  1. I thought I'd follow up a bit on a thread that was happening in the funny things thread: Sharp_One posted an image of terrorist attacks in Europe. I noticed an island of the coast of Italy that was covered in red spots, and that sparked my interest. I couldn't figure out if it was Sardinia or Corsica, so I looked on google maps. Once I knew it was Corsica, I typed in Corsican Terrorism and learned a little bit about something called the National Liberation Front as well as some stories about Muslims in Corsica. I did this while helping my daughter with her homework and playing Elder Scrolls Online and reading over stuff on my phone (and at one point making sure my son pooped. It's a long story, but it ends with him not completing that quest.) Yay for multi-tasking! But really, skimming over a few pieces of information on the internet did not make me feel well-versed on the situation in Corsica, so I posed this question to the forum: It was a bit tongue in cheek, since everyone else was poking fun at the map and I wanted to get in on that. But it was also a legitimate query because we have a number of European posters here and the odds are they will have a better grasp of the situation then I can be expected to get from a wikipedia article. That's actually one of the beautiful things here, we tend to have people from all over the world that can answer rather obscure questions about all sorts of things. Anyways, I was fairly certain that someone would rise to the occasion and fill me in on the situation, and Amentep did not let me down with his clip from the Corsican brothers. Well played sir! I am not sure why I felt the need to write this up, but I figured I'd journal the thought process that goes on sometimes when I post. Right now I'm finishing my breakfast and have put myself about 10 minutes late to get out the door for work. Yikes!
  2. It is a bit funny how easy it is to try and be an expert on everything while talking on the internet. Ah well, we all have our moments of insufferableness. Some more than others.
  3. *insert a teacher jab here* https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Liberation_Front_of_Corsica Ah yes, reading wikipedia makes us all experts on everything. I do like the insinuation that teachers are supposed to know everything on everything. Why would I be well-versed in Corsican politics, exactly?
  4. So is Corsica just constantly under attack or something?
  5. Is that high? It has a much worse score among the non press reviewers, which is where you would think all the sjw nazi mutants would hang out.
  6. I'm not sure where Ghostbusters got positive reviews. Didn't it bomb at the box office?
  7. I'm past the Gal Gadot being too skinny for the role. I saw her in an interview with Conan where they were working in the gym, and that girl looks every bit the tall and athletic goddess she is supposed to be. I guess she served in the Israeli military, too.
  8. As a parent, let me tell you, the vast majority of all these new entertainment options are garbage. PBS is consistently the best choice for young kids. It is the gold standard. Nothing exceeds it, heck, nothing comes close to matching it. Everything Mr. Rogers said is still true, very few programs out there deal with the whole child.
  9. We need more Mr. Rogers.
  10. Sorry to hear that, Tale.
  11. Is the KKK a designated terrorist organization?
  12. The collateral damage argument versus terrorism is an interesting one, because we have our militaries actively engaged in many Muslim countries. It's pretty clear terrorists are justifying their acts based on the collateral damage that is happening there.
  13. Easily avoided? How so?
  14. I'm just surprised how quickly people are willing to give up rights. Whenever we have a mass shooting, liberals freak out and want to ban guns, whenever we have terrorism, conservatives freak out and want to ban Muslims. Two ships passing in the night.
  15. I assume they can't return for 3 generations.
  16. Ok, so let's say they do that (The Soros situation sounds a bit more complicated than that, but for simplicity sake.) Where do you deport these people? Also, since a lot of these attacks have been carried out by children of immigrants (who have citizenship), do you still deport them? Is there an example of a recent terrorist attack where these types of policy would have stopped it from happening?
  17. I'm kind of what Sharp_One thinks is the solution here? Just round up thousands of suspicious people and detain them?
  18. I'm not sure that health care is something our society should be using the stick method for. I'd prefer more carrot.
  19. Not enforcing, or getting rid of, the penalties is definitely a positive. Still I'd rather they find a way to make sure people can get covered affordably.
  20. Maybe they look further than the end of their noses? What? You don't know idioms either? Who the hell hires you as a teacher? Flat earth society? Yap yap yap, dog. Clearly he is just asking you to explain your point further. You must be an engineer with such inept communication skills. I'd go with a one-trick pony over a dog, since he relies so heavily on the teacher digs. I mean, who can blame him? Clearly my identity as a teacher is tied heavily to my interactions on a video game forum, and every time he mentions it, it shakes my confidence to its very core. I guess we can all just ignore Sharp's idea that Trump supporters are all willing to sacrifice personal health care for a vague notion of "the greater good".
  21. Maybe they look further than the end of their noses? What?
  22. There is a PS4 version. The expansion is only available to people on the PC who pre-ordered at this point, although I think it releases fully in two weeks. It's fun sneaking around Slaver's houses and stealing stuff, somehow I feel more justified about it that way.
  23. Yeah, that never stopped being a problem for me. I was constantly trying to get more scrap metal. Towards the end I got better at choosing to run away when I had the option.
  24. ESO: Morrowind is fantastic. They definitely nailed the vibe of the old game.
