  1. So after downloading a logitech applet for my mouse, I was able to boost the mouse speed even further, so now I can actually aim without slowdowns, it's a mite choppy though probably because it wasn't intended for actual 'real time aiming'. Now I have another problem, just the smallest touch of the mouse will turn me 180 degrees, which can be a problem when a nasty pops up and you turn your back to him.
  2. This falls into the category of bad PC port. You can't aim properly either. I had to turn mouse sensitivity all the way up in both the mouse applet in windows and in the game, just to get it so I could look around at the turn of the wrist instead of requiring several feet of free space. The superior aiming operation of a mouse seems to have been deliberately sabotaged as well. Whenever you enter aim mode, pointing slows down so much you can either flail the mouse spastically to try to bring your gun to bear faster, or simply contend with a constant speed handicap. I realise this gap between intention and finding your aim on a console is larger, but it's not supposed to be a factor on a pc. I can't recommend this at all unless you use a controller, and it's not really the kind of game that benefits from a controller either. Well, possible maneuvering in space, I haven't gotten that far yet. What keeps me at it is the sound mixing and the atmosphere. The baddies themselves look, I dunno, a little too over the top to be scary.
  3. First thing I've noticed is that I can't reassign movement keys to the arrow keys. FFS, I mean, I'm not an expert but how ****ing hard can it be to implement proper remapping. I can't stand WASD, it's just a thing I've always suffered from. Enter, Arrow keys, Numerical keyboard, can only be mapped to certain seemingly arbitrary functions, The rest it seems must me either letters, numbers or F-keys. You can move with F1 through 10, but not the arrow keys. Just brilliant.
  4. Ok so I bought it, at a games store chain I hate no less so I had to pay more. I'm collecting heads if it sucks donkey balls, just so you know. Installing now.
  5. The suit looks a bit silly, everything else looks well thought out. 'Necromorphs' lols. gimme a break. Also, it's EA, that means the game is not a keeper, right, you can only use it for 3 installs or hardware changes.
  6. So can I get a solid recommendation out of anyone. I love sci fi, I hated Doom3.
  7. Demos cost production time, and if your game stinks it's only going to make things worse. The smoke and mirrors approach probably works better.
  8. I think i'm going with seagate too next time around, they have a pretty solid reputation
  9. I just know its going to suck and break my heart.
  10. Your own fault for not having proper backup >_ Whatever is important to you can't just be on one physical drive.
  11. Most people who get a job writing game reviews are positive. That's how they continue to get work. I'm just curious, so you prefer positive reviewers to neutral or negative ones.
  12. I still have my old beat up 22' CRT. I got used to it I guess. Still beats any LCD for color reproduction. CRTs benefit from 32 bit color, but get this, LCDs aren't even true 16 bit, they cheat and use interpolation. Friend of mine was able to turn the firmware off his mac screen and it was plain as day how sucky they were without it. Gradients had visible borders. Prolly gonna get one anyway though, costs less in power, doesn't take up half a desk, easier on the eyes etc.
  13. That baloney with the package being intact don't fly with danish legislation. If you have a receipt and you had to break the wrapping to get to it, they have to return it. That don't stop them from forgetting to tell you that bit of information when you take it back though. I guess there is just something fundamentally amoral and shifty about sales clarks.
  14. It wasn't part of my curriculum, or maybe I just missed those days. Anyway it is I suppose an important cold war moment. Other than that it was over pretty fast.
  15. I got tied of crysis somewhere in the huge spaceship, I also thought the suit controls were annoying. You can either run too slowly, or too fast for 2 seconds. You can't jump anywhere until the strength thing has recharged, real stealth would have been preferable to a magic button. etc, etc. This is another one of those you can only install 3 times games isn't it. That means bargain bin for me. Anyway I got my taste of the engine already.
  16. No one country is going to just leave the economy to do it's thing, there are vested interests after all. The thought is utopian.
  17. My mom told me later today that many people listened to every free Hungarian radio broadcast, when they stopped coming, people knew what had happened. I guess this was back when radio mattered.
  18. What a wuss, going to the police with that.
  19. That is probably what he mean, ain't it. Well, I guess it just sucks to be on the wrong side of the Iron curtain. It was decided that Hungary was in Russia's sphere of interest, this is a consensus that goes all the way back to Potsdam. Of course no one asked Hungary.
  20. I don't know a damn thing about the Hungarian revolution, maybe you could enlighten us. Unless you mean when the Ruskies rolled their tanks in to regain control, and Nato decided it wasn't worth fighting a war over.
  21. Didn't you used to have a half a mile of signature in painful colors.
  22. Ohh,, well. It's a shame I think. Kotor held a promise, for however briefly, that you could have a story for grown ups set in the star wars universe.
  23. Ok so I don't have the heart to wade through this thread. Is there going to be both a Kotor 3 and another Starwars Memopherger ....
  24. I still think there was a knee-jerk reaction from this thread's participants, and the Western gaming world in general. All things considered, maybe the Muslim complaints would turn out to be bollocks... but I doubt all things were considered with acute knowledge of Muslim convention in mind by most of the responses. I think because the demand made, the convention cited, was so foreign to us, and there was a tinge of 'freedom of expression' stuff thrown in, there was a natural outburst against it. That's where you are wrong, you don't need a Phd, in Islamic scripture to have an opinion. The Koran belongs to all of us, all of mankind, not just Muslims. We are free to reference and interpret it any way we like. If the fundies think it is theirs alone to guard fiercely they can go suck eggs.
