  1. I'd like it if once everyone has their own digital distribution methods, like first Stardock had, now Valve...Bio's working on their own now too. That it allowed you to download the full version of the game without paying, but after a set time, probably a couple of hours so you could judge whether it was worth you money or not; it would lock up, and you'd have to either pay for it to get a key code so you could install it; or uninstall it from you HDD. Shareware has been doing this for years, and it would eliminate people who download to try a game going through not only the risks incurred to their own systems via virii, but also legal problems.
  2. Is there any possible way to implement option B in a way that if you clicked the icon after you'd been taken to the next dev post, clicked it again after that it would take you to the one after that. Advantages to that system, would be you'd still see the dev posts, in context, yet you wouldn't neccesarily have to scroll through all twenty pages of a thread just to pick out the dev posts. Disadvatages....quite honestly, I can't really see any.
  3. Not really on topic, and kind of reinforces the viewpoint I'm sure many people here share that you're one to jump to conclusions, eh? There could be all sorts of explanations for it. It's simply an "interesting signal", AFAIK. That's not to say I think the sightings in Mexico aren't intriguing. But for bystanders like ourselves there really are no trustworthy sources, since if you accept the idea that extraterrestrials really have been monitoring us all through the civilized age then the fact that we've been kept in the dark about it validates pretty much every wacko theory about governments conspiring hush it all up and mislead us! You really can't know without personal experience, can you... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How is posting something possible jumping to conclusions? I never said we we're contacted by an alien race based on that link. lol. And your right, without personal experience, most people wouldn't know. Speculation is all the average citizen has. And if one investigates certain things, that speculation becomes more and more likely.. And ETs monitoring us has nothing to do with conspiracy theories in the government IMO. If I saw a infantile developing race I would be interested to watch and study as well. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good points. If we assume that ET is monitoring us and that ET takes the form many of the stories converge to (i.e. at least a few of them are likely to be correct), the idea that Governments know about this and are conspiring to keep the general populace in the dark about it starts looking more likely simply because of the number of these tales that involve government cover-up. For the governments, I can see motivation to cover it up were they aware of it: to avoid panic in the short term, and because many people in those positions tend to be set in their ways and to have personal interests best looked after by maintaining the status quo. What possible motivation, however, has ET in this scenario to make our world leaders aware of their presence whilst concealing themselves from the rest of us? ET appears to get nothing out of Earth apart from observational data, whilst the Government-conspiracy theories also involve alien technology being given to the US government in particular, a large amount of it ending up in military hardware. If ET is tampering to help us grow and improve as a species, offering us better ways to blow each other up isn't going to help! The only thing I can think of at the moment is that ET do need something or other we have, badly, and don't wish to just rip in and take it; the secret negotiators sent by our Governments realised this and bargained hard, extorting weapons technology out of them in exchange for it, ET seeing us blowing each other up a lesser evil than them blowing us up. This is completely mad :D :D Whaddayathink? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Mainly what the people who buy into these theories think the aliens want are slaves, food depending on the type (I don't really believe in the conspiracy theories, but they do interest me in the way a good science fiction book does) and natural resources. Other theories include that they're placing implants in use to 'control our brains' while the US gov is doing the exact same thing to counter the alien's implants, as the aliens eventual goal is to take over out planet after having collected enough data. As I said above, I think most of it is a load of bunk junk that continues to grow the way urban legends do....but one can't really be sure. Damned entertaining to read about it though. :D If you watch the old made for TV miniseries V you should get a good idea what I mean.
  4. The ship or the poster? There are several poster prints. The ship... well now... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sweet, thank you Nartwark. Second link seems the best bet since the UK version appears to be gone for good.
  5. Thank you Nartwak, now, do you know where I can buy one? :D Actually, I really have seen a 'UFO' at least, it was a damn low flying aircraft, came just about right over my head, for god only knows what reason, was kinda wigging out swaying from side to side. When it was just over my head, there was a bunch of pressure on me, like someone was standing on top of me. I later found out from a friend though, that it was probably just one of these: An Aurora.....which hasn't really been declassified yet, but there's some evidence to suggest it exists, and the SR-71 wasn't released until 20 years after it had been put into service. I doubt everything about it said here was true however. I imagine it was just a liftfan like that found in the Joint Strike Fighter, not a full blown anti-grav unit. The theory that this WAS a government aircraft is lended merit because I later found out from my parents that there's an USAF base a little ways away from me. Too bad, it would've been neat to have a close encounter with the 'third' kind.
  6. uh... Engineers? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  7. Metallica = One (S&M version, the bestest)
  8. I just can't stop laughing. For those who aren't familiar, there was a storyline in the webcomic PvP for awhile, where two of the characters made up a dating service for geeks and called it Geekluv, it was just fan-fokking-tastic, and a must read: GEEKLUV 1 GEEKLUV 2 GEEKLUV 3 GEEKLUV 4 GEEKLUV 5 GEEKLUV 6 GEEKLUV 7 GEEKLUV 8 GEEKLUV 9 GEEKLUV 10 Well, some sad, lonely nerd, has made a real online dating service 'for gamers' that to me seems awfully damned similar. So much so, that I emailed the strip creator Scott Kurtz in case he hadn't already seen it. It's called MMODating. What I don't understand is why it's called this when MMO games are such a niche title.....oh well, still freaking hilarious.
  9. ^^^Sounds like you know what you're talking about. For the most part, if you go for a pure science degree, you're ****ing screwed if you don't have something else to balance it out. What you suggested 'nai, would mean taking some sort of economics course, something heavy on economics based statistics as well to balance it out. When someone goes for a pure science degree, even if they're the most inventive, brilliant mind of this age.....they usually don't make all that much money, unless they're working for the government, they usually end up doing low wage, low yield jobs for the rest of their lives in the form of research at a local university. Once you factor in the money it takes to GET a degree such as the one described for a research job....unless you've got some hefty scholarships, you're looking at a long, long time before all your school debts are paid off. Which is why, rather than going into a pure science job as I fancied for a long time, I decided to go into computer sciences, specifically programing.....that way if programming doesn't work out, I'll still have a horde of IT and Networking jobs to fall back on. Even so, I'll probably be selling myself short developing for games as I intend to, compared if I developed software for non entertainment purposes; but I should enjoy devving games alot more.
  10. <insert Mulder's "I Want to Believe" poster here>
  11. I chatted with Tim Brown of Raider's fame at Napa, while on a boarding school trip. Then had a card signed, but gave it back since it was a card my friend had given me a couple minutes before thinking he'd never be able to get it signed. I think I'm a very stupid person in some ways.
  12. Dude, Mith's advice was good. Engineering is big business. If you don't want to do something mainstream....Bioengineering is getting more and more popular.... That is, if you're at all interested in making any sort of money.....pure science is the path to lifelong crap jobs, with small payoffs....up to you.
  13. Well, if HK wasn't unique in his regard for the enjoyment of killing 'meatbags' they might not even have made charges past repairs and upgrades.
  14. He might be a decent actor elsewhere, then he was just cast wrongly or directed poorly in the SW movies <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Agreed. Just like Natalie Portman....has some damn fine movies....but the prequels ain't any of them.
  15. I can't yet as a minor, but come I'm past the age of eighteen, and I have the money saved up to get one. I'll be getting one of Fuzzy (Sam and Fuzzy) on my shoulder.
  16. Why not just take a page from Isaac Asimov and build cities resembling the Caves of Steel. It'd be completely feasible considering you started it with a small area, rich with whatever ore you decide to build it out of, and branch out gradually. Probably would be most efficient to have it contained almost exclusively underground, but I don't see any problem with having some sort of 'peak of the dome' as a hatch that's at the surface of the ground. Do they seriously believe this is going to happen, or is this just for fun. Sounds alot like Cold War 2.0 to me.
  17. Did they install that after my trolling spree or something? I can't count how many censored words I said in that bout of juevenile delinquency.
  18. I'll drink to that, at least I like girls.
  19. Freedom Files has a nice little bit on the Pentagon. I don't really have the knowledge to say if their analysis make any hard sense or not....but given brief searches they seem to. There was a Titan firetruck not even in civilian airports prior to the crash at the pentagon, made specificially to fight aircraft fires, which is why they modded it from military tech to put in airports. Sitting there....apparently because the pres was making a trip out their in helicopter six or so hours later. <shrugs> The real interesting bit for me though, was the analysis of the wreckage. What they say is it was one of the Navy's experimental unmanned aircraft, painted to look like a jetliner....or one of the aircrafts that this tech is based on. Like I said, not really any way to tell if it's true or not....but it is 'interesting'.
  20. No, I believe they're talking about the made for TV live action movies....with Wicket as the lead role...with basically the same story elements, but craptastic acting. <_<
  21. Most definitely considering that it was when they started them, and after they 'upgraded' it was more or less the same with a couple tweaks. Go for it.
  22. Which is exactly why I'm waiting as long as geekly possible to upgrade. If all goes well, it'll be around June next year when I have a real job.
  23. Hrm....I don't think it comes on again until midweek.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> O, the 2nd part of the pilot hasn't aired yet? I DL them to watch em. Good thing I didn't post my theory yet, spoilers and such <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Maybe in some parts of the world it has. But I posted that thread as soon as I saw the first one....and that's now five days ago....so I'd surmise that it will air on Wednesday just like I saw the first one. You can get them off the internet before they even air? I really need highspeed.
  24. Actually, that would go a long way towards making it all good in my eyes. So long as the death was sufficiently grisly and painful. :D
  25. Bah! Don't try and say that now, I replied almost as soon as you posted it. Fake breasts? No, I hate them too, I'd rather a lady be completely flat than have those things. Now if you just don't like breasts, well maybe you're gay... .... Don't call my giant breasts 'funbags'! My proportions are always 'off' since that's the way I like it. Once I start modeling I'll fiddle with the proportions so that they're what I think is best for the model(this usually just means making the shins longer). I mean it's not like she's human. Funny how almost no one has said a word about the stuff without breasts... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think ye just proved I'm not gay right there.
