Random video game news... RNG says "Nope"

Huh, The Sims is back. -
I'm pretty sure you can turn the lights off. There is an app for it.

So, I'm a bit embarrassed, but I wimped out on building it and bought a Skytech prebuilt rig. Sorry. I kept trying to price out a build and always went over my budget, and I was worried about the OS situation. It did arrive on time and was nice and shiny under the Xmas tree. https://www.newegg.com/p/3D5-000Z-000S1?Item=9SIA08CJJ14070&utm_medium=email&utm_source=transactional&cm_mmc=TEMC-Shipping-Tracking-Notification-USA&utm_campaign=TEMC-Shipping-Tracking-Notification-USA It was $600, which was hard to beat.

Wait, you buy console exclusive games and then throw them in the trash? That's pretty weird. -

Traditionally Peter Pan had no schlong, as he was usually played by a woman. -

My first Peter Pan experience was in the theatre, which sounds fancy. It was fantastic watching the actors fly around the stage. I was pretty young, but I still remember it fondly. -
I've started a new game of Kingdom Come. I played it when it came out originally and enjoyed it, but now I have the DLC. I just finished Theresa's story, and boy is she a more interesting character than Henry. It's actually a bit hard to go back to playing Henry the Dolt after Theresa and her very well done prologue. By the end of her short story, she was a master locksmith, she saved a bunch of people, she had first aid skills, and took down a bunch of Cumans with her sharpshooting skills. Oh and she had a wonderful dog. I mean, Henry is fine, but he doesn't really match up. edit: doh, meant to put this in a different thread. I have no screenshots for you people.

He's no Mary Martin, of course. -

I'm not sure what looks dreadful about it. Granted it lacks the campiness of Hook, but it looks like a pretty standard Peter Pan flick. -
The last couple weeks I've been trying to get into a regular routine at the pool, and today I started to see decent gains in my swim times. I always feel good after the workout, but getting up at 4:30, getting to the pool at 5, and swimming for 45 minutes is not the easiest schedule to keep. It doesn't help that it is super cold, windy, and rainy right now and it is an outdoor pool. At least it is heated, so once I get out of my car, there is a lot of motivation to get into the water ASAP. I have a half ironman in Morro Bay in May, so I really need to stick with the schedule for the next couple months.

Honestly, looking back over the last year, Rings of Power was the only show that I was excited to watch every week. I have a bunch of unfinished seasons of other stuff. My wife and I just finished Vikings Valhalla and it's good, but wasn't must watch TV. I guess Reacher might be 2nd place in that list. That was a pretty fun show too. Surprisingly both of those are on Amazon Prime. Nothing on Disney+ or Netflix stood out to me this year. Peacemaker on HBO was pretty good, but it's another one where I'm not dying for season 2.

Mrs. Hurlshot definitely phoned it in a bit on the competition. She has always been really good at cooking meat (I tend to handle vegetables) but I'm pretty sure she was throwing it. She was also a couple glasses of chardonnay in. Morgan Hill and Gilroy are pretty decent agricultural areas, even with all the development in recent years. My wife grew up here and can do all the weird farm stuff like strangling chickens or whatever. I'm a city boy compared to her. The High School has a functioning farm with livestock. I was surprised my daughter joined up, but her options for chemistry this year were a teacher she already struggled with or Soil Chem on the FFA track. She is getting good grades in Soil Chem, so I think she made the right choice. She also seems to enjoy the competition side of it and she's not afraid to get her hands dirty. We have plenty of friends with livestock on their property, so she is getting her animal husbandry credit there. I'm not building a chicken coop, no matter how much my wife and daughter bug me about it.

My wife and my daughter had a steak competition this weekend. I went to the store and got a fair amount of Round Eye Steaks for a decent price, and my daughter has been taking part in FFA (Future Farmers of America) and learning to judge meat (that's what she said.) My wife did a dry rub, seared it, and then baked it with rosemary and butter. It was decent. But my daughter seared and then basted it on the stove with onions and broth. She won! Now we get to bug her to cook steaks until she moves out of the house.

I finished Cyberpunk. I was fairly happy with the ending I got. There was still a ton of side missions and gigs left to complete, but my vacation is almost over, and I wanted to be done. Watching the credits for a bit really makes you realize what a massive undertaking this game was. It scrolled for about 10 minutes. We are talking about thousands of hands in the pot. I played on normal difficulty and was really enjoying the swordplay in the later levels. I wouldn't say it was very challenging, but there was enough style to keep it enjoyable.

Ok, this is a pretty deep response. Your last sentence about negative feelings is the real crux of the matter. I disagree that there is practically nothing to reverse course for negativity. You have the power to control that (and it doesn't take a special ring.)(Did you see what I did there? I would use an imbecilic emoji here but that comment hurt me.) As to the first paragraph...it's unreasonable to call most shows today poop. There has been some pretty bad Tolkien content in the past. That being said, if this is your favorite Tolkien content, it doesn't detract from my experience of other content. It obviously bums me out that many here didn't like Rings of Power. As my favorite online community of gaming buddies, it is always enjoyable to discuss what we are watching and playing with each other. It's also ok that we have different tastes. Calling someone's tastes crap is toxic though. That's basically what you are doing in that first paragraph. You are calling my taste crap. That's negative and unreasonable. The other day someone posted here about drinking diet soda. I was aghast at first. Not only do I think diet soda tastes bad, I also have serious concerns about the health impact of drinking it. I thought maybe I should post about it, but then I remembered we are adults, and the person is aware of the health concerns, and I don't need to lecture people here. Except when they call my tastes crap. Then I get to lecture about how insulting that is. *emoji redacted*

It's pretty hard to gauge how successfull RoP was, but I doubt many Prime shows are ahead of it in streaming numbers. It was extremely good, so I hope to see quite a few more seasons. It's weird how negative people are about stuff like this. I have no interest in Picard, but I certainly don't root against it. I hope it improves and continues for the people that like Star Trek.

I feel guilty for not picking it up, but the Marvel angle just held nothing for me. I usually try and pick up these good turn based games ASAP. I even bought Chaos Gate at full price, and I knew I'd struggle with the setting in that one. It is getting great reviews, for the most part, but I also have to be somewhat careful with my gaming budget.
