  1. Yeah, Kivan did take the best archer portrait. That's no lie.
  2. Without the expansion Throne of Bhaal it had 16 characters. And some of them could be intended as "limited" time characters. Such as Imoen, Yoshimo and Valygar, because they either are not accessible for a huge amount of time, or they get killed off as part of a main/side quest. And one of them was Jan Jansen, whom I always let join my party, take somewhere private, murder, and leave to rot. So 15, really.
  3. It's pretty much the least intuitive system ever designed by man. I swear, megadamage makes more sense.
  4. The other day I encountered a red dragon who looked me in the eyes, spoke to me, and laughed when I was amazed he was intelligent. I harvested his organs for potions. True story.
  5. THACO! Goddammit, do we really have to go around spitting out THACO and **** again? I kind of want to burn anybody who asks me to compute THACO ever again. >.<
  6. IDK, I liked, what, about half the BG1 companions, maybe like 15 of them? Although, I can't say they were particularly deep, but some of them were cool. BG2 was definitely a lot better in that regard though. Of course, I still didn't love every character, but they were much better. And BGII had what, 17 recruitable companions? It really is a direct trade off--the more companions you have the longer and more complicated it would be to give each of them a fully developed plot, full characterization, etc. So some of them get shafted. Like Kivan. Nobody cares about Kivan and you know it.
  7. My highest-damaging character is my cipher PC. Second is Grieving Mother; I tend to lead with both and spam Mind Blades and Mind Lance, so....it works out. Aloth, however, is a close third.
  8. I shave my beard every April, and start growing it again around November. That pretty much looks like what I get around March.
  9. I can thematically understand the change to Chill Fog, but Slicken being a single-hit AoE is just utter nonsense. Wizards were already acknowledged to be wildly inferior to Druids and Priests, and now I really don't see any reason to take one, let alone take poor Aloth, aside from story/roleplay reasons; a gimped wizard with a gimped set of Attributes, with gimpy spells. Slicken definitely should be a Hazard AoE. I have no idea what they were thinking. And if Chill Fog is changed to AoE from Foe AoE (...they really should rename "AoE" into something like "All AoE" or "Friendly-Fire AoE" to fit the format...) it should be considerably buffed in some other way, such as being much larger, or do more damage. No, Chill Fog does not need a buff now that it has been 'fixed'. You're underestimating how incredibly good AOE blind is. Eothas forgive that you might have to actually micro instead of spam chill fog + attack move. Swear to god, I'll be the Effigy if this isn't a true statement of fact.
  10. I'm running a Core 2 Duo at 2.13 GHz. I hate both of you. >.<
  11. Three enemy tanks at the chokepoint of a doorway, with my two tanks blocking entrance. Behind him, my healer. Behind the healer, my two ranged DPS casters. Feral druid shows up at doorway behind enemy tanks, begins casting spell. My PC casts Mind Lance at the feral druid, striking everybody inbetween. In preperation, I cast an AoE heal; about halfway into the heal I begin the Mind Lance cast. End result, enemy druid and one enemy tank dead, one enemy tank nearly dead, party totally OK, my fist-bumping the air.
  12. Umm, it takes me 20 seconds tops to go from clicking the icon on my desktop to moving my characters around. About 2 seconds to save using the 4 button on my mouse for "Save", part of that is selecting which slot I want to save it in requiring me to click several buttons and make a decision during this process. Which means perhaps it's your computer and not the game itself. 54 seconds here on a C2Q 2.6 / 8GB PC. Not exactly current spec, granted, but no slouch either. Lemme guess, you're using an SSD, right? I'm using an SSD and I still have long save/load times.
  13. I beg to differ on that, actually. If you count ciphers as casters--and I see no reason you shouldn't--Grieving Mother is far superior, IMHO.
  14. But in the game they're often more reasonable than any human and their NPCs, if they have dialogue, never attack you first, which is cute, kinda like undead in PST. They are always ready to reason with PC, provide rewards and they can even be trusted to hold their promises as proved when their leader punishes his own when they try to attack you in Od Nua. They're not like illithid at all, those just think of everyone but them as slave fodder. Not slave fodder, really, so much as nourishment for the Mother Brain. The real difference between the two is that Illithids are hive-minded and the Vithrak aren't. They fill the same thematic role, is what I meant.
  15. My off tank is a split tank/DPS build who leans a little more tanky in his stats (specifically a high-Might, high-Con, high-Resolve barbarian) but a little more DPS in talents. It's a...unique....build, but so far it's working quite well for the intended purpose (tanking whatever Eder isn't).
  16. Yes there was. The long save/load was caused by player-laid traps persisting, including the frost traps laid by Kana's frost trap song when your party moved around. That's been fixed. You sure that's the cause? 'Cuz I barely use traps and my save/load times are ginormous and growing. Kana has that one chant which makes characters lay frost traps as they move. That was the main cause. There were other objects that were supposed to be non-persistent which ended up in the saves and bloated them, which have also been cleared out, but that's the main one. Coolness. Regardless of what I do or do not do, my save times are huge and I hope it is fixed. I hit quicksave, like, every five minutes.

  18. First when reading this: Uh, you mean Minsc? Okay. You mean Kivan. Yeah, he's definitely one of the more beige ones. In my heart, Minsc will always be a barbarian.
  19. A good chunk of those 25 joinable NPC's had little to no real characterization or interaction, though. Like that ranger you meet out in the wild. So forgettable I forgot his name entirely.
  20. So are all the firearms. I'm sure they just brought down to be in line with the other slow but hard-hitting weapons.
  21. Changes to Slicken, changes to Chill Fog, etc. are the main reason people are claiming nerf. These seem to be people who have no idea how to play a mage except "ZOMG NUKZ!"
  22. Scrolls area vital part of my strategy. They allow a great deal of versatility between different types of casters and greatly increase the usability of all casters without the need for excessive resting.
  23. The Vithrak are psychic humanoid arachnids whose minds are so different from the Kith that just contacting it will cause a person to go completely nuts. They're basically PoE's Illithids.
  24. The only issue with might is that they didn't have the time and budget to script reactive dialogues for high-might characters like wizards in some way (perhaps keyed to high might, low con?) and that because of that people whine about strong mages.
