  1. The ones that magically generate non existing content. Totally like cutting edge.
  2. I don't know when the movie came out, but again fact proves weirder than fiction, if you recall the fox was caught posing as herbal/alternative medicine healer, had no bodyguards of any kind and had completely changed his appearance. He has a psychology degree, and conning people had just always come natural to him.
  3. Suicide bombing for no reason? Bombing GOD for no reason. Killing god is a prerequisite for free speech on a very basic level. He's the holy cow that's gotta go first.
  4. It's kinda funny Obama would have anything to do with Powel given that he was the public face of the big fat lie the Bush administration went to war on. I guess name recognition means more than accountability.
  5. On foreign policy Obama would be less likely to invade another middle eastern country surely. He would probably be more popular in the rest of the world as well, making it easier to get things done by consensus. The national priorities of the US will be the same regardless though, and in the end that drives everything.
  6. Whats wrong with weeds, they are superior organisms after all. Otherwise there would be huge forests of different coloured roses and rhododendrons.
  7. in most other industries, the people who are paid to report news and review things are typically professionals Those journalists exists in all areas, they are the other kind of 'professionals'. Anyway if a game gets less than a 9 these days it must be complete crap. The scale has to accommodate the whore jobs after all.
  8. In any case, I have been doing some thinking myself, and it seems to me that speech is either free or it isn't. In the same train of thought as 'being a little bit pregnant', it's an 'either-or' proposition. Now of course laws also dictate what it is permissible to communicate, you can't threaten anyone with death and expect no consequences. I refer to what is permissible within the law. Having established those boundaries many people still like to use the maxim that 'free speech isn't a license to slander'. I can't help but disagree. It seems to me that that is exactly what free speech also is, again within the limits of the law, and of course you can slander within the law, just chose your adjectives carefully. The maxim is subjective, whereas the principle of free speech within the law is completely definable. It means among other things that we have to contend with anything from Neo Nazis and racists, to gross exaggerations and political bias. Free speech isn't pretty, those that think it should be have gotten the definition wrong.
  9. Free speech ideologues win over fundamentalists any day, just by definition.
  10. I got a fair amount of quest related crashes last time I played it. After several quest statuses had changed at the same time while inside, it would then crash when I went back outside. I was able to get past it by doing one thing at a time, going outside to save, back inside to do another dialouge string, going back outside and so forth. This was particularly bad in the 'private eye section' (trying to avoid spoilers)
  11. Intentionally removing the lan party crowd from their market seems pretty silly. Those things are having something of a renaissance with the advent of laptops that don't entirely suck.
  12. Removing the music is probably good sense, it's not like it's a key part of the game anyway. I'm just continually annoyed at all the whining and general 'offense taking'. What we need here is a Muslim Nietzsche.
  13. It seems that anything to do with the Koran can be offensive these days.
  14. I was out walking my sister's dog when it took off into the bushes. Then it made a loud yelp and darted off tail between the legs. It seems it had stumbled upon a mother cat with its litter. The cat was tiny compared to my sis' dog but man was it pissed. Good thing my sis' dog is a coward, makes encounters with other dogs so much easier as well.
  15. yeah, all can have their chance reduced by something like 50-65 percent, same with duration, there are also anti stun and ko potions. Trouble is there are always more fun skills to spend points on than stamina upgrades. Hell if you want to see all the combat animations there arent many points for anything else.
  16. Don't take offense, whats a few shots off the hip among like minds.
  17. I'm watching the Band of Brothers DVD set. I thought it would be the usual one sided American macho bullcrap, and well it is that, but it's pretty good nonetheless.
  18. So you press a button to flick through available targets. Aiming is the very definition of an FPS, and you think it's 'annoying'. You are hereby dubbed a lammo.
  19. This problem is as old as. If they run out of manhours, they release whatever is there.
  20. Gloomy
  21. Personally I wish the game experience was less balanced and even steven. Quite frankly the scale is too large for me to enjoy competitive netplay, so I only care about single player. This is where it becomes a little annoying that every race has the same basic ship types with different skins, and well a special ability or two.
  22. I guess some people have an instinctive need to write diaries.
  23. Well duhh, they don't notice it until a year down the line when they try to reinstall it and find out that they got the shaft.
  24. I think you can't help but factor in that Britain actually has a very vocal Muslim extremist environment that they use an awful lot of time keeping tabs on. That's not quite so obvious in the US despite their more extreme measures. There have already been cases where the police needed to jump to an arrest to prevent terrorist action. Used sparingly, detaining suspects without trial can be necessary. There should be proper judicial procedures for this though, not just a 42 day charte blanche whenever the cops use the world 'terrorist'
