole. Cops are people, and there are good cops and there are bad cops. Dorner was clearly the latter, because good cops don't go around trying to kill people.

I pledged At The Gates, that's a great time period for me and it looks like it will be a nice Civ style game.
