  1. Eternal life is tempting - but mostly because of the fact that something new and exiciting will always arise.. you might've seen alot but you'll never have seen it all.. and once man reaches the stars - when then it get's interesting!
  2. our brain doesn't need more oxygen to think better (or clearer) as much as more energy.. So if I could have an implant that constantly supplied me with the broken down compounds my body needed- and sorted out the bad ones - I would choose that. Then you could go eat and drink like you wanted without consequences.. hedonism is my favorite sin! ^_^ although I appriciate healing too.. my first pick would be an intelligence-altering implant though.
  3. I'm more concerned with what works rather than keeping everyone happy.. and it's not a lose/lose situation at all - it's ****ed up, true! but that doesn't mean all hope for progress is lost. It is favorable. [1] For starters, you don't know what the political landscape will be like after a possible civil war. And even in the event of a rabidly fundamentalist, warmongering, anti-western faction gaining supremacy, it would take them a long time to rebuild and rearm the country into something that can be a threat. And when they do, well. If they are stupid enough to try and pull that one again after what's cost them, they deserve what's coming to them, quite frankly. The transition is complete, in case you have forgotten. The only transition that remains for the Iraqi people is the one that will make them into a fully mature society capable of living in peace without the threat of overwhelming force. Virtually all "modern" societies achieved this, by means of bloody (civil) wars. So why do you think it can be different with the Iraqi, even after facts suggest otherwise? [2]Where do we draw the line and just quit, according to you?[3]Also, and just for the sake of coherence, would you be willing to serve as a peacekeeper in a military unit in Iraq? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> [1] To just sit idle by and watch someone even more cruel take the mantle of dictator only to eventually be forced to move in again later and crush a new merging power - is not only stupid and shortsigthed but also signs of a dangerously ignorant attitude towards others. Especially saying that they derserve what's coming to them .. I won't punish you for being the friendly neighbour of a serial killer. (A rather limited analogy - but you get the point) [2] When the people of Iraq are ready to assume control (and ask us to leave).. which they aren't at this point.. and when the brewing civil war is merely people debating instead of fighting. This might be some years from now - but that's what we've chosen to involve ourselves in, now we must see it through! I wouldn't mind USA being "world police" if they demonstrate that they are capable of it. And I do see the irony in being willing to force freedom on others. [3] If it was absolutely necessary yes.. but as long as I have the luxury of choice, no.. I won't kill, or be ready to kill, unless I'm forced to it.
  4. ^ in response: We = all the countries involved in the occupation of Iraq. How about we allow Iraqi troops to come to USA and patrol our streets so we would know how it's like to be occupied and get our doors kicked in every now and then, since we got American citizens taking arms via the God-given right of the 2nd Amendment to defend our country, having the santity of our private homes taken away. Since USA got tons of WMD's piled up in bases all over the country, isn't USA guilty in that sense that is the reason Iraq was invaded? Or overthrowing and hanging a dictator (Bush) and get one hundred thousand American citizens killed, as Iraq suffered with their own people? Our water sources, agriculture, military and industries destroyed, our own country being pushed back years. And have 180,000 Muslims patrol our streets (plus 30,000) more to come. With those 30,000 troops coming, we sure won't fight back as insurgents. Kinda how they would feel, no? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You didn't answer my questions.. I wouldn't like that to happen though - you're right there.. But if the opposite is that a dictator runs my country - who kidnaps and tortures my neighbours, family and friends - I think I would welcome as many tropps it takes to take him out.. especially if these forces were there to only remove him and then help rebuild my country (even if they weren't very good) .. I would also do all in my power to help them out - in order for them to leave the country as fast as possible.
  5. so let me get this straight, you believe the best course of action is to leave Iraq and let the different factions fight it out amongst themselves? Now let's just theorize on this for a moment.. The Coalition pulls out and full blown civil war preceeds. What do you think will be the outcome of this? knowing which factions are most likey to sue for control - and what kind of goverment do you think will take control? I believe we will see religious extremists or a new facist faction "winning" .. is this favorable? I don't think it is.. somtimes - even if it's hard, we must assume the role of the "responsible" party. Since we, willingly or not, are mainly responsible for the current situation in Iraq, it's therefore irresponsible for us to simply let them fight it out amongst themselves.. In the western world, most of our countries have moved through a civil war prior to democracy - but is that necessary? I believe we must help the transistion, no matter what the cost is to us at this point. Much like we would step in and resolve the conflicts between two factions within our own society, we must remain and keep the agression focused on us (as Iraq have stepped into our circle of allies now) - it's a sacrifice that would most likely ensure the stability of Iraq for long time .. and I would rather have a democracy that is a bit ambivalent towards us, than an extremist or facist leadership that needs to vent agression outwards to keep itself stabile. In short, it's what would be most beneficial to the most people in the long run.
  6. let me ask you both a set of question Sand and Eddo.. I just want to boil your opinions down to tangible answers.. - what do you believe would be the most beneficial course of action at this point? - what outcome would you hope to achieve in Iraq? - how do you think this is best achieved (to both of the previous questions)
  7. ahh nice to see that that LEGO is so popular! :D (a little bonus info - LEGO stands for "Leg Godt" which means, roughly translated "Play Good") and LEGO was definitely my favorite toy as well.. I had like 5 50x50x20 boxes just filled with different kinds - plus a bunchload of platforms.. and I would build anything from them.. although my brother was by far the most creative in that department .. the toy inspired him to become an industrial designer actually.. And then Heman and Turtles figures..
  8. all too true.. you heartless heartless man!
  9. It would be like an entire game in itself keeping control of troublesome NPCs.. I would really love to see that as a big part of a game - especially if you could betray them right back.. You could commit all kinds of crimes and pin it on one in your party!
  10. already have it.. I'm a big fan of Aphex Twin! but it's a very different kind of music.. I've found that the Solaris soundtrack makes me totally relaxed..
  11. instead of cheerleaders? ^_^
  12. it would be great if you were forced to deal with the cloakndagger schemes of your evil shipmates - that tries to usurp you in creative ways, just to avoid fighting you (unless of course they think they are strong enough for that)
  13. It's from 2003 and was made by Cliff Martinez.. but George Clooney and Natascha McElhone are on the front cover.. it doesn't have all the songs from the film (like that ICP song) only the ambient numbers..
  14. The Soundtrack to Solaris.. The best ambient music I've heard in my life! this feeling may be biased since I really enjoyed the film, but still - it's just incredible!
  15. Just saw it online yesterday - A very gripping motion picture.. I especially loved the chaotic feel of the film - they really created the feeling of a Dystopia, which had lost all hope of a brigther future (well actually the hope of a future all together). And a really gritty version of V for Vendetta's polished totalitarian state in Britain. Not to compare those two films though!
  16. obviously because Greek doesn't consider it a real country..
  17. x Ukraine of course.. and I'm used to calling The UK; England.. And furthermore Yugoslavia haven't existed for quite some time.. and no Gorth, those are it ..
  18. yeah I was really stunned by that.. But the only other country than USA, I could think of that started with a U, was Uruguay .. and I'm not even sure that's a country.. ^_^
  19. Well he had been thought the arts of Gent'ing .. but he twisted and perverted it - so while it may appear to the layman, that he was in fact a Gent', this is far from the truth.
  20. and with your cold heart, and skeptic mind, he would therefore be invisible..
  21. that's a very good poem..
  22. Yeah I've been wanting to see that as well.. guess I have a list now! ^_^ I also wanna catch these films: The Fountain The Prestige Children of Men Has anyone seen them? recommendable? I just saw "This divided State" - and I like how objective it is compared to alot of it's siblings.. it shows how narrowminded everyone can be - and how the actually resonable few are drowned in the masses of stupidity and pride.
  23. I'm currently playing a Civ3 game with the new Fallout Mod.. it's kinda funky, but a beta so it's not complelty done yet .. but you have to give the author credit for making it look like a Fallout strategy game!
  24. okay here's a little game .. the rules are smple - don't laugh or even smile, while watching this! if you last for more than 15 seconds you have my respect and pity as well..
