yes that would be more than sufficient. But Iran would never do that, it would be the end of their reign and nation. They would loose everything and gain nothing, since no one would back them up. As long as they appear to be adhearing to international war (soldiers caught in national waters can be detained and questioned) they are in no risk of retaliation. But as soon as they break international laws they are in real trouble.

I was looking at "The Picture of Dorian Gray" which is on my shelf, which I've never read.. So I took it down and decided to read it. Interesting read indeed! ^_^

There's a huge difference between EU demanding a country to comply and EU going to war.. Iraq was threathend several times, when they refused inspectors to do their work, I realize this kind of situation is different, but I don't believe anyone is really interested in a war here. No one is that stupid, Iran would be thwarthed and we could leave immediately after, we wouldn't hold any moral responsibility to restore them like in Iraq. And both EU and The US are tired of war so it would take something much more radical than a hostage situation to provoke us to war. Jorian, you seem to forget the power of words and political means to an end. It's far more beneficial in these matters (in the long run) to use a harsh political tone than physical reprecussions. Especially since EU and US are trying to restore their reputation in these days (especially to their citizens), which Iran is, cleverly I might add, taking advantage of. We would loose more if we go to war and they gain international reputation by staving us off. They are trying to see how far they can push us.

Usually these kinds of plans are simple at heart, even if their consequences are wideranging.. I personally think Iran wanted to show the west that they were dilligent in defending their territory and watchful of any movement within their borders and were probably waiting for a chance to detain some Coalition forces. This, they hope, allows them to have a slight upper hand in diplomatic negotiations, as they could justify it as a military decision instead of a hostage situation. It also takes focus away from their nuclear program and while they are putting themselves in a bad light from a western point of view, I believe many Middle-eastern/African and Asian countries (currently being "threathend" by American foreign policies) sees them as being vigilant against the growing power The US (in their eyes growing hunger for power).. Thus they send out a strong signal of power and defiance. But I'm sure that when Bush comes to shove, they'll hand over the marines in second. They are being held for political reasons and as political leverage, not as an excuse to ignite war and they won't loose face by handing the soldiers as long as they gain even the sligthest in return.

I think the WOF would be pretty clean from newcomers.. since it's a place that takes some adaption! in case of Obs closing, I would feel a little emptier inside.. It's the first and only board I've ever been part of for more than 2 months.. and it'll probably be the last as well..
  7. this could be said about most good games.. I don't understand why this whole concept has become so popular! cartoons - sure.. but video games really have a bad track record in the movie industry.. Why they keep doing it eludes me, there's more money in making regular braindead action films!

I've always thought that philosophy was too focused on the interpretations of words and ideas.. It becomes a bit anal when you discuss endlessly the precise meaning of the word "exsistence", but then I started reading some more - and suddenly I realized that philosophy helps the other branhces of science with definitions and helps with homogenization and interpretations of difficult concepts, that are otherwise difficult to explain. I now view ph like the foundation (and not just historically) on which other sciences build their theories and ideas.
  9. did she drop any good loot?
  10. and put on an armor that a 10 feet tall giant was just wearing.. -- People will repeat themselves endlessly when they run out of news/goosip/interesting things to say.. Things apparantly only happen when you are around (those orcs will stand in the exact same spot for days and days until you pass by) Graveyards all have silly inscriptions and will often contain zombies or other various nightcreatures at night..
  11. But anyway I think it's cool system.. it allows for us members to interact in a whole new way.. and with the addition of what feels like a really personal page - I suddenly find myself lurking around alot more profiles!

Thanks Pidesco that clears things up a bit.. So I guess this means we won't be able to make our own blogs on our personal pages? .. hmm that would've been neat though (albiet a little hard to moderate)

  18. they're not underlined on my screen either.. which is why I thought it was pretty sneaky.. you could write an entire alternative post that way..
  19. recruit the kid into some kind of national service I say.. if he's capable talking/bluffing his way into boarding 2 planes and then drive away in a stolen vehicle at age 9 - he's gonna be a true Bond when he grows up..
  20. well it seems that there is quite some evil prospects, to this new system. it requires patience though! [acronym=well, it seems you can write some funky underlying messages this way.. pretty cool if you ask me! you have to be quite attentive when reading posts from now on! ].[/acronym]
  21. I was aiming for a 5 .. but I hit a 4 .. :'( that star looked lonely when I came by
  22. btw - the "there are no friends to display" thingie/bar doesn't show who added you.. but who you added to the list.. so in effect it simply means Sand didn't add any yet... and if you add someone they don't automatically get you on their list, they have to add you as well.. Now that however - is highschool! ^_^ actually you write subliminal messages this way!
