  1. It's not too surprising that Grounded is their biggest, given that it is targetted to a much larger demographic than just the crotchety old timers that hang out here.
  2. Skynet was amazing. It was the best sniper game long before sniper games became a thing.
  3. Yeah, I mean I thought this was all pretty obvious when Betsy DeVos got her time in the spotlight. Rich people really need to get better hobbies.
  4. I've been taking the train to work regularly, and I can't believe I didn't start doing it earlier. With our recent home purchase and move, my 45 minute drive to work became more like an hour, so I knew I needed an alternative. The great thing is I leave for the train about the same time I'd need to leave in my car, and I only get home about 30 minutes later. I jump on my bike in the morning at about 6:15 AM and ride 2 miles to the train station. It's downhill and so I can cover it super fast. Train rolls out at 6:29. Then it gets to my stop around 7:14 AM (It covers about 40 miles and there are only 4 stops on the way.) I then jump on my bike and ride about 9 miles to work. It's a bit slow going with the traffic lights, but I still get it done in about 35-40 minutes and make it before my 8 AM first period of the day. In the afternoon I have a fair amount of extra time to get to the train before it heads home, so it's not nearly as rushed. The train itself is pretty nice and even has a bathroom. It's never crowded where I get on (apparently it gets busier as they get closer to San Francisco. I'm surprised more people don't do this, as the car traffic is terrible where I live. That being said, there have been some delays and stopped trains. It sounds like everything runs smoothly 90% of the time, which is good, but not great. I can see why being late once every two weeks could be an issues for people. That being said, yay for trains and bikes and boo to cars.
  5. In terms of parent permission, it's pretty clear to me that if a teenager is having unprotected sex without their parent's knowledge, and then wants to go get an abortion, again without the parent's knowledge, that parent has already failed on many levels. There are far too many crappy parents out there for me to think they deserve to be included in such a serious situation. Of course, counseling services are a must. That is what Planned Parenthood actually does. They counsel women and offer them aid. I've had 2 co-workers who credit Planned Parenthood with helping them deal with their teenage pregnancies. Both chose not to abort, and planned parenthood gave them the resources to get through school, go to college, and they eventually ended up teaching.
  6. Disco Elysium is designed to be played with a strong drink in hand. You are doing it wrong if you played it any other way. It's like you guys aren't serious about RPG's here.
  7. After playing a 2nd session, I decided to refund it. I wouldn't say it was bad, but it was still fairly clunky. Maybe I'll give it another try down the road. I also don't love buying games on Epic, so that was another issue. At least it was easy to refund.
  8. My safeway card club number is a landline from a house I lived in 30 years ago.
  9. Never mind, I decided to get it myself and be the guinea pig. I only got to play a bit, but so far it seems like a solid survival crafting building game set in Moria.
  10. Is anyone playing Return to Moria? I'd love a solid Conan Exiles type game in Middle Earth, but I don't trust reviews and can't tell if this game is good or bad. Apparently they are working on a Shire version too.
  11. I'm not sure what you mean. I haven't had any issues running it. That being said, they've been working on it quite a bit post-release, so hopefully it runs better if it didn't originally for you.
  12. Wartales got added to Xbox Gamepass, so go play it if you haven't already.
  13. We finished cleaning out our old house yesterday and gave the keys back to the landlord. There was an awkward moment where he asked us if we were going to clean the fridge. I told him he needs to have a cleaning crew come in. He acted put out. I just ignored it, but I was trying hard not to roll my eyes. We lived there for 5 years, we aren't going to scrub it down for you. He needs to paint it and clean it. We paid his mortgage and took good care of the property, but we are moving on. I'm excited not to have to worry about a landlord anymore. Now it's time to unpack the new place.
  14. Iron Oath is releasing version 1.0. It sounds like a good Battle Brothers type game, so I'm picking it up. It's quite a good price. https://www.gog.com/game/the_iron_oath
  15. So. Much. Moving. I miss the days in college where I could pack all of my belongings into a compact car. Getting married and having kids comes with a lot of baggage. That being said, the new house is great. My fridge communicates with me now and can tell me when the kids leave the door open too long. I'm exhausted.
  16. Surely that would be a poor use of the word. Atheism is a very specific rejection of beliefs. It's a fairly hard-line stance. Technically the US doesn't have a state religion.
  17. This comment seemed odd to me, so I looked up the top irreligious countries. In my mind, there really isn't any country that is atheist. There are countries that actively crack down on religion, sure, but are there countries that just lack a belief in some sort of religion? Wikipedia results are murky, so I'll have to do more research. Also I'm pretty sure Lexx must be Swedish with that statement, but he could also be Vietnamese.
  18. Miracles and Magic would seem to be inherently different. Magic, according to fantasy rules, can be reproduced. There is typically a method or a system to it. Miracles are, by their very nature, unusual and unpredictable. Jesus didn't turn water into wine at every meal, I'd imagine. Herb Brooks wasn't a wizard, beating the USSR was a one-time deal. As for WoT, the show sucks and the people are all unlikeable.
  19. I've actually started to take the train with my bike, which cuts it down to 10 miles each way, so that's been great. I am moving further down the tracks, but it won't change my commute time by much.
  20. We bought a house. Well, a townhome, but it's pretty nice. We have been renting for about 15 years, so it is a big deal. We just cleared to close, so sometime next week we will get the keys and start moving.
  21. Yeah, the story in NMS was a big nothingburger for me.
  22. So Florida spent 1.5 million dollars flying Venezuelan refugees from Texas to Martha's Vineyard as part of a political stunt. How do people vote for these clowns?
  23. It also seems incredibly early to write off a medium sized game like Lamplighters. It's been a week, give the game some time to grow.
  24. I've downloaded it, but haven't played it yet. Bummer.
