  1. Yeah, I don't remember much of anything storywise in UO. I imagine there will be a bit more structure in this game. They spoke about the graphics being in pre pre alpha, so that really shouldn't be too big of a concern. It will still look dated, but this seems decent to me:
  2. Actually given the work done already and the fairly low budget for an MMO, the odds are Richard Garriot has already put in quite a bit of his own money.
  3. Obama was the only one promising to help give gay couples the freedom to marry, so not all 62 million + were agreeing to give up freedom. In fact nothing Romney said made me feel like I was going to gain freedom.
  4. I know compromise has taken on a negative tone in politics, but I just think this political divide is self-destructive. There is too much toxicity in the way these politicians are dealing with each other. More time is wasted trying to tear each other down than actually fixing problems. The sequester is a great example of that, instead of going through and eliminating bureaucratic redundancies to trim the budget by 85 billion, which is very possible, the two parties spent the whole time grandstanding about big ticket items. These people are all serving the same country when they are in office, they should be able to find a common ground. Treating each other like enemies is ridiculous.
  5. The graphics look fine considering the stage the game is in. The overland map looks perfect, and the running around parts are serviceable and will probably get a lot of polish before release. That being said, it isn't going to close to cutting edge, but that is pretty typical for MMO's. This is clearly aimed at being the spiritual successor to Ultima Online, which for some bizarre reason never recieved a sequel despite being one of the original blockbuster MMO's.
  6. Holy moly, the game looks phenomenal.
  7. He was behind Tabula Rasa, which was actually a pretty awesome game. It never found an audience, unfortunately, but it did many things extremely well. The game sounds like it will have a lot of the stuff that separated Ultima Online from the rest of the MMO's, which is exciting. I'm concerned about how they will pull it off for a million bucks, but I'm willing to kick in some money on this project. That tour of his castle sounds pretty awesome, but I'm not sure if it is worth $10,000. :D
  8. I'm a bit kickstarted out right now, so I will probably pass on this. Plus I agree with a few of the sentiments about InXile, I'm not sold on them being a great developer.
  9. At this point I just vote for the person that says they are willing to compromise and work with others, since that seems to be utterly lacking in politics right now.
  10. I was pretty shocked by that, I hope Romo got blowing saves out of his system This is definitely an odd event, I'm not sure what to make of the whole WBC.
  11. You seem to be a bit wrapped up in labels. There are actually only a couple liberals on these forums, and probably more conservatives. I am more of a moderate. The reason alan offered you that advice is because Rush Limbaugh, who is an entertaining listen, is a shock jock. His entire persona is about ratings, he wouldn't be popular as mild mannered and reasonable. He isn't actually a journalist, and that is fine, because there are plenty of toxic windbags doing the same thing on the liberal side of the radio dial. So really take what he says with a grain of salt, because at the end of the day he is not an impartial source of information.
  12. Is it really your intention to mimic a subversive leftist group? Do you listen to a lot of Rush Limbaugh?
  13. You do realize you undermine any legitimate points you might be making by resorting to childish name calling? It is very possible to be critical of the President's policies without disrespecting the office itself.
  14. I'm guessing it is all the security costs that got the tours axed, as those are probably significant. That's the same problem with the President going on vacation, he foots the bill for his own stuff, but not the security detail or Air Force One. So getting up in arms over vacations = Good and reasonable Getting up in arms over white house tours being cancelled = silly The White House belongs to the citizens as much as a military base belongs to the citizens. You aren't entitled to a tour of either one.
  15. Yeah, I can't help but feeling it is tied in with the healthcare system as well. I'd suggest we have a program that finds jobs for disabled people that they can physically do, but that might smack of socialism. I have some family that is on disability, and I don't get it. I'm not that close to them, but they seem perfectly capable of doing a non-labor intensive job. But instead they get paid to stay home. It's not a good system. Now I do think welfare programs should exist, but they need an overhaul.
  16. Yes, I was saying it requires Steam to play. Gorth was concerned that it required more, like how Ubisoft titles launch from Steam and then make you sign into Uplay. At least that was the impression I got.
  17. what a cynical view. Here's one example : http://news.investors.com/business/042012-608418-ssdi-disability-rolls-skyrocket-under-obama.htm?p=full Another would be families living for generations on the government dole, there are also constant reports of massive fraud in the foodstamp program. May be you don't see that so much in the Netherlands. That's a large amount, tell me, has getting disabilities become easier in recent times, or is this rise purely from people who can't get unemployment welfare anymore because their six months are up? (IE fix one and you may fix the other) It's been on the rise since the 90's. It's a very messed up system.
  18. Hmm... saw Sleeping Dogs (digital edition) on sale for $10 on GG yesterday. Thought about buying it, but I couldn't work out if the DRM meant you needed an extra account somewhere for activation besides Steam activation. In the end, decided it wasn't worth the hassle trying to figure it out If I remember correctly, it launches off Steam independently and doesn't have any other DRM.
  19. Uh...Scooby Doo has a ton of different versions. There is actually a channel on my kid's lineup that plays it all day long, and the newer stuff is pretty weird.
  20. This may be a touch over reactionary. I agree with you on the vacations though. Obviously the President should be allowed to take a time out here and there, it is an incredibly demanding job. But the cost to taxpayers should be minimized as much as possible.
  21. Redoing it 4 times might be considered trouble for some people.
  22. I'm not up to date on hardware details right now (I usually just educate myself when I need a new rig) but I will say that my current Alienware desktop is the best computer I have ever owned. I can't speak highly enough about the quality of that brand.
  23. Chavez was no saint, but comparing him to Mao or Stalin is ludicrous.
  24. That sounds like a completely different movie. Do you feel most arcade games were difficult back in the day? The fictional game reminded me of a mix between Rampage and Donkey Kong, which I never thought were exceptionally hard games. Plus if the hero was the central character of the film, we wouldn't get those great villain therapy groups.
  25. I picked up "Wreck it Ralph" last night, and saved $7 on it using a coupon from Scott tissue and Disney Movie Rewards. This might be my favorite movie of the last year, it's just an awesome homage to arcades. Plus it really captured both of my kid's imagination. My two year old rarely sits still for an entire movie, but he was having a blast watching it last night.
