  1. The OC is the most overrated POS ever. No, everyone is not rich in Orange County, that might as well be a fictional place for all the show made of it.
  2. I'm non-partisan dude. But I hate Bush. I hate Kerry too, but he looks to be SOMEWHAT better. It's not that the mainstream media isn't sometimes relevant, so much as the fact they all have a hidden agenda. I don't believe there will be a civil war either, because by then, we'll have lost so many freedoms there will be no way to rebel. <shrug>
  3. This is why I think an elected monarchy would be an awesome thing. You pick several people who have a brilliant mind, but DOESN'T want that kind of power, and does nothing to actively pursue it. The people elect one of them, they rule until they die, or are taken down by a voter's majority. After all, if an administration ain't broke, why fix it? You mean Schwartznegger? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Arnie is more of a straight shooter than most politicians I know of, and I'd trust him in office more'n about anyone else; but the same thing stands, just about anyone who wants that kind of power, isn't the kind of person you want in office.
  4. And thank you for demonstrating the 'Laugh Curtain' that keeps everyone from believing any of this is true, even in the rare event it's covered in the media. (Skull and Bones story in Newsweek for example. )
  5. OMGAWDS!!!! John Titor was right!!! Naw, I'm just kidding, I see doom on the horizon, but I'll just watch things play out until I'm sure. The thing is Cosmo, in order for people to feel like their freedoms have been taken away, they have to have had some in the first place. That's why the government has been gradually taking our freedom away for a long time now. If they take few enough freedoms away at a time, no one but the 'conspiracy theorists' notice.
  6. The future of Farscape is pretty open-ended and really depends on things like how well the miniseries does, what Henson Productions can do, interest from TV stations or movie studios and so on. I know it had been mentioned by Rockne O'Bannon (the series mastermind) and someone at Henson that it's possible the show could go into movie format or a series of mini-series, or even regular television production, but it all depends on many factors. Mainly that PKW has to do very well in ratings. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If they do a movie it'll be all-new-'1337ed' up CG characters instead of muppets, just like the Prequel Trilogy.
  7. !!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You know he's right; about the Billy Gates Box at least. <runs from Billy Gates Box fanbois>
  8. You're telling me... Maybe it's the house or something, I would be replacing hard-disks and cd drives pretty frequently. Really frequently. And then there would be a new problem arising every now and then for one or another dysfunctional part (later on, my computer would crash variably between 10 minutes and a full 3 hours of work.) On top of that was the crappy video card which wasn't working so well and I needed to upgrade, unbeknowest to me. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's odd, really odd. I've had my current PC specs for about a year now, and I'm still able to play literally EVERYTHING even if it's not on full resolution (I can play Doom III on High but not Ultra). First, what HDD brand are you buying? There's been known problems with several of the major brands lately, Maxtor, Western Digital, and some other one I don't remember being among them. I've had really good luck with my dual Seagate drives. Also, the cheapest video card, even if it's the same 'model' may not be the same quality as the manufacturer's will take the same GPU and amount of RAM (read technology/model) and totally remake it with software changes, and cooling tech. If you're buying ATI, I'd stick to house ATI cards, or Sapphire, with the occasional Infotek depending on the reviews. Nvidia, house, Chainsaw, MSI, and VIA seem to be best. I've also found that a well maintained, build your own computer will last a helluva lot longer than one of those crappy in house Dell/HP/Compaq/Sony/Whatever, with the exception of maybe Monarch, Falcon, Alienware, or Voodoo. But even then, those will cost you a heap more money than if you build it yourself, and you don't have quite the amount of knowledge that will be handy for tweaking it down the line when it's on it's last legs before it's upgrade. If you build your own, tweak it out a little, and take good cre of it, it will actually be cheaper than a console in the long run because they absolutely RAPE you with console game prices; so long as you're not the kind of person who pre-orders everything. Hope this helps.
  9. Hrm....haven't bought one yet, but when I do, I'll probably grab the GC first, and then when the Xbox2 comes out, I'll pick up two of the older ones. One for modding, and one for actual games.
  10. So, anyone excited about the new X-Men movie? Hopefully they'll have The Beast and Phoenix this time around. <runs from fanboys>
  11. I've said it once, and I'll say it again. It doesn't matter which candidate wins, because Skull and Bones already has.
  12. The man in the suit is the 'magic prescence' on the island is my guess. At least they showed him looking at Locke when he said he 'looked into the core of the island, and what he saw was magic' in the previews for the next episode. Hrm, divine miracles (Locke was a paraplegic before the plane crash, in a wheelchair), magic. Getting interesting.
  13. Don't respond to your own question n00b. Every gamer in the world has heard of or played Kotor1, thus new fans != possible. End of thread. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Remember folks, don't ever try to argue with a jackass. They'll bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience.
  14. Depending upon how much of a Badass he is, I'd go with Sion. But since I haven't seen him in action, I'm gonna have to go with Maul. He was the only good thing about the prequels....can't believe Lucas killed him off so fast. Bastard.
  15. Dunno, I imagine midway through like the bit that was strung together out of the flashbacks and such in the middle when you found out you were Revan.
  16. Didn't I read somewhere that the Basilisk War Droids were semisentient, almost like a horse or dog? And that a Mandalorian rider had to bond with it in order to 'become one' with it, and establish trust between rider and mount? That would make it rather pet like IMO.
  17. What if she like midway through the game (like the 'Revanalation' ), she busts out, and it turns out she was using her mastery of the force to mask her true appearance? i.e. A heavy wind starts flowing, her appearance changes into a regular old darkside user, hair flowing in the wind, robes swirling around her and turning black. I'm thinking like that one scene in Fellowship of the Ring? It would make a right dandy cutscene at least.
  18. My school was extremely old, and extemely low budget. Plus a few of the teachers still found the Ditto Machine useful for Bog only knows what purpose. I personally found the thing horrid having used it a couple times.
  19. It's good to know I wasn't the only person who read the Silmarillion. B)
  20. acctually ditto is an old term when it started I don't know but I know it was used in the 80's anyway (ever see the movie Ghost?). If you were asking why was he agreeing its because he I guess was wondering how a finnish phrase was chosen to be used in star wars. As to what ditto means that I explained sort of anyway as did jedipodo. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> IIRC, Ditto is the old school carbon paper copiers they used in schools before the advent of copy machines. Kinda sad that a seventeen year old knows this, and the adults here don't. w00t! I was right: Ditto Machine
  21. w00t! I'm set then! B) <throws diet and excersise out the window>
  22. oh no... not at all. technical drawings exist, certainly, but that's only part of the picture. autocad is more of a mechanical designer job, usually related to a 2 year technician type degree. metallurgy has it's own degree (metalurgical, aka "no-sweat-met") and welding is, well, a trade (union). mechanical engineers tend to do a lot of load analysis which involves extensive finite element mathematics. HVAC is another major field as well as airframes, etc. ceramic engineers exist in a similar world as chemical engineers (and even some metalurgical engineers) with the study of complex material interactions (i have a friend that designs the glass beads they use in reflective highway paints and signs). civil engineers design roadways and bridges and stuff. they're also involved with building designs. electrical is unbelievably diverse... computer engineering, software engineering (most are EEs), signal processing/communications (my field), analog circuit design, digital circuit design, radio frequency circuit design, antenna design, micro-chip design (analog and digital), control systems design (the systems that control large automated plants, etc. among other things), power design which could be power systems for a satellite or large power transmission systems for cities and towns... i could go on forever. the six major areas are dsp/comm, digital, analog, power, controls and computers. since you already have a math degree, EE is actually a natural step. my particular interests, btw, revolve around orthonormal bases for various reasons. my theses (MS) was on a subject regarding wavelets, an orthonormal basis alternative to the fourier series providing simultaneous time and frequency analysis capabilities (fourier is only frequency). the theory was advanced primarily by a woman named ingrid daubechies at rutgers, a mathemetician. my work is primarily detection theory (in a nutshell) for which reference #1 is Thomas Bayes, a statistician. his famous work "Essay towards solving a problem in the doctrine of chances" was published in 1764 (posthumously) and is the foundation for Bayesian statistics... my upcoming classwork (phd) includes complex variables and algebraic coding theory, both math classes and both semi-required (at my advisor's behest). if you want a smattering of theory that i live in, do a search on the following: Fourier, Laplace, Hertz, Marconi, Swerling, Central Limit Theorem, Bayes, Nyquist, Claude Shannon, Heaviside, Viterbi (qualcomm founder)... and on it goes. taks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My brain hurts. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Mine doesn't. Engineering sounds pretty sweet, especially ceremics and materials engineering. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was joking. I understood most of it, except the bits that I haven't come across yet. I'll stick to Game Development, heavy on the math, heavier on the fun.
  23. Actually, you did. When you post on a forum you're basically asking for anyone's and everyone's opinion. If you want more privacy, use ICQ/MSN/AIM. Freak. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeh, I suspect that's why she bl0x0red me from all those.
