US attacks on Syria
What about them. This really happened and it's not hard to convince anyone that it shouldn't have. The missile strikes are symbolic though. 'Proportional response' you know, bomber diplomacy, it's what the US is famous for. Minimal risk and... some bombs or missiles which may or may not influence events.

US attacks on Syria
Yeah, just like US intelligence wasn't fooled that Osama bin Laden lived in a Bond villain-esque cave complex in the Tora Bora mountains. Just like US intelligence wasn't fooled Iraq had a WMD program. Do you remember anyone being held accountable for these lies? The US has a long-standing tradition of fabricating "intelligence" on every important occasion of note. The longer this goes on with nobody being punished, the worse it will get. FFS, the standard "evidence" is currently held to is literally "videos by al-Qaida supporters", which is currently accepted without even the slightest hint of critical thinking! What the **** has the world come to? Anyways, what the "US intelligence" knows or not knows is the wrong question, because it doesn't matter if you're not the president. What we are interested in is what the government is trying to hype up. Then they will lie as much as they can, regardless what the intelligence says. They will not try to be impartial. And to their aid they will use the most banal devices, which insults the cognitive ability of even the most casual observer. Really? What do two pictures taken by al-Qaida's propaganda department have to do in a reasoned and impartial UN debate? Or might this be a dumb PR device? Is there anyone in the entire world who does not immediately associate this with Colin Powell, who has become the very embodiment of the political lie? It is clear that what is happening in the above picture has nothing to do with investigating an alleged crime, and everything to do with selling a narrative to the public. It's for the American people. Grandstanding is par for the course. Tradition is tradition after all. It's a performance the real diplomacy is through other channels.

US attacks on Syria
I was wondering about that UN show. It was clearly meant to embarrass the Syrian envoy who was reading texts and ignoring the whole thing. There is tradition for hyperboly when adressing the UN though. The US envoy came off as sortoff a school teacher giving a student a severe dressing down. From that point of view , posturing that is, she came out ok.

People don't want to bother with shelves full of disks anymore. Still, if you have a home theater sort of setup that's still how you get the most out of it.

It's still got all the same menus, they are just hidden away under a lot of over designed new menus that look kinda IOSy or like they belong on a phone where you can't have more than 4 or 5 entries in the same heading. Most of the things you remember from 7 like the device manager, services.msc and so on can still be called from the search console. Just avoid using the settings app whenever possible.

Well if the difference is the same as between Fallout 3 and 4 It's going to be thematically safe and as full of bugs as it is boring as hell.

How the hell could you piss away 40 million and spend so little on polish. I mean turd polishing clearly indicates the need for polish. That's what they did with DOI. I can only conclude that it must have been very down to the wire and the schedule pushed back several times. Or perhaps just the opposite, the EA treatment, just push out whatever is there when time runs out. That's a lot of toilet metaphors I know.- AMD Ryzen

Gorgon replied to JFSOCC's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Do you want ants, I mean do you want the thread closed, because that's how you get threads closed. It's a lot easier than figuring out who's right or wrong and it's the go to solution when people start to get too personal.- Nerdgasm: Movies and Shows for Geeks and Nerds
The more vertices and effects the more money spent on CGI. These movies are wearing their complex skeleton rigs and 5 different reflection and refraction maps like gold chains.- What you did today

I loved it. The premise is silly, but its so gorgeous and I don't need my space opera to be award worthy. I don't know. While I agree that entertainment doesn't need to be award-worthy (far from it, actually) I'm rapidly approaching a point where gorgeous visuals can no longer polish a turd, for both movies and games. Even low budget schlock like Iron Sky looks visually impressive these days (not that I don't like low budged schlock, I loved every moment of Iron Sky). Point in case, well, Avatar. When it came out I went to an IMAX cinema and the movie gave me vertigo in certain scenes (I hate heights, really, standing on a chair is enough to make me queasy) and I thorogouly enjoyed the three hours of special effects porn. I caught a rerun on TV recently and... boy is that one dumb film that has loads of distracting obvious CGI stuff, most prominent obviously being Saldana's blue space elf brigade. On the flipside Volo's much disliked Avengers (the first one, that is) is almost as dumb in its story premise but at least it has a roster of decent actors and some really funny dialogue. Jupiter Ascending has Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum and a Sean Bean character that actually survives. That's just wrong. Umm. A space werewolf who got his wings cut of (he had wings - a space werewolf, think about that for a minute) because he ate a guy, so now he jumps around using rocket boots and apparently he can hold on to a spaceship and hitch a ride to another planet (as in on the outside of the spaceship like a train surfer or something) if the need arises. Terrible movie but not unentertaining. - What's on the idiot box?
